please no. why do they have to ruin all the good books. its a book not a movie. it was crafted to be read. let the book you keep you up late everynight, knowing on the other side of your bedroom door there is an infinite abyss of black hall way and echoing screams (only to find that behind that door is your dimly lit hallway). so much impact of the book will be lost in the movie. in real image. (like ross817 said, if they did the navidson record, and (here's the tricky part) well, itcould begood
Im reading this book right now. Its intense. But i think they could turn it into a movie. Of course, turning the ENTIRE book into a movie would be impossible, because of all the different layers, not to mention references to things like the Whalestoe letters, which aren't directly in the book. But a recreation of the Navidson Record documentary would be entirely possible, considering it was, after all, a filmed documentary to begin with.
I read it in high school and obsessed with its meaning and hidden messages. Then I read it again in college and returned with my new knowledge and outlook on life to become obsessed again (I have a whole notebook of notes pertaining to it). I am currently reading it again after many, many books, and it is still the best thing I have ever read (and I'm a Vonnegut fanatic). Amazing story that I have yet to completely decipher.
@xxnactise I'm actually afraid to try to summarize the book because it might color your experience of it. Yeah, it's that good. The best I can do is say "read it if you like a good intellectual challenge." Because that's what the book is. An intellectual challenge. Loaded with dissonant ideas that you will try fruitlessly to combine into a sensical plot. Every time you think you understand it, there's another small detail you've forgotten. It almost seems to taunt you as you try to understand.
The only way to adapt HoL into a movie is with two caveats (and this comes from a director):
1. Only do The Navidson Record portion, as alternating between two wildly emotional and stylistic different narratives wouldn't work in a more condensed medium such as film.
2. Work with Danielewski AT ALL TIMES. Holes will need to be filled, and the director needs to work with the author to maintain the mood and artistic merit.
I think that, if executed correctly and with enough artistic vision unhindered by the whole "market for the audience" attitude that Hollywood tends to take toward producing movies, House of Leaves could make for a potentially groundbreaking and amazing film. However, Danielewski would have to have his hands in every aspect of it, because I'm sure that only he would be able to deliver the images and characters out of the pages of the book and onto the screen sucessfully.
However, I do understand the idea that the book should not be tampered with. I fear playing with something that seems so perfect already. I'd hate to be the one who fails.
In addition, and I swear I won't say anymore, everyone's comments are all hypothetical in nature. The idea coming into fruition is strictly up to Mr. Danielewski. How do you all think HE would react to such a proposal?
It CAN be done! I myself am a HUGE House of Leaves fan and have ironically just today read about the idea of putting actual imagery to this. I've been experimenting with on board digital effects/POVs/digital effects (editing) recently for other projects and ironically I think a film with my trippy as hell style could do it justice! But I would STRICTLY state that whatever results are only ONE possible interpretation. :D
This is the only book I've ever read that actually left me feeling creepy. A movie can never come close to the book; the most we could hope for is that a movie might stand on its own as good film making.
Brill. I think this could be handled in movie form, if they just made the movies described in the Navidson Record. Why bother with Johnny's story? He's not really what the book is about he's there to show how the book affects people.
Johnny's journey is extremely important to the story. Or maybe you didn't notice that he displayed most if not all of the symptoms of distress that Navidson himself displays. Ugh.
I think it could. Or maybe..a mini-series or something. I don't know? I'm not really a film maker. Really, the most important story is the love story of Karen and Navidson. The love story showing that nothing really ends happily (or maybe that's the pessimist in me). If it were made into a film it'd be hard to fit Johnny in, I agree. I'd just be really sad about him being left out. Hopefully if it's ever made it'll just be a REALLY long ass movie :D
That's true. Or maybe if they made The Navidson Record as one movie, and then made a sequel showing how it affected Johnny? Either way, you're right, haha!
this book, in my opinion, is absolutely amazing...although the switch between "The Navidson Record" and Johnny Truant's commentary is a little confusing at times..i love this book.
@madhatt3r111 They would have to ask the author's permission anyway, it's not up to you it's up to him. And if the right people are found then it can be done. But you must have already talked to Danielewski yourself right?
@barobertsaef : Absolutely. Mark and I.... we have a good rapport. The whole trip is a mindf*ck; imagery best served cold on the silver screen of your brain.
