  • I thought I had rich cousins growing up, they were always one generation of Nintendo ahead of me. They lived in Prince Edward Island (gonna go back to visit them this weekend! : D ) and I remember learning of the N64 for the first time. It was playing Starfox 64 and I thought, wow Starfox is looking good today.. wait, that's no SNES... what the fuck is that thing?!

    ANOTHER NINTENDO??

And they had WaveRace. Looking back I'm surprised that game didn't suck.

  • wait $200.00 dollars!

  • it's cool because it shows betas of some games.

  • 6:10 I'm so glad that Kirby Air Ride waited until GC.

  • "Love this part"

  • im still waiting for Earthbound 64

  • I crapped my pants when I got this video, still have it on vhs lol

  • THERE'S MORE THAN THREE GAMES?!!!?

  • i fucking love this system! i still got my green one from when i was 4! sadly i was never born at the time this tape was released, it could heve been added to my collection

  • I remember seeing how awesome the N64 was as a kid, when I got this video in the mail I nearly shat my pants!

  • "...the A Button, more commonly known as the Blue Button..."

  • I miss my Nintendo Power subscription goodies. Do they still give them out? Last item I received was the orchestra soundtrack for smash brothers melee. I didn't renew the subscription after that.

  • everyone who is born around the 90s should know Nintendo 64

  • Yo' dis is unreal!

  • @CommanderC00L558 what a buncha rappers

  • Pilotwings 64 was Awesome!! I wish they'd make a current one!

  • @bliglum There is a new Pilotwings game coming out for the Nintendo 3DS that was announced at E3 this year!

  • @venusprojection NO FRIGGIN WAY!!! I might just be getting me one of them 3DS's!

  • An interesting fact about these games: while Super Mario 64 was developed in Japan, both PilotWings 64 and Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire were developed in America. PilotWings 64 was developed by Paradigm Simulation (later known as Paradigm Entertainment), which was based in Dallas, Texas. Shadows of the Empire, of course, was made by LucasArts.

PilotWings 64 was one of the first N64 games to be so ridiculously hard until you're used to the controls and the missions.

  • I'm stuck on the boss fight against IG-88.

  • Armond always gets the SHIT games....racism in Nintendo! Fight eh power....ps im shitfaced:-D

  • I loved the N64 but I hated Pilot Wings with a passion, I'm sorry it was a good game but I'm not a flight sim game.

  • Pilot Wings!

  • I wish I had lived in this era ..... I would of got it the first day not ten years later... oh well at least I didn't have to wait for games to be made :D !!!

  • Ok, ok, we get it..."CHANGE THE SYSTEM." *Rolls eyes*

  • A bunch of those games they showcased at the end never even came out for N64.

  • 1:01 YO DIS IS UNREAL!

  • Is Star Wars Shadows of the Empire the beta version of Star Wars: Rouge Squadron, or just a different game?

  • It's a different game.

  • What's the song / music that plays during the Killer Instinct Gold part at the end from 8:21 to 8:33

  • thats the KI2 character select music

  • oh and I wish they would make Killer Instinct again! Too bad it wont happen!! Best fighting game EVER!!!! The graphics were WAY ahead of their time!!!

  • I've heard rumors that Rare may bring it to XBox Live.

  • no joke I probably watched this video 50 times. I purchased an N64 THE DAY before it was released! The N64 changed video games forever and that will always remind me of my childhood. THank you Nintendo!

  • I hated Pilot Wings 64... Killer Instinct Gold and Cruisin USA where my best games

  • When I first saw this vid as a kid I nearly shit myself!

  • N64 had the best launch titles.

  • Awesome, this brings back memories. I remember getting this video in 3rd grade and watching it 5 times every day! haha

  • me too I ended up getting it for christmas that year too

  • Comment removed

  • Damn, here I am: I just re-bought an N64 and 5classic games off Amazon and I was a Nintendo Power subscriber and I HAD this video sent out to me as well! At the end, it said "You STILL want more?!" and it showed brief clips of Killer Instinct: Gold.

This was classic mid '90s goodness. Live on foever, Nintendo 64. As the last great cartridge based system, you just never got the respect you desurved ...

