Nice plug for shelter cats. They really need somebody, and sometimes you can find a Maine Coon or mix. Largest cat I've heard of is a 4 foot (nose to tip of tail) Maine Coon.

He loved Christmas and laying underneath the Christmas tree. He was a trip. He even brought home the bacon and made me $40. He was a special kitty that would make your day. He would come running like a little dog when you called him. When he was being mischievous, I would say "Sasha" in a stern way and he would yell back "Meow" on cue. Funny.
Tuxedo cats can be even heavier than Coons, though usually not larger in size. My tuxedo cat was 22-23 pounds at his heaviest, but not even that fat. He was just very large boned and powerful. Broke my mothers leg in 3 places when he pulled her across the yard on his leash. To the vet, he was a "truck", rather than a cat. "oh, why don't you park your truck right up here on this table".
I don't think you should compare them that way. Tuxedo coat is a type of coat for bicolored cats and many breeds can have the tuxedo pattern, including the maine coons. Maybe your cat is one of the larger breeds that happened to have a tuxedo pattern.

@amarige25 we had a neighbor that didnt like us that worked for the local pound she had him picked up sayin he was wild and had him put down he didnt look any thing like a bobcat well before he died we took him to a vet to see why he was so big the vet did a genetic test it determined he was part bobcat other wise we wouldnt have known
@thedoubledeus That is horrible. How dare someone have your pet put down. I know you said he was wild, but other cats eat rabbits too, and they are not mixed with bobcat. This is a natural occurrence. I pulled up a youtube video of a cat eating a rabbit. He ate every bit.
My Maine Coon is the coolest, but she's not like, huge, pretty average sized cat. But definitely the most chill cat I've ever had ever. She's the best.

Regarding them being vicious around other animals,, I have not seen it my boy. He lives with four other females all non MCs and is excellent with them. He tumbles about with them but no more than any other male. Are they known for being great hunters? Mine pulls frogs out of the pond but never eats them. Just smacks them a bit around the garden.
@rohansrider Probably d/n eat them as you keep him well fed. And, yes Maine Coons have had the rep for bing excellent hunters. {& even "ratters" in the true Maine farm cat history}
We rescued our 18 lb maine coon cat from a shelter when we started looking for a different cat. We went to pet smart to see if they had the cat we were looking for but we were told they had a maine coon and my dad wanted her so we ended up with Molly. Her personality.... Well let's say she's one crazy kitty! She makes sure my floor is clean of creepy crawlies, licks you to death, and begs for table scraps! She's like a puppy!
There was one time a bald eagle had landed in my lawn and my cat, a Maine Coon named Goku went right at it, jumped on the eagle before it could react, killed it, and then ate it. Then again he tends to also go after Vultures, Geese, Ducks, Condors, and one time a small Komodo Dragon, which was bigger than him, but he had also killed before it could react. My neighbor likes to have exotic pets, my cat however loves eating them.
Maine Coons are gentle around people, vicious around anything else.
@SmartGuy4today Did you make a video of that? I would love to see that. Maine Coons aren't punks that's for sure. My cat will whip another cat to shreds. He won't bother a cat that's a kitten or real small. He also likes tabbies. Just don't hiss at him and you're cool.
@SerenaEvenStar Uh not really. Maine Coons range from 15-20 pounds generally. A small one would be about 10 pounds, which most likely would be a female Maine Coon.
I adopted my 5 year old Maine Coon from the local animal shelter. He's brought so much joy to my life, and I love him to death :). Glad you rescued such a cute kitty! And Maine Coons rock!
well i have to agree maine coon's are incredibly cute, caring and more and the thing i find most amazing about them is that they start off as cute lil kittens and then they grow into a huge heavy cat XD well so i hear my mum had one but lets just say it didn't adapt very well to a new enviroment :S
We have a rescue Maine Coon also. We adopted him at a local shelter about 5 years ago. He has finally quite growing and according to my Wii Fit scales the other day, he's at 23.8 pounds. Big boy. Maine Coons rule!! I have had two. Cooper was our most recent. He lived to be 15 before we had to put him down due to stomach cancer. Had him since he was a kitten. At his best he weighed 22 lbs. He was a true member of the family and spoke his mind openly! :)

@amarige25 so he is more like 14 years young than 14 years old... our oldest cat was a domestic short hair, was one of the biggest cats we had ever had before my maine coon, our short hair died at the age of 16, the maine coon of ours past away when he was 13.. sigh