@ross817 Not that I know of. I was throwing my opinion out there. It sounds like you are passionate about the novel too. I just feel that the abstraction and absurdity pressed between the pages takes full advantage of the pen/paper medium in a magical way that would be difficult, if not impossible, to translate onto screen. Should a movie be made (even just the Navidson Record) I nominate Darren Aronofsky to take a stab at it. And for all I know, Mark D. would be flattered at the attempt.
@madhatt3r111 Oh, okay. I didn't mean to sound confrontational or to suggest that I had a different opinion, by the way. I just wanted to get a bit more information about what you were saying.
I agree that a great deal of the context as well as many of the themes and ideas of the book would be lost if it were made into a movie. Still, if someone were to make a movie based on The Navidson Record, I would see it in a heartbeat.
@ross817 That is the part I want to see too, I want to see the Navidson Record turned into a movie. I think the rest just would not fit well in movie form though good in written form. I want to see this strange realm brought to life, unfortunately my guess it would either come out to dark to see anything or to computerized and fake looking to send chills down my spine. Nothing really compares to one's imagination, a strange part of me would love to explore that house sans the being absorbed.
I love the trailer, but there can't be a movie for house of leaves! Mostly because about well, 200 pages in, reading it becomes an extreamly crazy game. And how will you include the footnotes that tell about Johnny's life? And the letter's from his Mum at the end? and the times where there are pages compleatly blank exept for one word? Half of the books point, I belive, Is that it is art.
True, it would be impossible to reflect the way the words look.
As for the actual story though, it can go like this.
It starts with johnny finding all the papers. It follows him around, switching between him, the navidson record(with zampano narrating), and something like a documentary interview for the footnotes.
Editing it would be a bitch, but it can be done. It would have to be long as hell though.
i haven't read this book yet, but it looks really interesting....but could someone please explain a little about this book? is it supposed to be scary or like a fantasy or what?
i get so confused trying to explain this book... usually i just say that it's about a guy, who finds notes (which he compiles into a book), on a documentary (which doesn't actually exist) about a really fucked up house, written by a blind guy. @_@
iz hard to describe.... normally when i try to say the above, my description just keeps going in circles, until i get so frustrated that i basically just hand them the book and go, "Read It."
I say "Well, It's about a guy, who finds a chest of papers, about a documentary, that doesn't exist, about a house, that's bigger on the inside and getting bigger, and about 200 pages in it turns into word barf"
Its a very intricate and confusing story. The main story is about an ex reporter and his supermodel wife moving into a house that is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside and what happens as they investigate it. This story is surrounded by a second story about a la tattoo artist who discovers this story after a man living in an apartment next to him passes away, he investigates into it and strange and unusually frightening things began happening to him.
First, Will Navidson was not a reporter. He was a photojournalist. Secondly, Johnny Truant was not a tattoo artist. He was an apprentice in a tattoo shop, but never actually did any tattooing. Third, Zampano was not Johnny's next door neighbor. Zampano lived in a completely different apartment building in a completely different part of town.
Anyway, I kind of have an idea(though it may not be correct). I think that his story is a way of justifiying himself for not giving us a "good" ending. It's a way of telling us that this is reality, that there is no answer to your questions. Ambiguities come and go without answer or reason. Things happen that are unrelated to the big picture, things that ultimately don't matter, whimsical things.
Hey! I just finished the book and I have a question.
What was the last story Johnny told about? A more accurate question would be, "Does it have any greater meaning?" You know, the story about Dr. N. (sorry I don't have the book with me right now, I can't remember his name). :(
They could never do a feature length film, it's just too vast, but I think it would be awesome if they came out with like a box set. Theres so many options if you open it up like that. It would have to be multiple DVD's. It would be awesome if they included like "the original" version of Zampano's notes, you could follow along. Maybe have a DVD of just the Navidson Record and another of Johnny Truant. It would take a lot of thought and a lot of effort but I think it would be definitely worth it
a movie adaptation of just the navidson record would be scary enough. a technique like recording a scripted commentary from someone would be cool and kind of mimic the duality the book makes. but overall the book can't be made into a movie.
@zackv1x I agree. Because if the movie focused on Johnny, so much of the book's impact would be lost, as it would be nearly impossible to adequately fit the content of "House of Leavse by Zampano" into the movie if it focused on Johnny. I think it would be awesome, however, if someone made the complete Navidson Record into a film.
