Michael Brecker is more skilled than Kenny G, that's not sujective, it' a fact, but Kenny G has more fans and money. and to his fans he is better, and that's where taste decides who's better, that's where subjectivity comes in.
there are a lot more drummers at another level. Most Rock drummers are overrated. most known drummers are overrated including Carter. they are good but there are a bunch of unknown drummers more capable than Carter and Neil. music is subjective, so one might like a rock drummer more than a jazz drummer, even when the jazz drummer is more skilled(that aspect is not subjective, unless they are at the same level).

This is about music. Carter wouldnt be here without Neil's influences, and if your too caught up in comparing drummers and continue to waste your time not learning from either... you dont know what drumming is about, and even worse, you dont understand music...

@camair2112 on youtube and mentioning Neil fucking pert in a you tube video. I respect the guy for what hes been through but Carter is so much better. Just for your info i know music and i understand it very well. and im pretty sure carter wasnt sitting at home listening to rush on his off nights buddie. He was to busy creating things for dmb, carter paints pictures inside of songs. thats why he meshes so well in that band.. all rush tunes sound alike gayboy.

@lebronsmyboy6 Im sorry you feel that way... Carter is my favorite drummer as of right now. A) It's Peart. B) They are different styles. C) Grow up. I mean its progression of influences, and if it weren't for drummers SUCH AS NEIL, drummers we have now would not have been like "wow, i want to do that, with my own personal take." But both neil and carter can do shit the other will never be able to do, and I will have to disagree with you... on the fact that one it better than the other. Sorry.

@camair2112 there is no such thing as better or best. some people like to say that and claim its and "opinion" even though the statement has to have factualy validity in order to be true. if both carter and neil played the same style of music, then the argument changes because there is a common focal point. there is nothing you can do about ignorance. if someone watches neil and carter and bases their debate on whos better by using only them as examples, their argument has no basis anyway.

@ericcarrtime actually Nigger is not a racist word... it turned into a word with negative connotations depending on the user and the context because of its use BY racists... the word negro pronounced with that 1800's southern accent becomes nigra - becomes nigger - becomes perjorative because of the people that would use it - southern whites... yankees apparently knew how to pronounce the word "negro"...

Well... He isn't african, but he is american. African american is correct for a former african who is now american. i actually have 3 african american friends, 2 are white. So... proper term... Doesn't really exist... but to be honest, I found the most generally accepted is (you guessed it) black.

my favorite drummer. magician of all symbols. i cant name many others that incorporate the symbols as fluidly and naturally as carter, creating harmonies that collaborate with the music. of course, it helps to have a dozen... haha

i love how he's a righty but leads with his left. this dvd is awesome as fuck. I encourage any intermediate to buy this dvd. experts can definitely take something positive from this, but I just think it's cool to watch the man work his magic.

I'm changed! I never thought of it like that before. I normally do my talkin with the bass and snare, but the way the hat work changed a simple 4/4 into a funky beat was incredible. I'm gonna have some fun with that. Thank you Carter!
