  • who plays guitar here?

  • The similarity between Broken China and The Division Bell is huge, except Broken China's a much darker and, you could say, sadder version.

  • I have never told this story before and I'm not sure why I should tell it now, but somehow feel it is time.

On the evening that Rick passed away, I was then as I am now, sitting in front of my computer at work watching this video, weeping softly for a lost friend, one I had never even met.

I was startled when the phone rang as it was late and I was alone, static so I hung up. A few minutes later the phone rings again, static but I hear faintly "It will be ok ".

Only Rick knew of my tears ....

  • beautiful...rest is peace richard

  • Does anyone remember that band Enigma, from the early nineties?? I can't help but to notice a similarity here...

  • broken china if one follows it carefully, is a darker version of the division bell. the entire album feels exactly like it but a lot darker. what a fantastic journey rick made for us to enjoy. this should have been released as a floyd album. it has a floydier feel then most of the roger era stuff and a way better feel then rogers solo work.

  • God bless Richard Wright. May you rest in peace. Your music will live on forever!

  • Reminds me of The Matrix. And this 1996, a few years before the Matrix. Richard Wright is a genius.

  • The primary inspiration for me to learn how to play keys.

  • People who like this would probably like David Bowies Heathen album. This has a nearly identical sound. :)

  • Amazing clip, Awesome song. He was Great...

A genius, We'll always remember you rick. R.I.P.

    THIS IS OUTSTANDING

  • Elite song

  • Comment removed

  • was a lot of his solo stuff like this?

i loved the songs he wrote for floyd

like summer 69 and see saw

but is his stuff like dance beats almost?

    like this

i would like to hear more

  • You mean summer '68. Summer of '69 is a Brian Adams song. Good song but not PF.

Most of Rick's solo stuff was NOT like this song. I find his other solo stuff even better but this song is GREAT and I LOVE IT!

The songs by Richard Wright you need to hear are:

"Pink's Song", "Summer Elegy", "Holiday", and "Breakthrough"

  • hahaha

like 2 weeks after i realized i put 69 instead of 68, screw brian adams.

ill have to check those songs out

thank you very much for the suggestions

    i really miss this guy

one of the most underrated floyd contributors

  • Yeah Rick does not get the respect he should have had. Roger only started giving him credit the last few years.

I saw Rick and David at Radio City live and it was great. I saw Roger a few times.

I have never seen Nick though. I missed the 94 tour.

Now I doubt I will ever see him.

  • ive never seen any of them

but its so sad to know that i can never see floyd now

syd was one thing, but now that the 2nd line up is gone,

i cant even see the faded, water-less version of them now

i would love to see any member perform with his respective band,

but i would give anything to see 69-72 floyd

    anythingggggg

  • I see you are 20 so yeah I know what you mean. I am 35. I was about 10 when Roger left PF. Back then you read it in a music magazine or maybe MTV.

I saw on MTV when Roger was in court in 86 or so suing to stop using the name Pink Floyd. I knew they would never get together again after that.

Did you see the LIVE 8 performance in 2005? That was truly the end.

Do a search for this on youtube if you never saw it. It is good:

Nick Mason Lie For A Lie

  • oh god, the live 8

    ive watched it many times

even though you can tell it was awkward for them

    it was so amazing

i was never conscious of floyd when i was younger

my dad was a beatles man, so i never heard much

but i honestly think that what they created

    was just amazing

and that it will one day

be remembered as some of the most original and inspirational music/art of all time

  • I can't agree more.

I like the Beatles as well. Pink Floyd is my favorite band though. Then I like Talking Heads. Then the Beatles third. David Byrne, of Talking Heads, was extremely creative as well in a different new wave style.

I think maybe PF got some of their vibe from Delia Derbyshire. She did the original Doctor Who theme in 1963 and it sounds like PF.

    Search this:

Doctor Who (1963) - Original Theme music video

    I

  • oh ive heard that stuff

    like 'one of these days'

    great music

i should watch the show sometime

but you can tell they loved that theme

    and yea

    talking heads are great

  • I was just doing a little research and I was correct.