Making a House of Leaves movie would be a terrible idea. Without actually reading the book, you would miss out on so much, such as the meaning behind the text layout and the hidden messages in the footnotes, etc. Not to mention that a lot of the story would probably get butchered, and the overall message would be watered down. Think about Watchmen, and how many people probably came out of the theater just saying, "oh dude what an awesome movie" and not realized the themes it also includes.
I don't know about you, but I think most of the themes of that movie were explicitly clear at times.
HoL would be impossible to adapt as a whole, logically more than anything. We don't know which is the true narrative or who is really telling the story (excluding Danielewski, of course). You'd have to isolate one aspect of the book and tell that, and The Navidson Record is the only easily translatable part of the book.
What they need to do is copy the book exactly. They need to have a news clip of Oprah talking about Navidson's book. There are a fair number of celebrities mentioned in the book's more documentary-style portions. If even some of them would sign on to play themselves in the movie, it would do for the movie what the faux-interviews did for the book!
If they made a movie, it should only be of the Navidson Record... the rest of the story would be impossible to even come close to doing justice to.. it's just to much to do with words(?) Don't know if that even makes sense :/ Anyways, Hollywood would probably destroy it :S
If this were made into a movie it would probably go down as a classic. You know? The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Casablanca, The Godfather. It's something people would quote years from now and not really know what the hell it's from.
House of Leaves should totally be made into a movie. Anyone who has read the book and at least some what understands or respects it should be interested in seeing how it could turn out on film. It would be challenging to make, but it has something for everyone: religion. philosophy, psychology, sex, violence, hisory, horror, etc. I'm sure many talented actors would be thrilled to play in it to. Hell, Johnny Depp could be Johnny Truant, B Pitt could be Halloway, E Norton could be Navidson.
@shunkwugga well stated. No need to tamper with it... if it ain't broke, don't fix it :) the book is open to analysis. I think a HoL film would offer a single definitive perception and distract any potential readers from attempting the literary journey through Johnny's\Will's eyes. However... "The Navidson Record" alone would make for some amazing cinema...
@barobertsaef : I agree with the "something for everyone" analysis. I disagree with your lineup of actors. I think the book focuses on 'average' characters (everyday people) that fundamentally relate to the multiple agendas of the reader. If anything, I'd envision a talented new cast in which a no-name actor(ess) can launch a career. If I saw Depp, Pitt and Norton on screen together, it wouldn't be "HoL" to me... it would be a superstar lineup trying to salvage a nearly impossible film.
A movie on this would suck. If they made The Navidson Record, Hollywood would corrupt it and edit the fuck out of it. There wouldn't be much of it left. Even if they stuck as closely as possible, nobody would like it except those who read the book because the quality would be horrible. Not to mention the twenty minutes of black silence. And you couldn't have Johnny's story without showing The Navidson Record to some extent, and then people would ask for the Navidson Record, which wouldn't work.
not necessarily. an independent filmmaker with a great appreciation for the book could easily do an outstanding job on it. and sure there are people out there who would be against and hate it even before it would be released because they think its not filmable. and then there are those who like to make the comparison and like for what it is or hate it for what its not.
If they did make a movie it would be split into several segments, the parts with Johnny would be filmed like a normal (but really scary) movie, but the parts like the 5 and a half-minute hallway would be more like a home video like Cloverfield.
And then it can be pleasantly interspersed by the Reston Interview!
exactly, the book is laid out. no questions asked how it would be filmed. i actually think if someone were to pick this story up it would be a very easily adapted book to script script to film project.
i only JUST heard about this book. I looked it up online and read a little bit about it.i dont fully get the book yet but i'll probably buy it and check it out. For some reason i get the feeling that reading this would be like trying to decipher the lyrics to a Mars Volta song. Loved the underwater jesus by the way, that looked beautiful. I also liked the footage of the little kid at the beginning.
All of these little trailers and stuff are great, but I really wouldn't ever want to see a movie based on House of Leaves. It doesn't work. Even if it was a good movie, it would be nothing like House of Leaves.
true. but that's half of the beauty of the book. and you know that a bunch of people would run out and see the movie without ever reading the book, and then run around talking about how deep and thought provoking house of leaves is with no real concept of what it really was
i think people seeing the book on film might want to make them read it seeing as how the book makes you want to see the Navidson Record. it would be cool if they could intertwine them. There are things in the book that can but shouldnt be put on film such as the whalestoe letters.
