*Question for the public

First of all, I am a huge fan of Star Wars, just got finished reading the New Jedi Order Series, it was fabulous.

Do you all think that this is the only armor progression? Otherwise to be diverse from other players, there would at least have to be hundreds of different armor for everyone to be a little different? no one wants to run around looking the same. One of the reasons I fell in love with WOW. Nonetheless, I cannot wait for this game!

@nick10987 No every class has their own armor pogression for example the trooper doesn't start off with the best armor, they gain exp and gain better armor as he keeps getting more exp. The smuggler, jedi knight, imperial agent and sith warrior are the same as well. On a plus side you get to customize the armor color and the tattoos you put on the armor.

@nick10987 this is not a "armor progression" that will happen to everyone , it's just a example of a low level to a high level bountry hunter , not to mention this video is from 2008-2009 so .. they already announced there will be UNIQUE gear for epic achievements and PvP gear and PvE gear will be totally different in status and looks .. they said they want it to make very clear wich kind of player you are just by looking at you .. like " damn this guy is a rapist on pvp".

@imacds the armor isn't in "levels" noob. it's called tiers and there's probably only 5 tiers meaning it will take a long time before you get to blow stuff up.

@2009starwarsfan On some of the demo screens from E3, it showed a function called "Applying Coloration Attaching", which seems to suggest a custom colorization mechanic in the game.

I don't know if adding accessories will be ingame or not, but for the moment it looks like color customization is a strong possibility. This would be a huge way to give players some individuality, even if wearing similar armor to someone else.

@TheJcrane92 I guess I don't understand what you want to ask; every game I ever had, with any kind of reward in it, required you to do something to "unlock" it. Whether the activity needed to unlock something was time trials, defeating a special boss, etc, there was always a certain stipulation that needed to be met.

I'm ok with level or plot-based progression - especially since BioWare has done the latter very well in the past. Sometimes, boundaries need to be set to keep things tight.

With this sort of thing I find it quite ridiculous, like skater games where you unlock skateboards or different skaters, or racing games where you must unlock cars, where it would make more sense just to buy them. Thats just want it seemed like.

I'm not sure what kind of - if any - level restrictions will be placed on armor. If there isn't one, then I imagine the level of the content will definitely play a role in when you can get and equip certain pieces.

Considering how BioWare uses D&D as a template for many things, it would not surprise me if they keep level requirements on the armor. However, I don't know enough about the mechanics, at their core, to make any sort of informed guess.

@TheJcrane92 Then if you have a main character with lots of money, he could purchase gear for the alt. Probably making him overpowered, espescially in pvp. IMO I support level based armor. Adds some balance.

It just doesn't make sense to limit something that would otherwise just require monetary resources. It isn't that big of a deal, one of those little things you just get over. It just isn't logical.

but if with 10 dollars fee 3 million play it that makes more revenue... and since the game is being produced to create revenue not provide us free enjoyment they'll set the fee at whats more profitable to them... considering others MMO I wouldn't expect the fee to go down to 5 bucks... more around the 15 bucks that WoW fee is

Where is all the dynamics and energy that the game is supposed to contain? They are talking about not just being another stand in one spot and hit your hotkeys, but that was all this video showed. Very boring. A bit disappointing to be honest.

They have shown the gameplay of a bounty hunter before if you look around. You can see quite clearly that the bounty hunter can move around and kite, just as he jetpack to enemies. Another thing to note is that the bounty hunter is the trooper equivalent in essence. Stand and destroy pretty much. Hence all of the CC the class has. (stun dart/flamethrower/lawlgrip/etc­)

They will not reveal much of the game... they are just trying to show the bounty hunter armor progression from level 1 to the last lvl. Who cares if they fight 1 or 2 mobs, if you wanna see gameplay see today IGN live demo of the game and check yesterdays G4 live gameplay.

ppl dont seem to realize that you pay because all the servers maintenance costs plus constant developing... that's why Guild Wars is a fail and Guild Wars 2 will also be a fail - without monthly payment it can't get big enough to even give a good experience no matter what features it has...

You pay to have a constantly updated (good updates no giant loads of expansions that just add more crap, talking bout GW)

@Kaeldin15 thats true and all but they certainly dont need as much money as blizzard rakes in, they shouldnt charge 50 bucks for the game initially more like 20 or 30 and the monthly fee should be 5 dollars, because people who live on there own who are in college have other shit to pay for. and if you multiply 5 bucks times like 2 million thats plenty to run the servers. and im sure thats how many people will start playing the game.

@FixedTheFernBack Ehh... it just isn't plausible. I will use WoW as the example. Their servers cost ~300k - 500k dollars every day to just keep the servers up. That isn't including all of their development etc etc etc. Now it may not seem like much to Blizzard's in theory 165million a month in contrast to a 9million server upkeep. but 9million out of your suggested 55million a month. That is just server cost... The game will make little profit for the effort required to put into it.