He was mis-treated before and very shy and nervous but has come such a long way in 15 months and now comes on my lap for cuddles, and loves having his belly rubbed!! yep, i have a female, 4 year old maine coon cat. silver and black. named Mystique. she was attacked a lot in the adoption place but finally lets me rub her belly now. she trusts me that much =] yes, she doesnt like to get on laps, she squeeks, and hates being picked up and is huge. she once slept on my lap though. that deserves a medal lol
Looks kinda like my Geep, minus the white on the tummy and paws. He's a rescue too. I thought he was fully grown when I got him but he was only 4 months. I'd never heard of Maine Coons then. Now I know! They're huge, but very, very lovable.
I also rescued a male Maine Coon (brown tabby, white chest and paws). He was my best friend for years until he passed away at age 20. Sasha looks like a beautiful, gentle, strong and funny boy. I'm sure you give him as much joy as he gives you.
i have an awesome cat his name is wuffy fox. he's just a loves fluff ball. and he loves to sleep in people's hair. he's kinda looks like a Maine coon and also looks kinda like a Turkish angora but i have no clue. to me he's just a wuffy.
You can call him whatever you feel is appropriate. You don't need papers to determine a cat's breed. Just go to websites for both breeds and see which one he looks like the most.
I have a Mainecoon mix who was adopted from the SPCA by a mom for her kids when he was 3 months old. They didn't understand him, so they passed him on to another mother and her kids... They didn't understand him, either. She was going to let him loose in an empty lot to fend for himself. I couldn't let it happen, so I took him and he has been my pal ever since. :)
He shows his love, every day. Brings me things, purrs and meows for me and never ever hisses at me or scratches me in anger. His buddy, a Japanese Bobtail look-alike is another hard luck case. This guy I was dating found him in the middle of a road, at night and stopped for him. Dirty, scrawny kitten no older and 2 months. He shows his love in his own special way by stealing the slip guards from the bath tub and waking me up in time for work, every day. Never a bad attitude from my boys. :)
he looks just like what my old maine coon looked like, her name was dixie, she was such a sweet cat, there was no other cat like her, she passed in 2007 when she was 17 years old, only she was much lighter, 8-10 pounds

<333 Maine Coons... the BEST cats I swear! I miss my baby, Crouton :[ He was only 1 year and 1 month old when he died while I was in Mexico while my boyfriend was watching my house. He just came inside after seeing him 2 hours before and Crouton was dead on the floor. The absolute love of my life, taken from me so early.
I'm sorry to hear about your pet. I know pets are like family and losing them can be traumatic. When you are ready consider getting another pet because there are so many that are homeless. They could use your help.
What a magnificent feline! Thank God for wonderful people like you who rescue cats! I too am a dedicated volunteer and supporter of local shelters :-) I have actually seen many Main Coons pass through the shelter doors and thankfully be adopted.
we hadour Ultimate Puff, "Kiton'"(because sometimes she seemed to weigh a lot!)got her as a baby from a neighbor for free. We looked up breeds and she looked like a Maine Coon mostly- but the thing about her was that she was the softest thing we ever touched besides things like dandelion fluff, milkweed silk, etc. She was so purrrfect. We miss her a lot. She was with us 12 years.
I know you loved that special kitty. I will always love me gentle giant, too. I don't thing they know how big they are. The funny thing is Sasha doesn't eat a lot for his size.

Well, you meant well. Cats are very much like people. They know how to beg and get their way. And because they are so cute, we give in. It's hard for all of us to only give them cat food and not human food, which can lead to health problems.
i bet you they stole your heart with the sweet faces. I wonder why they are so cute. It's not fair to put that much cuteness in one breed. i love Sasha very much too. Can you believe his previous owner surrendered him and he was scheduled to be put down. he's a dream. he's very loving and protective of me. he's the man of the house.
We adopted a 7 yr old female maine coon who someone had taken all claws away. She may be a little touched mentally but is a true beauty and is now a healthy 16 years old. You've done right by the God and She loves you for taking care of one of Her creations. Thank you.

i've got a maine coon myself, but she isnt as large as yours, she looks almost exactly like sasha, just he head is more "female" , but strangely she is as big as an ordinary domestic cat. hope she will not suffer from poor health.

Their are Maine Coon rescues all over.....these animals are amazing. I will ALWAYS have Maine Coons. 4 out of 5 of my cats are rescues and saving them is the best thing I've ever done:)
I have a 13-year old Maine Coon cat called Rusty. But right now I have to treat him for hyperthyroidism and kidney failure. I hope he'll stay with me for a while, he's responding well to his medication.
my female is also hyperthyroid and early chronic renal failure. has cost me thousands but my vet is great she also has my maine coon male on blood pressure medication and does regular blood pressure checks
you most likely right. most people who don't know think he's a normal tabby, like my boyfrient, but those who know, know he's definitely a Maine Coon and not just another fluffy cat.

20 lbs is smallish for a main coon... i have a regular DSH and he's 17 lbs of muscle (not an ounce of fat on him)....

Maine Coons rule!! I have had two. Cooper was our most recent. He lived to be 15 before we had to put him down due to stomach cancer. Had him since he was a kitten. At his best he weighed 22 lbs. He was a true member of the family and spoke his mind openly! :)

Thank you everyone for your support of this video. I know it's amateurish, but this was the first video I ever made. I barely knew how to work a digital camera and I sure as heck didn't know how to edit, so onetruemedia seemed like a good fit. I love this cat with all of my heart. I've had him since he was 9 years old. He's 14 now. He still has a lot of spunk and he's naturally photogenic. I own two of the best cats. I highly recommend this breed. You will love them to death.