Danielewski will never release the rights. for pretty good reason too. It would never mean as much in a film as it does the way it is. though I agree a film based on "the navidson record" would be tight, and probably the only way to adapt any of this book for the screen. It would have to be done right though. Too many people think oh hey lets make a mediocre home movie out of it. no. whoever does make a film of it would need to pay very close attention to the text, while keeping the film's
I have been reading this book for a week or so now and all of my free time has pretty much been occupied by it. I too have felt more afraid of the dark, but it already made me nervous even though I am an adult. Now I am noticing the post-modern aspects and can't help but think about the book's comments on time and space pretty much every day. I haven't been this obsessed with a book in years. Definitely recommended.
Reading the book for about a week straight threw me into a state of paranoia and near schizophrenia. It was around the time that the book starting talking about echoes when I felt a cold tug around my heart, even through all the boring science talk. Around the end of that section, where it talks about his kid going into the hallway and how always is an echo of hallways my heart pretty much plunged into my stomach.
I've been dying to re-read it all in one day, no sleep or anything, but haven't.
I can't sleep anymore. I'm not just making that up, either. I'm up for thirty hours at a time because I don't want to sleep. I can never remember my dreams (and I used to remember all my dreams). I don't think about the book that much, but it's really left a mark on me and I can never push it back out after letting it inside my mind.
I regret reading it, but at the same time, I don't regret it.
your not supposed to read it in one day, thats what makes it so deep, the way it's writen makes you stop and analyze, makes you think, question. Well, that and it's extremely well writen. Once I sat for 40 minutes trying to figure out why a word had an X through it instead of being blacked out like all the others
they should seriously make a movie based on the navidson record. i really wish hollywood would come out with a psychological thriller like this with fresh and original ideas, instead of the seeing the same "The Ring" rip offs every week.
You really can't make a movie out of house of leaves. You could attempt to make the Navidson Record, but not House of Leaves. Damn cool trailer though.
If they did make one it wouldn't capture the full essence of the book and piss people off greatly. I don't think it would be the same without Johnny though.
This was very good. Have you thought of possibly making a longer cut? I especially enjoyed the way you used the same text for Johnny's quotes as in the novel.
Well, I really liked the home movie of the little boy in the beginning, but the typing noise proved to be distracting and I wasn't too fond of the eagle or Deep Sea Jesus. Plus, the ending is a little abrupt.
I believe there are more "homemade" 'House of Leaves' trailers on youtube, perhaps you will enjoy some of them more than mine. Thanks for the critique and feedback!
You've seen what before? It's based on a book, and I made the trailer using stock footage that I purchased years ago. Go ahead and get back to me on this. :)
Oh, sorry I misunderstood you...thought you meant I took the credit for someone else's work. I must say it's flattering that someone would claim it as their own, but it's not that great. Let me know if you find the video/link I'd be curious to see it...again.
I have seen this exact trailer before, you sent it to Dan my sisters fiance. He showed it to me, sorry i just thought someone was trying to rip off your work.
(Since ye haven't been replied to); I thought that was plenty neat too; Turns out it's a statue from Florida. Keys (I think) called "Christ of the Abyss". Y'can find some stuff about it through Google and what have you.

i haven't read this book yet, but it looks really interesting....but could someone please explain a little about this book? is it supposed to be scary or like a fantasy or what?
owlertheprowler 2 years ago
It's about a guy who finds an academic film review in his dead neighbours apartment.
Said review is of a documentary called The Navidson Record.
Said documentary is about a family moving into a house.
Said house is fucking creepy.
This is not for you.
Magnetohydrodynamics 2 years ago 5
i get so confused trying to explain this book... usually i just say that it's about a guy, who finds notes (which he compiles into a book), on a documentary (which doesn't actually exist) about a really fucked up house, written by a blind guy. @_@
iz hard to describe.... normally when i try to say the above, my description just keeps going in circles, until i get so frustrated that i basically just hand them the book and go, "Read It."
PanoplyCabaret 2 years ago
I say "Well, It's about a guy, who finds a chest of papers, about a documentary, that doesn't exist, about a house, that's bigger on the inside and getting bigger, and about 200 pages in it turns into word barf"
Jeshikun 2 years ago
Its a very intricate and confusing story. The main story is about an ex reporter and his supermodel wife moving into a house that is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside and what happens as they investigate it. This story is surrounded by a second story about a la tattoo artist who discovers this story after a man living in an apartment next to him passes away, he investigates into it and strange and unusually frightening things began happening to him.
dudeifailed 2 years ago
alright thanks!
owlertheprowler 2 years ago
First, Will Navidson was not a reporter. He was a photojournalist. Secondly, Johnny Truant was not a tattoo artist. He was an apprentice in a tattoo shop, but never actually did any tattooing. Third, Zampano was not Johnny's next door neighbor. Zampano lived in a completely different apartment building in a completely different part of town.

