You think netbooks perform poorly? 1.2GHz Atom w/ 1GB ram running Win7 Home Premium?.. crazy. Good luck with getting that 5Hr battery life. ipad has no flash, air or any other sort of online multimedia software except for quicktime which is a lot worse than the others

ipad is controlled solely by apple so they block a bunch of applications and software programs while the hp slate is run by windows 7 which does not block them.

you must not know a lot about computers. Tablet computers have been around for years, ipad just made an oversized iphone, its the same OS as the iphone only without the ability to make calls, you can not even view flash media on an ipad unless you jailbreak it but then that voids the warranty. Windows 7 is a great distro that is more compatible with whatever software is out . Not to mention that the processor and ram is large enough to support it.

You try clicking on the file view controls and tabs! They are a 1/4 of the size of your fingernail on your index finger.

Sure this is a CG example. But unless Win 7 runs a skin or a totally new OS this will be a nightmare. You will be continually zooming just to use the controls. Not Awesome - Terrible.

Windows 7 has some native Touch screen capabilities that if you ask me make it good enough to use. Also u can download the microsoft touvh pack for it and it'll have touchscreen games and apps that are awesome. I think this is a pretty good tablet. Better than Ipad at least since it can do way more.

Just demo'd the iPad. Was bored within 30 mins. Basically just a big iTouch and the after grilling the Apple guy with lots of interactive tech questions, he finally gave up on being able to answer. Oh well.. I have hope with the HP Slate.

Hp Slate UI physics=Fail! Come on, It blows my mind that something as simple as UI physics which apple portable devices have (smooth flow) has not been properly replicated on any other mobile device. No matter how good the UI is, but if it doesn't feel smooth there's no fun in it for me. Come on guys, Apple has set the bar now try to match it. Unless Apple has patented it, which I highly doubt.

Looks fantastic! But why oh why did they use a full OS? Tablets have been around for year now and most have failed due to using a full OS which is just pants to use with touch screen! They would have been better to use Windows Phone 7 as an OS and let people download the applications they need form the windows app store! Full OS + Touch screen does NOT work! JooJoo and the iPad, theses are much more suited to the job. Give people the option HP as i know this would put me off!

Looks sluggish and not nearly as responsive as the overpriced iPad. Microsoft needs to create new OS for devices like tablets. They shouldn't just slap windows starter on there and have a company create a UI on TOP of that (which slows it down even more), they should create an OS that's optimized for a tablet but still Windows.

. I would never buy this. It's just a netbook with the keyboad/touchpad replaced with a touch screen. Better luck next time, MS.

APPLE choose not to have these features because they want you to pay more on accessories. APPLE has always about beauty over practically which why only 15% of people uses macs. these tablets have too much internals. an atom processor needs a fan and multiple ports will weigh the product down. the iPad is 1.5lbs and even then some people complain it's too heavy to hold for long periods of time. you're setting yourself up for failure when people start using it. think logical and not what everyone wants because sometimes the consumer doesn't really know what they want. now go fire all of your engineers because they're not doing their job right.

i c some flaws like u noticed they didn't turn the device it was always in portrait mode.If it has flash,zoom, removable memory and some kind of 3G I can eliminate like three devices(LAPTOP,nook,phone).Thi­s ad tells me two thing good bye ereaders and am damn sure going to wait too buy a tab.
