  • I don't like the way Bon Bon Kojack was treated in this concert, he never sung any song at all but only danced, its not fair!! Werrason is not fair.

  • Did anybody heard Fabrice saying Bodry Mbambi?

    My real names

  • so for this zenith concert, approxometlely how much would each of des musicians get paid and it what currency, euros? or dollars?

because i always wonder to myself does des musicians actually live a good life, like have a nice house, nice cars, because i know werrason has a wealthy life, his bought quite a few luxury houses in congo but does hes dancers and instrumentalists have a good life aswell?????

someone please tell me, sorry, i have been thinking about this for months now

  • @blackberry12345100 Staff Benda Bilili (favourites of the 'world music' circuit at the moment) are getting 30 Euros per musician per gig, Scandalous!. In London congolese bands earn more the less there are in the band. it is a standard £500 per band per gig. London bands get between £50 and £80 per musician with 9 in the band. When I asked a band leader about huge bands like Werrason and zaiko he said they will probably get nothing the receipts go to the patrons! is this legal?

  • @fitzjames; If dont know the financial arrangements in these big band better shut up rather than spreading these falsehoods

  • @potsefu I am talking from my own experience as a producer of congolese music and working with congolese musicians. This is what Congolese musicians are telling me! But if you do know the Financial arrangements of the big bands TELL US!!! If they are getting good rates this would be helpful to know for musicains over here to negotiate better rates. I am pretty sure they are not in a Union. I only commented on what I do know.

  • @fitzjames The big bands have sponsors ( Bralima and Bracongo) who provide money that is used to pay regular staff a defined salary that is why for example in Maison Mere some very talented artists have been there for over 10 years (Kakol, Heritier, Ali Mbonda, Kalome Linda). Remuneration was, yes was a problem before but band leaders have learnt. Several others have been with WMMM over 6 years and still there at the moment - Deplik, Lobeasu, Fabrice, Meil, Brigade, Capuchino, Olivier, Taddet

  • @potsefu I am aware of this sponsorship deal system. It makes sense but I would still query how much these great musicians get individually from the deal. I know in DRC playing live for VIPs and doing weddings, parties and funeral gigs can be relatively lucrative. Mimi Mongo financed her own album using this revenue source. Obviously for great musicians to stay loyal it must be worth their while and not all the bands enjoy sponsor support. but you have shed some light on the subject so thanks.