There is a code in the really long letter from Jhonny Tuant's Mum. First letter of every word.
lolmuffins123 2 years ago
Anyway, I kind of have an idea(though it may not be correct). I think that his story is a way of justifiying himself for not giving us a "good" ending. It's a way of telling us that this is reality, that there is no answer to your questions. Ambiguities come and go without answer or reason. Things happen that are unrelated to the big picture, things that ultimately don't matter, whimsical things.
Siike92 2 years ago
Hey! I just finished the book and I have a question.
What was the last story Johnny told about? A more accurate question would be, "Does it have any greater meaning?" You know, the story about Dr. N. (sorry I don't have the book with me right now, I can't remember his name). :(
continued on next post...

It would take a lot of thought and a lot of effort but I think it would be definitely worth it
cmurray1105 2 years ago 4
a movie adaptation of just the navidson record would be scary enough. a technique like recording a scripted commentary from someone would be cool and kind of mimic the duality the book makes. but overall the book can't be made into a movie.
zackv1x 2 years ago 29
@zackv1x I agree. Because if the movie focused on Johnny, so much of the book's impact would be lost, as it would be nearly impossible to adequately fit the content of "House of Leavse by Zampano" into the movie if it focused on Johnny. I think it would be awesome, however, if someone made the complete Navidson Record into a film.

I would LOVE for house of leaves to be a movie. It's such an amazing book.
XxCloudyxX 2 years ago
what did you use for this? is it just stock footage from the internet?
whatever it is, it's cool. I like the underwater statue.
hawkthewalk 2 years ago
i too think making a movie of the book would be a bad idea. you have to experiance the book.
though i think they should make the navidson record
just as navidson filmed it and zampano watch it
if it did exist?
chrisambridge 2 years ago
excenllent excellent book. very disturbing...
dudeifailed 2 years ago
Making a House of Leaves movie would be a terrible idea. Without actually reading the book, you would miss out on so much, such as the meaning behind the text layout and the hidden messages in the footnotes, etc. Not to mention that a lot of the story would probably get butchered, and the overall message would be watered down. Think about Watchmen, and how many people probably came out of the theater just saying, "oh dude what an awesome movie" and not realized the themes it also includes.
gnomelandsocial 2 years ago 2
I don't know about you, but I think most of the themes of that movie were explicitly clear at times.
HoL would be impossible to adapt as a whole, logically more than anything. We don't know which is the true narrative or who is really telling the story (excluding Danielewski, of course). You'd have to isolate one aspect of the book and tell that, and The Navidson Record is the only easily translatable part of the book.
WarriorAlien 2 years ago
Thank you! I compleatly agree!
lolmuffins123 2 years ago
I think David Lynch, David Cronenberg, or Richard Kelly could direct it. I'd even add Roman Polanski, but who knows if he even could legally.

what about darren aronofsky?

@trvrchz I'm going to have to third this one. If it is put into film, Aronofsky is the man.
madhatt3r111 1 year ago
What they need to do is copy the book exactly. They need to have a news clip of Oprah talking about Navidson's book. There are a fair number of celebrities mentioned in the book's more documentary-style portions. If even some of them would sign on to play themselves in the movie, it would do for the movie what the faux-interviews did for the book!
undeadfilms 2 years ago
If they made a movie, it should only be of the Navidson Record... the rest of the story would be impossible to even come close to doing justice to.. it's just to much to do with words(?) Don't know if that even makes sense :/ Anyways, Hollywood would probably destroy it :S
Bobertha 2 years ago 4
If this were made into a movie it would probably go down as a classic. You know? The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Casablanca, The Godfather. It's something people would quote years from now and not really know what the hell it's from.
letsplayalways 3 years ago
yeah it would.
dudeifailed 2 years ago
House of Leaves should totally be made into a movie. Anyone who has read the book and at least some what understands or respects it should be interested in seeing how it could turn out on film. It would be challenging to make, but it has something for everyone: religion. philosophy, psychology, sex, violence, hisory, horror, etc. I'm sure many talented actors would be thrilled to play in it to. Hell, Johnny Depp could be Johnny Truant, B Pitt could be Halloway, E Norton could be Navidson.
