In my country I can get a second hand E60 V10 M5 for less than 40k €. The GTR will be around 100k..
I'd love to have both, but the M5 has always been on my dreamlist, so I guess I'd get that one first. A nice P800 would be sweet to have too obviously.

The GTR is a great car for the price. To be honest though I'd take the M5 over the GTR I don't really care that the GTR is faster and that it can compete with cars that are double the price because at the end of the day I'm going to be driving a BMW and not a Nissan. That being said the GTR is a great car. I would just prefer the M5.
@yepitsHugo29 As far as cool points, some may prefer the M5, but having driven both, I greatly prefer the GTR, its all about transmissions. The M5's SMG and Stick are not exciting, while the GTR's automatic transmission is unlike anything else I have ever felt. Nirvana.

If you look carefull at the GT-R wheels, you will see that there's a moment when the pilot stops accelerating. Why don't they make the race since stopped? Or why don't they try with the 2012 Nissan GT-R with 550 cv??

it is a point.......the gtr might destroy nearly everything from germany on a track....but german build quality,engineering are unbeatable from any country including japan...sticking big,really big and truck size turbo chargers to cars isnt rocket science.its simple,normally aspirated cars,m3,m5 are better than others with blowers...plus a bmw is a bmw ,ie a great car,it doesnt make bad cars,the nissan is a stablemate of a few embarrassments.plus...the m5 actually wins the race. :)

@Howie262 Fact the BMW M5 is not a family sedan that would be the 5 series. The M5 is a high performance sports car. Also the Porsche Turbo S PDK was specifically designed to go fast in a straightline, where as the Nissan GTR was designed to be a track performer. Where theres also the price difference between the two. Infact the new 2013 Nissan GTR would be a more comparison to the Porsche Turbo S.

A both cars are very fast, but GT-R needs Porsche or Ferrari like opponents and M5 needs RS6, E63 AMG or Jaguar XFR like opponents. It´s simple. I am a cars fan and I say - GT-R is very fast and cheap and M5 is the best fast sedan. And best sport car? Cars like Porsche GT3 or Ferrari 430 Scuderia - lightweight, raw power, experiences and balance. Speed isn´t everything. My opinion ;-)

No brainer that a modified M5 much better placed to pull the stock GTR; but/ and only in a straight line, higher terminal velocity (power output) - see what happens at 1:35 : M5 can't handle the turn. Be more balanced next time or else you come across as biased IMO.

Give the two cars the same power/weight ratio at the very least, other constants remaining the same (e.g all 4WD, forced induction,etc). I raced an M5 last night in Anaheim. I wasn't even in the right gear and pulled in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. I clicked it into 1st but either way I hade several car lengths on him. Sooo...I don't understand how this M5 could have beat me in the "top end" like some of you claim.
I dont consider "BMW M5 Evosport headers and pulleys, Dinan mufflers and aftermarket ECU and RPI scoops" as just exhaust. M5board.com has threads dedicated to just the headers and pulleys alone, which dynoed at 467whp which is a large sum over the typical 415-430whp for a stock M5. And were just talking about the headers/pulleys here. Factor in the rest of the mods and hes putting down much more power than a stock GTR. Not downplaying the top end of the M5. Just stating the facts.

Both cars are really sick, and are both favourites of mine. Driven them both on the track, and on public roads. I must say the Bimmer gives slightly more comfort and luxury, and is a BEAST on the highway. However, the GTR is FASTER. It handled better on the track, and is much more quicker on every turn and just pulls harder. It also feels more sportier. (and looks sportier too). But the M5.... is a BEAAAAAASTT... if I had to pick one I would still take the M5. Only cause it has 5 PROPER seats.
Every 1 is that thinks the BMW M5 is fast your al wrong. Because. The m5 had tunes cams and so on. The GTR was bone stock. And it was still in the lead for a long time. When the 200hp+ extra m5 was catching up

The GTR is a great car for the price. To be honest though I'd take the M5 over the GTR I don't really care that the GTR is faster and that it can compete with cars that are double the price because at the end of the day I'm going to be driving a BMW and not a Nissan. That being said the GTR is a great car. I would just prefer the M5.

