  • no wonder i grew up to be such a wierdo watching this creepy shit

  • Being a kid in the 80s was fucking awesome

  • One of my FAVOURITE video clips, certainly one of the most memorable!

  • i love how peter combe and the kids are getting pummelled with newspapers at the end :)

  • I spoke to him on the phone yesterday, his daughter is my boss :D I was stunned out of boredom, he's like "Hi this is Peter Combe is Joni there?" And I'm like "Hi Peter Combe! :D"

  • I served Peter Coombe at my work yesterday. Best moment ever.

  • Memories! Think my olds still have this on tape :)

  • @dosh124 Defamation much?

  • @shibz1989 I think so.

  • @dosh124 How can you say that? Come on now, that's a bit harsh isn't it? How can you call Peter Combe a pedophile? Is it because he's a guy? I'm sorry, but you've got it so wrong here.

  • Do you know how many times I have busted my husband secretly listening to this on Youtube??? What a crack up ... but I DO love it ... :)

  • yay!

  • fuck yeah childhood

  • @Melbourneboi1983 he came to my school & sang :D

  • thanks for putting this up, peter combe is great

  • Saw Peter perform live last night at the Colonial Hotel in Melbourne. Place was absolutely packed and many had to be turned away. Was awesome, and it was the first time I'd seen him perform live since Grade Prep in 1988. The place went off, and I can assure you, the man certainly still has it. I know my kids will be listening to his songs growing up (That's when I have them!!!)

  • I've Met him :D

  • @caitlin061 where did you met him

  • How can he sustain that voice in the beginning? It sounds like he's on helium....

  • 1:02 - "In a voice that's gay" - Thank you for using the original terminology, Peter!

  • Wish I knew who the chilren where

  • We used to have to sing that in primary school for music.. I went to primary school from 2001-2006 :DD

Our teachers had good(ish) choices XD

  • haha used to think this was great when i was a kid

  • i never was into peter combe as a kid... fransiscus henri was my bad

  • back when music was awesome, and clothes were not.

  • Peter rocks! And he's a great person. Met him twice now at adult gigs. Was hilarious watching 20-somethings walking down the Valley mall with toffee apples on their cheeks and newspaper hats haha. And then after the gig, the same pple but drunk and singing the songs out wildly haha

  • I remember when I was in primary school I use to think this song was about my mum because she use to deliver the local newspapers everyday around town. lol

  • he looks like that fitness instructor bloke. what's his name again?

  • I brought the original record of Newspaper Mama off eBay a few months ago...I had it on tape when I was a kid but it was a selection of songs from the album titled Songs from Newspaper Mama...I also used to watch this on my ABC Video Hits video, it was great

  • Books are for chooks got a big laugh! And mostly in this house...

  • Brings back so many memories! Awesome stuff.

  • Unfortunately I wasn't born in time to enjoy the classic kids' music of the late-80s (eg Peter Combe, Don Spencer)...all I had to put up with as a kid was The Wiggles...shame...

  • what was with the making fun of the queen bit i don't remember that at all!!!!!!! hahahaha! love this song though, haven't heard it in 15 years, makes me so happy!

  • He plays gigs of his kids songs for twenty-somethings to relive those exact memories!

Dec 9 at Corner Hotel, if you're in Melbourne :D

  • ive met him twice. In fortidue valley a year ago he was doing a gig for adults, and you saw heaps walking around the city in paper hats hahaha.

then i saw him at a gig mainly for the kids but i dont think they were into it really as much as we did. Adults go NUTS!! Esp with mr clickety cane hahaha

  • lol what the fuck just happened to me

  • Wow, this song could really top the music charts!

  • Oh man I'm sitting here grinning like a moron; makes me wish I was in primary school all over again; except that I'd have to endure high school again...

  • My Children Grew up on PC songs We had the old VHS too. How sad for the children of countries that did not have Peter to listen too.

  • this was my favourite song when i was younger, brings back great memories, and i just saw peter combe on 'spicks and specks' on the ABC and he sang newspaper mama, made my week.

  • I remember that episode too with Celia Pacquola behind him ( whenCelia said that she wanted to be those child backside dancers when Celia was girl)

  • This brings back a lot of memories for me! I am in that clip, I remember that was a very fun 4 days of filming. That is the short version though, cause I remember it used to run for AGES when it played on the ABC.

  • And what do kids grow up on today? Bloody Raggs the dog and Larry the Lawnmower! Bring Peter Combe back and there wouldn't be a war in Iraq :p

  • lol I had this tape given to me and my sisters fromm my cousins who are 10+ years older then me. Love this song

  • Has been doing gigs for adults recently with his old songs and some new ones.

  • Peter Combe was my childhood!

  • LEGEND

  • ABC for Kids from the 80's and 90's is better than most of the stuff on ABCKids now.

  • @Gabbort Right on mate, sadly The Wiggles had already toppled Peter Combe from power as the king(s) of Aussie children's music when I began watching ABC...all I had was Songs from Newspaper Mama on tape.

  • I remember this song when I was 8 n that would be around 1989, haven't heard this song in 20 years!!! Good to see stuff like from my childhood years again :)

  • I remember this when I was young and I sometimes sing it in my head now and then, good memories

  • ROCK ON!

  • Im 21 and remember all his songs! I was NEVER a Wiggles fan. Peter Combe still rocks!

  • No one is catering for the older kids (7 to 12) any more thus they are forced to either watch wiggles on the younger end or Brittney on the older end this is sad.

  • the kids in that video are like 30 now!...i was born in 1985 and remember this clip like it was yesterday...its sad gettin old....lol

  • pretty much!

  • Wow you're only 20 & you remember this? I'm 30 now & i was in grade 2 or 3 when this was around, so i was between 8 & 9 years old, so that means you wouldn't have even been alive yet.

  • yeah my parents had the tapes from my older cousins and played them to me when I was in early primary school, so I appreciated him a bit after he released the songs. He was so rad that more than one generation got to live it!

  • Warms my heart watching this... i was and still am the biggest fan!

  • I Remember Watching This When I Was Like 5 LOLZ

  • before i saw this video i didnt know that this song and video clip is permanently imprinted in my long term memory... beautiful!

  • I saw him at the metro in sydney last year and everyone wore newspaper hats and brought toffee apples. When this song came on everyone formed a mosh pit and went nuts.

He even signed mine my newspaper hat and I still have it. Absolute legend.