  • lol at 6:03 "well we showed you 3 great games"

    "Yeah but thats not all

"There is more??" No there are only 3 N64 games

  • xD good call

  • N64 RULES

  • Thanks for uploading this. I can't believe it's been 12 years since I last saw this video. And yet it all seems familiar.

  • Go to hell bitch!!! Nintendo 64's graphics are ten times better than that crappy piece of shit PS1.

  • I still have this VHS lol.

  • Watch what you say, I like video games but not to that fucking extent asswipe. I'm mainly a Sports guy, not a nerd and really what asked you to join us?

Think about what you say first before saying it, or you could just be pissing the wrong people off one day.

  • oh dear, did i piss u off? oh, please forgive me! or better yet, go eat my anal waste till u die. u see, now ur the 1 whos talking without thinking, because i DO KNOW what i say, but i just dont care if i piss off some1 i dont know. besides, i dont care if ur nerd or not, all i know is that u were having an extremely nerdly argue. i mean, ok, that guy doesnt like the same console u do, so what!? ur a nerd and an asshole.

  • The N64 was a more powerful machine than PS with better graphics capabilities. Fact.

  • I agree. Fuck the Playstation ...

  • @sicstyl Very true. The N64 was 64-bit, while the PlayStation was only 32-bit.

  • @sicstyl agreed I had one, I got it on march 1st 1997 which was the release date for Australia..I think they even gave us a shirt? lol. We paid $400 plus we got Mario 64, cant remember if it was more on top.. I do remember that not long after the release in Aus there was a major price reduction, and because of complaints nintendo gave a free game to anyone that pre ordered N64. We got wave race which was ok.. ish.. nice graphics for the time, but pretty boring gameplay wise..

  • @sicstyl

Haha Nintendo helped Sony make the PS, it was supposed to be a Sega CD type add-on for the SNES. Weird, though, if it went that way it would have failed and Nintendo would still have suffered.

  • god, lets be fair for once and for all. n64 has AWFULL graphics, but excellent gameplay and even better games, such as SM64, zelda, super smash bros, perfectdark, goldeneye, CBFD and more. sony couldnt beat that, all they had was better graphics.

now go fuck urselves, freaking nerds.

  • Yeah, what he said.

  • EE, stop the fucking YTSYSTEM crap. We know it's you, that sent warning was from you.

Learn to be thoughtful, I bet half your clothes are from the asians, thais and many other people half way across the world.

I'm trying my best not to resort to racial assumations but you are the worst human I've seen online. Go shut yourself in a locker.

  • Sorry for the slight rant against EnglishEfternamn, but I had had to throw in my two cents' worth.

Either way, it's nostalgic to see old promo videos like these. Thank you for the upload, Toad64. :P

  • Thank you!! Eat that, EE!

  • Please refrain from hate speech. YouTube staff has sent you a warning.

  • Eat what? YOU said absolutely nothing intelligent! Neither has any other defender of this slimy company. Now get the fuck off my thread!

  • And yes, they were racist in playing Hip Hop music just because the guy's black. And you're racist for assuming his favourite music is hip hop. What? So black people don't like Classical or rock? In your world, they don't I guess.

Just had to throw MY two cents' worth...

  • Now, now, who ever said this thread belonged to you? It seems that Toad64 would be the owner. Now, you clearly misunderstood what I said. What I was saying was that, we don't know what Nintendo did. I have no way of knowing for sure, and neither do you. What I'm saying is that there was also the possibility that Nintendo HAD asked him, and purely by coincidence his favorite music was hip-hop. It has nothing to do with him being black. i.e, not racist.

  • In addition, I never said that the N64 was the first piece of 64-bit hardware. I was merely addressing the fact that you had to bring race into the issue of a company's moral standards. Now, do you have any proof to back your claims that Nintendo used slave labor? Keep in mind that your intelligence will be judged by the general populous based on how well you can discuss an issue without resorting to petty personal attacks.

  • And also, what do you judge the intelligence of a comment based on? I like to judge intelligence based on simple things such as grammatical precision, the presence or absence of rational thought, capability for reason, and plain common sense. Your standard appears to be based upon subjectivity, automatic bias, and emotional blindness, though I can't be sure until you respond. So please, take a second to see all the options in a scenario before wildly pointing fingers.