barobertsaef 3 years ago
The book is a film. Danielewski's dad is a filmmaker, and it shows that the book is much as a visual experience as it is a literary one.
shunkwugga 3 years ago
@shunkwugga well stated. No need to tamper with it... if it ain't broke, don't fix it :) the book is open to analysis. I think a HoL film would offer a single definitive perception and distract any potential readers from attempting the literary journey through Johnny's\Will's eyes. However... "The Navidson Record" alone would make for some amazing cinema...
madhatt3r111 1 year ago
@barobertsaef : I agree with the "something for everyone" analysis. I disagree with your lineup of actors. I think the book focuses on 'average' characters (everyday people) that fundamentally relate to the multiple agendas of the reader. If anything, I'd envision a talented new cast in which a no-name actor(ess) can launch a career. If I saw Depp, Pitt and Norton on screen together, it wouldn't be "HoL" to me... it would be a superstar lineup trying to salvage a nearly impossible film.
madhatt3r111 1 year ago
A movie on this would suck. If they made The Navidson Record, Hollywood would corrupt it and edit the fuck out of it. There wouldn't be much of it left. Even if they stuck as closely as possible, nobody would like it except those who read the book because the quality would be horrible. Not to mention the twenty minutes of black silence. And you couldn't have Johnny's story without showing The Navidson Record to some extent, and then people would ask for the Navidson Record, which wouldn't work.
Flig5 3 years ago 4
They said that Naked Lunch was unfilmable, but they still did it...and it turned out well enough.
shunkwugga 3 years ago
not necessarily. an independent filmmaker with a great appreciation for the book could easily do an outstanding job on it. and sure there are people out there who would be against and hate it even before it would be released because they think its not filmable. and then there are those who like to make the comparison and like for what it is or hate it for what its not.
SpugonRock 2 years ago
If they did make a movie it would be split into several segments, the parts with Johnny would be filmed like a normal (but really scary) movie, but the parts like the 5 and a half-minute hallway would be more like a home video like Cloverfield.
And then it can be pleasantly interspersed by the Reston Interview!
Shadgrimgrvy 3 years ago
exactly, the book is laid out. no questions asked how it would be filmed. i actually think if someone were to pick this story up it would be a very easily adapted book to script script to film project.
SpugonRock 2 years ago
How about the parts where its essentialy "word vomit"?
lolmuffins123 2 years ago
Parts like that will ensure David Lynch will direct it.
Shadgrimgrvy 2 years ago
i only JUST heard about this book.
A06 3 years ago
I always imagined that if House of Leaves were ever adapted into a movie, it would only truly work if directed by David Lynch.
Shadowthrone08 3 years ago
All of these little trailers and stuff are great, but I really wouldn't ever want to see a movie based on House of Leaves. It doesn't work. Even if it was a good movie, it would be nothing like House of Leaves.
madmanno01 3 years ago 6
Agreed.
However, as I said in a different video's comment list, a movie of The Navidson Record (without trying to include Zampano or J.T) would work.
LegionAnon 3 years ago
true. but that's half of the beauty of the book. and you know that a bunch of people would run out and see the movie without ever reading the book, and then run around talking about how deep and thought provoking house of leaves is with no real concept of what it really was
violinvixen03 3 years ago
i think people seeing the book on film might want to make them read it seeing as how the book makes you want to see the Navidson Record. it would be cool if they could intertwine them. There are things in the book that can but shouldnt be put on film such as the whalestoe letters.
SpugonRock 2 years ago

XanimauxX 3 years ago
Reading the book for about a week straight threw me into a state of paranoia and near schizophrenia. It was around the time that the book starting talking about echoes when I felt a cold tug around my heart, even through all the boring science talk. Around the end of that section, where it talks about his kid going into the hallway and how always is an echo of hallways my heart pretty much plunged into my stomach.
I've been dying to re-read it all in one day, no sleep or anything, but haven't.
reallyrawrocker 3 years ago
I read it about a week ago.
I regret reading it, but at the same time, I don't regret it.
hahahahva 3 years ago
your not supposed to read it in one day, thats what makes it so deep, the way it's writen makes you stop and analyze, makes you think, question. Well, that and it's extremely well writen. Once I sat for 40 minutes trying to figure out why a word had an X through it instead of being blacked out like all the others

For months after reading this book, I was afraid to go into new buildings, open doors into dark rooms, sometimes even open normal doors.
