  • Hi, 2/4 rhythm is when the bass plays on beats 1 & 3 per measure. In 4/4 rhythm, the bass plays on all 4 beats. Swing is 4/4, most twenties music and polkas, etc are 2/4. I use to perform this very arrangement with my orchestra. Royal Society Jazz Orchestra, see youtube.

  • Ironically, this song is in 2/4 rhythm.

  • What does it mean though to be in 2/4 rhythm v.s. 4/4 rhythm?

(I'm not a musically inclined person, although I do like this song).

  • @6374112 I agree. Great song, though.

  • great, swingin' record

  • Great song! Thanks!

  • The debate still rages between the two beat and the four/four, with passionate partisans on either side. I tend to want to swing, but two beat can do that too, if there's a wiggle in it.

  • Good record, may I ask wich ball room is the first picture?

  • Brilliantly catchy!

  • Perfect music for a New Year ball. He may sing about the Charleston being "passe" in 1929, but it is very much in vogue here in 2007!

  • Very Good,Doc

  • Wow, the strings of this roaring video pulled my head up from wallowing in the dreary rain. Thanks!