Your Sasha looks exactly like my Mojo who I loved with all my heart and tragically lost after only two short years. One day I'll get another one. If he has half of the personality Mojo does I will be blessed again. Best cat ever.

Handsome cat. All Maine coons are large. At 20 lbs, this guy was lean. There are larger MCs who top out at 30 lbs., and it's not unusual.

@amarige25 so he is more like 14 years young than 14 years old... our oldest cat was a domestic short hair, was one of the biggest cats we had ever had before my maine coon, our short hair died at the age of 16, the maine coon of ours past away when he was 13.. sigh

Thanks for sharing, what a lovely boy! I rescued a huge 8kg Maine coon 7 year old boy called boo last January. He was mis-treated before and very shy and nervous but has come such a long way in 15 months and now comes on my lap for cuddles, and loves having his belly rubbed!! They are such loving and understanding cats, and I love how big they are! Just more to cuddle!! xxx

yep, i have a female, 4 year old maine coon cat. silver and black. named Mystique. she was attacked a lot in the adoption place but finally lets me rub her belly now. she trusts me that much =] yes, she doesnt like to get on laps, she squeeks, and hates being picked up and is huge. she once slept on my lap though. that deserves a medal lol

Looks kinda like my Geep, minus the white on the tummy and paws. He's a rescue too. I thought he was fully grown when I got him but he was only 4 months. I'd never heard of Maine Coons then. Now I know! They're huge, but very, very lovable.

I also rescued a male Maine Coon (brown tabby, white chest and paws). He was my best friend for years until he passed away at age 20. Sasha looks like a beautiful, gentle, strong and funny boy. I'm sure you give him as much joy as he gives you.

i have an awesome cat his name is wuffy fox. he's just a loves fluff ball. and he loves to sleep in people's hair. he's kinda looks like a Maine coon and also looks kinda like a Turkish angora but i have no clue. to me he's just a wuffy.

You can call him whatever you feel is appropriate. You don't need papers to determine a cat's breed. Just go to websites for both breeds and see which one he looks like the most.

I have a Mainecoon mix who was adopted from the SPCA by a mom for her kids when he was 3 months old. They didn't understand him, so they passed him on to another mother and her kids... They didn't understand him, either. She was going to let him loose in an empty lot to fend for himself. I couldn't let it happen, so I took him and he has been my pal ever since. :)

He shows his love, every day. Brings me things, purrs and meows for me and never ever hisses at me or scratches me in anger. His buddy, a Japanese Bobtail look-alike is another hard luck case. This guy I was dating found him in the middle of a road, at night and stopped for him. Dirty, scrawny kitten no older and 2 months. He shows his love in his own special way by stealing the slip guards from the bath tub and waking me up in time for work, every day. Never a bad attitude from my boys. :)

he looks just like what my old maine coon looked like, her name was dixie, she was such a sweet cat, there was no other cat like her, she passed in 2007 when she was 17 years old, only she was much lighter, 8-10 pounds

<333 Maine Coons... the BEST cats I swear! I miss my baby, Crouton :[ He was only 1 year and 1 month old when he died while I was in Mexico while my boyfriend was watching my house. He just came inside after seeing him 2 hours before and Crouton was dead on the floor. The absolute love of my life, taken from me so early.
Maybe this is why your video gets me teary?

What a magnificent feline! Thank God for wonderful people like you who rescue cats! I too am a dedicated volunteer and supporter of local shelters :-) I have actually seen many Main Coons pass through the shelter doors and thankfully be adopted.

we hadour Ultimate Puff, "Kiton'"(because sometimes she seemed to weigh a lot!)got her as a baby from a neighbor for free. We looked up breeds and she looked like a Maine Coon mostly- but the thing about her was that she was the softest thing we ever touched besides things like dandelion fluff, milkweed silk, etc. She was so purrrfect. We miss her a lot. She was with us 12 years.

ya i had a maine coon for a bit he was 9 months old and barely ate any of his dry food at all. but he would eat canned tuna like crazy (i didnt realize i shouldntve fed him that until several months after i sold him)

Well, you meant well. Cats are very much like people. They know how to beg and get their way. And because they are so cute, we give in. It's hard for all of us to only give them cat food and not human food, which can lead to health problems.

We adopted a 7 yr old female maine coon who someone had taken all claws away. She may be a little touched mentally but is a true beauty and is now a healthy 16 years old. You've done right by the God and She loves you for taking care of one of Her creations. Thank you.

i've got a maine coon myself, but she isnt as large as yours, she looks almost exactly like sasha, just he head is more "female" , but strangely she is as big as an ordinary domestic cat. hope she will not suffer from poor health.
she is a rescue, too and i would love to find another precious to care of.

Their are Maine Coon rescues all over.....these animals are amazing. I will ALWAYS have Maine Coons. 4 out of 5 of my cats are rescues and saving them is the best thing I've ever done:)

my female is also hyperthyroid and early chronic renal failure. has cost me thousands but my vet is great she also has my maine coon male on blood pressure medication and does regular blood pressure checks
