Whao, Nice truck. Just got an 08' stx with the 4.6 liter engine. Have you ever towed with it? I would like to know what the smaller v8 is capable of other than what the book says!
thanks man, no I never towed with it. I just use my dads 06', but it has a 5.4 in it. I just took my tow package off cause i got a new roll pan. You should be fine though.
The popping is normal, Its just an afterfire where unburned fuel ignites after the ignition event while the exhaust valve is open. It does it with the factory exhaust but its so restrictive you cant hear it. once warmed up and the ECM goes into "closed Loop" operation the popping goes away.
I posted this a few comments ago as someone asked just "click view all comments"
Well know that I think about it when my Grand Am is very first running in the morning it goes into cold enrichment mode while still in open loop.. And when I rev it up it also has a slight pop too it.. So this may be similar to what im hearing on your vid.. But once it get out of cold enrichment mode after a few minute warm up cycle then it isnt as harsh. And once I hit closed loop I never hear the sound.. My exhaust is just a turbo muffler with a side exit w/o catatylitc con And my car is OBD 1

Well I like the sound of the truck. And I guess what your saying is your truck has a wasted spark ignition.. Or is the mixture just so rich that when its cold or in open loop it just naturally ignites in the exhaust.. Cause I havent heard to many vehicles do this..
its actually very common. in all factory stock exhaust this happens but like i said you can never hear it. the after market mufflers pronounces the sound even more because of the open loop. it can get very confusing lol. thanks for the comment.
Where did you find it for 400 at?

kyleb822 2 years ago

acatrider576 3 years ago