Delia Derbyshire's web site says "A recent Guardian article called her 'the unsung heroine of British electronic music', probably because of the way her infectious enthusiasm subtly cross-pollinated the minds of many creative people. She had exploratory encounters with Paul McCartney, Karlheinz Stockhausen, George Martin, Pink Floyd, Brian Jones, Anthony Newley, Ringo Starr and Harry Nilsson."

  • soo great

  • I think that he was a great composer.

  • this is sóó''oóó floyd!

  • awesome track, rick best

  • gran disco , gran autor

  • RIP Rick.

    You were so great !

  • i can't believe there are no songs from broken china anywhere here!

  • 「Brocken China」の再販を強く願いたい。

    (追悼版って扱いでもいいから...)

    I love Rick!

  • R.I.P We love ya!

  • The person in the video reminded me of Christopher Walken during the crib scene...

  • Rest in peace, Richard. You did great! =)

  • There is another record from Rick. This was made with Dave Harris as "Zee" in 1984, published by EMI Harvest in Vinyl. I like it because it was performed using a Fairlight and he tried to do something new.

  • I love this song, I love this video and I am so sad that he's gone.

Pink Floyd will never be again.

  • @lowededwookie so do I....

  • did he record a whole album befoere his death?

  • Not only one, but two:

    Wet Dream (1978)

    Broken China (1996)

And was working on his third at the time of his death.

  • i mean did he record any new material at the time of his death that is being realeased

  • For obvious reasons, such details are yet to be released, and probably even conisdered. I am confident we'll see some of the material though, probably according to his own Wishes.

  • is this the only video of its kind

  • hearing rick wright playing the keyboard on interstellar overdrive was one of the reason i became a pink Floyd fan R.I.P RICK WRIGHT

  • Rest in Peace Rick. This track sums his style up.

  • Rick is going to be missed dearly!!

  • Peace Rick.

  • No te olvidaremos Rick, nunca ...

  • Richard has become a part of history. [']

  • very good my friend very sad he will be missed

  • Try not to break any more china.Rail Runner.

  • He didn't died, he just became everlasting. R.I.P Rick, See you in heaven

  • was he a christian? he should definitely play the organ in Heaven's choir. Pink Floyd tell the world ends, and RIP Rick Wright

  • Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way

The time is gone, the song is over,

Thought I'd something more to say.

RIP you will live in our Hearts forever wish you were here and thank you for the music.

  • Now I know one of my biggest dreams is gone... to watch Pink Floyd together... man... Rick, How we wish you were here... R.I.P

  • haven't ate or drank, ever since i've heard the news

you can't possibly imagine, how influential this guys was to me ...

and How annoying it is to know loads of people just started to appreciate him, and listen to his music, just because they heard that "that PINK FLOYD member" passed away ...

    Still can't believe he's gone ...

He's gone just like the Syd ... Forever

RIP Rick, we'll never forget you man

    Never

    RIP Rick...

  • Such a sad day, a huge loss. Another legend gone

  • RIP Rick...

  • end of whole pink floyd, never more. Last three members still here

  • Rick was Floyd, more than the average fan believes he was. He brought the spice in the group, during the Piper days (Rick's Turkish Delight), during the classic days (the 'ping' from Echoes) and on the real comeback album Division Bell.

    Rick was Floyd. Period.

  • Totally agree!

  • My favourite Rick Wright track. RIP Rick you gave us all so much man!

  • The best always leave first. Rest in peace.

  • R.I.P. RICK I'M JUST SHOCKED

  • I can't believe the terrible news today. Unbelievable. RIP Rick.

  • RIP Rick

  • Wow I never knew that Rick Wright had an official video for Broken China. I was just looking for videos featureing songs from Broken China but never expected to find this. Your the man for uplouding this video. Are there other Videos from any of Rick Wright solo albums?

  • "Welcome to the world of random noise Where you simply haven't got a choice..."

