You paint really really nice! but just to give you a little qritique (Spell? im not the best on english)
I think you should look more on the proportions on a horse. on this picture i think the legs are a bit short the neck to thin and the head to bigg and the eye a little bit too small. I love your shadows tough. I really should not say anything cous i would ever be able to paint this nice.
@lakelet1 I definitely need a good lamp! I do very occassionally use a bit of black paint in my work but didn't use any in this painting, mainly used mixes of colours like burnt umber, french ultramarine and paynes grey (if memory serves!). It is interesting watching this video back a year down the line as I would approach it very differently now, have learnt a lot this year, hope I make as much progress this year too!
@lakelet1 thank you! 2012 goal is to get work accepted into a competitve non-equestrian open exhibition I think. Aiming to do lots more painting from life too, have reaped the benefits of doing more this year so aim to dedicate even more time to it in 2012 :-)
We are a tiny group of volunteers who formed a small Charity to help all the needy Horses & Ponies we could with our meager resources. To try to sustain our work we try to work with people like your good self for mutual benefit. We wondered if you had any artwork you could donate together with a short written piece about your donation and your other work that we could hang the artwork & description in our small gallery for sale to raise funds for the Centre. this is awesome! I wanted to know like do you keep going over with white small strokes? or is there some technique which exposes the base again and again? Thanks! Im painting a horse myself at the moment and would love your help!
This is amazing and you do all this with such a small brush but the effects are wonderful. Keep them coming your such an inspiration and I learn a lot from you thanks.
did you cut your hair lol? I don't know how you have the patience for those tiny brushstrokes and then you go over them and they disappear and then you do them again! quite incredible.
@riteasrain You are eagle-eyed! Yes, I chopped all my hair! Snipped off my 15 inch ponytail (well, a hairdresser did!) and donated it to a charity who send hair to be made into wigs for cancer patients- was very liberating! I really enjoy painting tiny details although this painting didn't really go to plan in the early stages- I hadn't waited long enough for layers to dry and removed a lot of hard work! Always a learning curve... ;-)
@LauraBarberRiley oh yes I've done that too - done a lot of work painting only to remove it. What a great idea re your hair! That is such a good thing you did. I've enjoyed your 2 vids very much so hope you'll upload some more :-)
@CHloE748 I have only been painting since 2008 so not long really- practice makes perfect! I still have a long way to go to be anywhere near as good as I'd like but I learn with each painting I do :-)
Absolutly beautiful!! :D

I think its time to buy a lamp.. at first find a painting restorer and ask where you can get one
do you use black oil paint? or you mix the black?
