i use a 52 and 60 use them both most of the time! But my wedges have to be the best bit of my game i have a handicap of 2 and i think 52 and 60 is the wedges you need!
I have 51-05, 56-14, and 60-05 in Mizuno mp-t's. Rarely use the 51, rarely use the 60, maybe one or two shots per round with each. 56 for everything else from inside 100 yds UNLESS I'm on hardpan and close, then the 60 comes out with the low bounce. What I could really use is two 55-56 degree clubs, one with 13-14 bounce, and one with 4-5 bounce and just go with situations. Gap wedge is basically an added club since club lofts have decreased over the years to boost egos and sales.
i got the the 48 deg and the 56 deg. CG-15 (2 ball) and they are the best wedges iv ever hit. The 48 CG-15 stops the ball as well or better than my Tom Watson 56 deg!
lob wedges are one of those clubs that are good to put in your bag if you're good with them. for example, i hit a lob wedge WAY better than i hit any other wedges and even short irons like 9 irons, so i use my lob wedge a lot because i have good control with the lob wedge. also, lob wedges are good in situations as if you hit the ball beside a bunker close to the green, a lob wedge is a great club to get the ball up high without the ball necessarily hitting the ball 'far.'
i disagree with lob wedges. they are a waist of a club in the bag. get a 56 with low bounce and open it up for a lob wedge. Also, if u just hit the green with your irons you dont need to use wedges that much... Just what i think about lob wedges...
@ADAIVl Seve would have agreed with you on that. I seem to remember him saying that 60 degree was too much loft for him and he would just open up the face of his 56 if needed.
i have 60 deg lob and a 56 sw i cant hit the lob over 40 yards but great for say pitching over bunkers if you need to stop quick, i prefae the sw for bunkers bit more of a groove at the bottom
i have a callaway forged 56,60 and a 64 wedge to be honest they all are pretty amazing. i agree with you on what you said about the sand wedge.. but with the 60 and 64 i can allmost pinpoint my landing spot on around the green with the higher lofts..
I decided to no longer carry a lob wedge and instead go for a 52 degree gap wedge with my 56 degree sand wedge. I am pretty good around the greens and can manipulate the face pretty well when needed but I still have problems out of the sand with blading the ball. Is this just a bunker problem or do I need a 60 degree?
If you are blading the ball, a different club isn't going to help you much. You just gotta work on your swing. That said a wedge with low bounce (doesn't matter if it's 56 or 60) will help you out a little bit from blading the ball.
its not the rust that adds more spin, its the fact that the chrome finish has worn off and the face becomes softer, chrome is a harder material and thats why a rusty club feels like it spins more
while i my wedges go pitching wedge, 52, 58, and 64

@Thejgt2 Yeah good players can but with lesser golfers that would fuck up your aiming
dougiepoolable 11 months ago
@Thejgt2 umm...the ppl who find it difficult to consistently hit a ball with a manipulated face. Just like he said...

i play cg10 wedges and get the most spin out of a full 52 degree than a 56 or 60

Choice of ball is equally important to loft. Get a good ball and it will check up. A cheap ball will roll out even with a 64 degree wedge imho

i got a 60 callaway x tour. If your wedge rusts you get better backspin.
