People are really butthurt over this. Tapes and vinyl (crappy tapes and crappy vinyl, I mean), and crappy turntables for that matter, are OVER-abundant in thrift stores. Having some destructive fun with them seems perfectly fine. It isn't a fucking PS3 or other modern doodad I will never be rich enough to own*, and making noise by raping tapes/records is insanely fun anyway. Destruction is also an art form! Look at all those 20th century avant-garde composers.