  • I love these videos.Old school nintendo^^

  • IT's soft rock moron, not Hip-hop. Learn to listen and then comment.

  • At the VERY VERY beinning? Sounds like hip-hop to me. Not in the strictest sense, I don't know the exact differences between hip hop and rap (they say these differences exist), but I know that what I heard is what they often use to characature black dudes.

  • EnglishEfternamn, What do you think of the new reply/rating system?

I know it's random, trust me I just wanted to hear your thoughts.

  • youtube clean up has sent you a warning.

  • Fuck you, automated message machine!

  • you wil recieve one last warning. If you fail to cooperate with youtube cleanup then you will be forcibly banned or suspended from youtube.

  • And yet you go and ignore the garbage (spam) that is spread around the website every hour?

  • Message BD-461: "Since we here at youtube cannot constantly clean up ALL the spam, chain messages and bad replys we have installed a new feature which allows you to rate how good another persons reply/message is. If it is good you press the thumbs up button next to their account name. If it is bad press the thumbs down button. This will effect the persons account and a bot will check on the person if their is anything wrong the bot will send a message to the person that was given a thumbs down."

  • I know its you who sent me that. Your ytcleanup arent you.

  • I may be chiming in a bit late, (a month, in fact) But I should probably point out that Nintendo is a Japanese company; i.e, most of the workers are likely Japanese, with a relatively minor translation team. And in that assuming other people are racist, I submit that you're the one who's racist in overanalyzing the situation and succumbing to racial stereotypes. To use your own example, what if they asked him what his favorite music was, and it WAS hip-hop? Hmm? It could easily be coincidental.

  • You thought wrong, idiot. This was the first system that was constructed with near slave labour in that barbarric land they call China. If you look at Nintendo's previous systems, AND the other 64-bit systems that came BEFORE the n64, you'll see that they all have something in common. THEY WERE MADE IN JAPAN, where they conduct business like human beings.

  • ...The N64 was NOT the first piece of 64-bit hardware, neither was it even that great. It just happened to be cheap because they managed to produce it at lower costs than the 3DO or the Cdi. It's elementary economics, moron. Then they used people like these slime to exaggerate the "strongpoints". I wouldn't be surprised of all of them, except for Armond, were from the depths of 'Jersey.

  • EnglishEfternamn, I'm beginning to see that other guy's point. SHUT UP! god, this is a promo from 11 years ago!! SHUT THE FUCK UP ALREADY! you need need to nit-pick every Fucking game or song/whatever!

  • I didn't mean you needed to, I meant you don't need to comment every time someone says like "What's this song?" and once again SHUT UP!

  • Make me, bitch.

  • Why should I? I care more about Roller Coasters as a hobby then old video games. I mean I like old games and some of them where made for the n64 but not all of them. Plus, your insults are really childish. and reallly stupid.

  • Then leave!

  • no.

  • Neither will I. Can't handle it, get the fuck out.

  • See below. Shows you one can only trust a WASP to conduct business honestly.

  • whats the name of the song was playing from 3:34 to 4:05?

  • A song that was of much higher quality than the game, and therefore, wasn't in it, but the Nintendo fuckers implied it was nonetheless. 'Jersey type slimbuckets.

  • opps, my comment was not meant here, anyone a song that was playing in part1? in the part where they show mario 64.

  • I didn't like Pilotwings. It was pretty gay.

  • At about 0:52 or so, that one guy's like...."Just like dat, Just like dat!" What a dork.

  • To be fair to Nintendo, though, I think they peaked with the SNES. Yes, I said it. Even though it's power can't compare with the later systems, it had the highest amount of great games. And newer graphics have failed miserably (with with the PS3) in trying to create character faces, so they always look "blocky" and I HATE that. That being said, games looked better when they looked more cartoonish.

  • i have played golden eye so many times used to have sold it want it back lol i have perfect dark and most of these games i have or played lol killer instict gold at the end pwns still love playing that game

  • To support the guy who said that the games were better then some the others made by different companies is right. Nintendo made some good stuff, some people just don't like to admit but that's seeing it my way. IMHO.