  • Beautiful

  • rick is da man

  • It sounds alot like "Cluster One" by Pink Floyd in the first 13 seconds

  • This was an interesting album. Tracks 1 and 2 (this is track 2) are meant to be played together. Track 1 is called Breaking Water and it's awesome.

  • Amazingly interesting!!

  • me gustaria saber como puedo bajar ete video??'

  • Coooooooooooool. 8)

    5/5 I love Rick!! :D

  • i would guess his kid...or LIFE!

  • интересное видео, спасибо

  • This song is strange, but I love it. lol

Does anybody knows what is it about??

  • Birth.

  • Pink Floyd meeting Enigma and Hooverphonic... (well, that's what comes to my mind right now! ;-)

Very pleasing to the ear!... Rick is an awesome talent!!!

  • super klimatyczny klip, przesycony nastrojem Flodów,Rick przeszedł samego siebie!

  • แอ๊บแบ๊ว แก่แล้ว แต่ยังไงก็มีผมไม่เหมือนเดฟ โล้นอ้วน

  • please put some other broken china song!

  • tim renwick who played with pink floyd in pulse tour?

  • Right! He has even played with 'em since the 1988 Delicate Sound of Thunder tour...

  • Yes.

  • Awesome! Thanx~!

  • who's the guitarist? his sound is like gilmour's one!

  • I think it's Tim Renwick. He also played on Roger's Pros & Cons tour, and appeared with Pink Floyd at Live 8. He went to school with Roger and Syd.

  • I didn't know there were videos of the "broken china" album.Surprising!

  • honestly? really?i'd never of guessed!

  • stop the shite! dave, roger, rick, nick all play parts in pink floyd.teamwork!

  • That's what exactly we were talking about :-D

  • You forgot Syd Barrett!!! :D

  • Just plain dumb to rate the different members...remove all keyboard and piano + some great single compositions and what do you have? Not Pink Floyd at least. They were teamwork and inspired each other and jammed alongside! Nuff said, No Rick, no Pink Floyd! Period.

  • You're right!! And for those who claim that Roger is Pink FLoyd, they've just to watch DSOTM documentary! Roger stated himself that The Great Gig In The Sky & Us And Them are "truly wonderful pieces of music(...)"

  • And he is quite correct! They are gems!!! And what about Echoes!? And everything else:-D

  • I do wonder whether he made other videos. Wet Dream has good songs to make into videos and I know Wright has expressed overall fondness for Broken China as an album, so this shouldn't be the only video from it.

Of course, it would be funny if he released a video while part of Zee, considering how short-lived that project was.

  • I can't get it to load on my computer.

  • Rck's Broken China is a masterpiece, absolutely fantastic record. Just can't wait for his new album. I think he's my favorite Floyd, if something like that exist... great musician.

  • very under rated. he's mostly responsible for the floyd 'sound'... and if it wasn't for him, we would never have had 'echoes'

great cd... weird, but wonderful video

  • Leave Rick Wright alone. He was responsible for a big bunch of Dark side of the moon. He is what he is. He and Gilmour are Pink Floyd. Waters is somewhat but not that much. The music is what it is all about anyway. Without Pink Floyd there would of been an enormous vacum in music anyway.

  • fome!

  • question

why I can't see the video?

  • Same here.

  • wow that was cool, birth

  • Just gotta love Rick, this is the first time I've ever seen this video! The most underrated member of the band. (It's always the quietest ones that go un-noticed)

  • wow Wrigth solo job is great...

    WOW, just sweet

  • was it on the broken china album?

  • Yep !

  • rick was so cute when he was young... he is alright now...

  • Thanks for posting this. I'd never seen it before. Kudos to Rick for making something that doesn't sound like Pink Floyd

  • "Wind Bag" is one of the last phrases I'd ever think of using in reference to Rick Wright. He isn't called "the quiet one" for nothing. Are you sure you're not confusing him with someone else?

  • you kidding me? hes so underrated its sick!

Oh and thanks alot for the vid panda!

  • Whatever hater, I wish the user of the video can delete your negative comment go to eBay and listen to "Wet Dream" damn it ! or just please be quiet, thank you. :(