The truth is, there is no comparison on a performance level.
Stock - nothing BMW builds will touch a GT-R (this was a CBA GT-R with 485 HP versus the current 545 HP 2013 DBA GT-R). That is not BMW's goal.
The BMW is what it is - one of the best luxury cars that is also very fast.
No need to hate on either car - they are both very impressive.

Also the Porsche Turbo S PDK was specifically designed to go fast in a straightline, where as the Nissan GTR was designed to be a track performer. Where theres also the price difference between the two. Infact the new 2013 Nissan GTR would be a more comparison to the Porsche Turbo S.

A both cars are very fast, but GT-R needs Porsche or Ferrari like opponents and M5 needs RS6, E63 AMG or Jaguar XFR like opponents. It´s simple. I am a cars fan and I say - GT-R is very fast and cheap and M5 is the best fast sedan. And best sport car? Cars like Porsche GT3 or Ferrari 430 Scuderia - lightweight, raw power, experiences and balance. Speed isn´t everything. My opinion ;-)

Give the two cars the same power/weight ratio at the very least, other constants remaining the same (e.g all 4WD, forced induction,etc). And the BMW tune is already a very high standard and there is no point doing it.

M5board.com has threads dedicated to just the headers and pulleys alone, which dynoed at 467whp which is a large sum over the typical 415-430whp for a stock M5. And were just talking about the headers/pulleys here. Factor in the rest of the mods and hes putting down much more power than a stock GTR. Not downplaying the top end of the M5. @BMWSupermann got to laugh at the big headed attitude you have with bmw or as you call them, best motor works, more like boring motor works, M5= ugly, 3 series = over rated, X5 = useless off roader, X6= pointless exercise to name but a few. i will happily post you a link of a nissan GT-R beating a veyron... no problem, veyron = 407kph GT-R= maybe 340kph..... GT-R owns Veyron everywhere apart from 2 roads..... i drive my awesome (Real, Not imaginary like your M6) BMW 535d with Ecu tune, (produces about 340bhp 650nm) good enough for having fun and commuting. did i tell you that my two favourite cars are the GT-R and the M5, before you start calling me a Fan boy LOL which you obviously are over imaginary cars HAHA go dream more!!

it was a lot closer than i expected. of course GTR would eat the M5 alive either from standing start or around the bends, but on this particular run the M5 did very well.

That GTR is soooo fucking sexy. I'd love to have one in black or red. The only thing I'd do differently if I was Nissan was release it as an Infiniti instead of a Nissan and they probably could've added 10-15k as a premium.

Both cars are really sick, and are both favourites of mine. Driven them both on the track, and on public roads. I must say the Bimmer gives slightly more comfort and luxury, and is a BEAST on the highway. However, the GTR is FASTER. It handled better on the track, and is much more quicker on every turn and just pulls harder. It also feels more sportier. (and looks sportier too). But the M5.... is a BEAAAAAASTT... if I had to pick one I would still take the M5. Only cause it has 5 PROPER seats.

Every 1 is that thinks the BMW M5 is fast your al wrong. Because. The m5 had tunes cams and so on. The GTR was bone stock. And it was still in the lead for a long time. When the 200hp+ extra m5 was catching up
And if would of been a 0-160mph the gtr would of raped it so hard with it's 5000rpm launch control. Omg. But ya. Very good race.
FYI I own a BMW e30 325xi turbo and a Nissan 2005 350z nizmo small built on's.

2:50-3:22 not really respectable. Anybody with money can acquire themselves one of them. In order to be respected driving and proud of your racing automobile, you must have built it yourself. Otherwise you're just a rich person. I'd respect a guy who hand-built a ricer much more than one of these guys.

To show off a car that you own in terms of its ability doesn't say anything other than that he can buy someone else's creation. If you create it, you can proudly show it off. Not even mentioning "look what I worked my whole life for", this is about "look what my car can do". I will always respect a hard worker.