  • ty man

  • No Prob, man. I got my N64 in 1997, and I still have it. I still play NFL Blitz, NBA on NBC showtime and Goldeneye here and there and it sits alongside my PS2 and GTA games.

  • hell yeah same here got mine in 96 though. n64 was the best.

  • Yeah, NO...

  • shutup loser

  • i know you are but what am i?

  • wow what are you 5? lol grow up

  • im pretty sure u are, ya idiot

  • how am I an idiot? your the one who has no idea how a good comeback is formed.

  • dude im in class so i could take u on for the whole hour, YA IDIOT

  • me too. So whats next? your going to tell me im a butt head?

  • well im pretty sure u are, but dont hate yerself 4 it

  • wow i just made a comeback for you. Tell you what you comeback when you think of something good to say. Either that or i can keep making this easy for me to diss you.

  • you can never diss me legitimately, im 4 that and im pretty sure u know it! lolololololol

  • are we done here? have used up your brain for the day?

  • u just dont like me cause im smarter, better looking too....

  • lol your definitly not smarter and your ugly as fuck. I would know because I've seen your mother.

  • wtf man i didnt even reply to you? what are you magic or something? and yes this game system does deserve some credit. They may not have been the first to develop or put 360 gameplay in their games but their games were better than most of the shit the other companies put out!

  • Bull. I could think of three systems that were better than this garbage. Yes, the n64 was garbage, in my opinion. And they DID mislead the public. But I do think Super Mario Sunshine and the GameCube were a major improvement.

  • I take it your not a Goldeneye or Perfect Dark fan are you? 0_o EnglishEfternamn

  • no hes not he just likes to comment on the n64 cause its a peice of garbage but I love Goldeeneye never played perfect dark though.

  • Again, I never said it didn't have a FEW fun games. Goldeneye was actually one of my favourite and I played it for months. But I thought SMS had about ten times more reply value than SM64. SM64 just could never KEEP my attention, the graphics were overrated, so was the music, and the plot had no substance.

  • n64=#1 1996-2001

  • lol you must be dreaming.....or your just a wise-ass. SMS was a good game in my opinion other people dont think so. what i do know is that after 2002 the gamecube sucked. Btw on n64 Goldeneye was the one who brought first person shooting into the home system. Thats why back then you could see house o the dead on Dreamcast or Pc or whatever it came out on. There are other FPS but thats not the point. n64 is better than all those "360" consoles combined.

  • bottom line: This is a cool system!

  • "Cool" system is a relative term. What deals with facts is the claim that Nintendo misleaded the consumers into believing this system deserved more credit than it did, and as I have demonstrated, this is a claim that can be backed with evidence.

  • You're the one who started this, you went whining because you couldn't handle the n64 getting a little bit of criticism. Then you resort to straying from the point and using fallacious arguments. It's only because you've obviously run out of good things to say.

  • Your the one whos a bitch

  • Nice comeback, by the way

  • In Fact all they say about 3d gameplay is "Wow Look at his movement!" or "Look at those graphics" or even "Hey he just walked through a door" The rest of the video is about the games themselves.

  • Stating that the N64 has qualities that no other system can match? "360 viewing" "360 graphic interpretations" and "too many other things that are going to blow your mind!!!", please. These fuckers more than implied they invented this stuff, the fact is that the n64 was nothing special...

  • HEY ASSHOLE! They never actually said that they invented the graphics (like you said they did) so you admit that your wrong? that they only implyed it? And if the n64 was nothing special why would you even daare click something about it?

  • Scratch that, you never had anything good to say in the first place.

  • I have better things to say than you my friend.

  • That go take care of them, why didn't you do that in the first place?

  • Weren't there a couple of systems that started experimenting with 360 degree control about 3 years prior to the N64? Anyone ever hear of the Panasonic 3D0 or the Philips Cdi?

  • 3D0 failed. Stop trying to dismantle the importance of the N64 if you like those other systems play them and stop whining how SM64 wasnt as good as you thought it was going to be.

  • Not that it didn't have fun games, but why should I give it credit for untrue claims. About 3 or 4 other systems beat this piece of junk to the punch. This one just happened to go mainstream first because Nintendo found a way to make it relatively cheap, probably through slave labour to construct it.

