I ran the greenpoison program, but it did not jailbreak my iPhone 3G 4.2.1. Instead after going through the instructions, it said "Try again?" I tried several times, and finally just connected it back to iTunes. There it said the phone is in recovery mode and has to be restored. Bottom line: greenpoison didn't work for me. :-(

If you are using an iPod Touch 2G MC with iOS 4.2.1, do all of the steps, but when you're jailbreaking, DO NOT hold the home button.

After you release the sleep button and wait 15 seconds, it will cut off at 8, but make sure you keep holding until the full 15 has passed. LET GO OF THE HOME BUTTON. Then, set your iPod aside and it will jailbreak, just don't touch it and it should come around.