  • can you name all 3 or 4 I KNOW 3DO and Philips Ci werent any of those because they sucked.

  • You're missing the point. Whether or not they sucked is a relative issue. What I am saying was that the N64 was not the first system with 64-bit gameplay, nor was it the first system that experimented with 360 degree control. Yet these morons claimed it was.

  • So? If they claimed it they were smart. It was a good thing to do for buisness. They knew that no one would recognize the 3DO or Philips Cdi so they claimed they were the first. Thats not stupid thats smart. But still i want to know 4 system names that were before n64 that had 360 degree game play

  • The 3DO, the Cdi, the Atari Jaguar, and the Sega CD. Note that most of the games for these systems did not have 360 degree gameplay, but they DID have games that experimented with it. And two of these systems had 64-bit graphics. These companies should have bound together and sued the heck out these fuckers. But these systems are form companies that went under, probably because they stayed based in Japan when Nintendo moved to slave labour in China.

  • games that experimented with #60 game play or HAD 30 game play? An d why do you think nintendo uses slave labour? and furthermore f you dont believe that nintendo is true and isnt the first wjhy are you watching this fucking video.

  • That's irrelevent. What's relevent is that Nintendo lied. 360 degree control was not their invention. Neither was 64-bit graphics so just accept the fucking truth. And it does not take a rocket scientist to figure how they made a 64-bit system affordable in 1996. Why do you think assembly is done in China now, when everything before the N64 was made in Japan?

  • Whats irrelevent? And when did nintendo ever say "Yes well,360 degree gameplay was our creation and nobody else ever had it before us" When do they say that? And still why do you continue to watch the videos of Nintendo? It doesent make much sense.

  • ...other than that they managed to make it affordable, and I already explained how that was (probably) done. And why the fuck do you keep asking about me watching the video? Quite strayin from the point, you nosey fascist.

  • And i keep fucking asking because your a fucking whiny bitch who keeps saying the smae fucking thing over again! "Oh nintendo uses slave labor! They werent the first ones to usse this element in game play" JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP! (and why are you calling me a nosey fascist? The reason i ask these questions is because you dont make any sense. BTW Swedens gay)

  • "N64, we call it that, because it is the world's first piece of 64-bit hardware..." --What the fuck do you call that? Then they go on to analyse meaningless things, like how Mario "goes into a door", play hip-hop music when the only black man on the Nintendo teams walks into the room, and imply that the games have better music than they really do.

  • Stop criticising a system that was released 11 YEARS AGO! Why do you click on a nintendo video when the n64 was obviously something you oppose? You have no life. Thats the answer right there. So shut up reply all you want I am going to ignore your bitchy whining because no matter what i say your going to say the same shit over again and go on a rant as you just have.

  • Like you have the last 8 or so posts? I obviously struck a nerve, from the very first post. If not, then why not just leave me alone? You can't seem to accept that I'm right and you're wrong, so you go and ask the same damn questions each post while I simply cited facts. Don't ya got any brains in there?

  • Get N or.....GTFO!!!

  • Those 2 lightsaber guys were creepy. Anyone remember the other promo video from Nintendo Power? The one where the two bad guys from Sony and Sega kidnap the Nintendo guy.

  • it was the Starfox 64 promo its here on youtube.

  • Damn ...Goldeneye was first a on rail game

  • Ha ha, I had this video. I'm positive Nintendo would still be on top of the video game world if it hadn't chosen to use catridges. This kind of makes me sorry I sold my N64 a few years ago.

  • Man those guys were bad on the first mission of shadows and I think it was on easy but the best game on there was goldeneye even though I love shadows and starfox

  • n64 for life

  • I have this video also. What kind of music that this whole video plays? Give me the first name of the song that was played when Mario is Flying.

This Nintendo 64 promo still rocks!

  • The version of Starfox 64 they showed actually looks better than the American version.

  • good times.

  • Kirby's Air Ride was supposed to be a N64 game?!

  • 200 for n64?!.... im lucky my neighbor had 1

  • Game systems usually start out that expensive when new.

  • I still love my N64 and Pilot Wings. I think it's time to play N64

  • omg, like the mario part, it too is so damn 90s lol
