Also, this version has been edited for the video it seems. If you go to 3:06-3:08 you can hear the cut. There's supposed to be a solo in there, and with that included, the version has just about the same running time as the album version.

A lot of people are asking about this version. I've had it for 7-8 years and was sure it was different but could never find a another source. Doing some sleuthing, I think, THINK, this is the 7 inch single version (def. not the album or ost version, which are the same, or any of the live ones). The single is rare as can be and may have only been released on vinyl (that's all ebay has anyway). So if anyone is a big Shins fan and can confirm this, please do. And if anyone has a HQ mp3 let us know.

The only thing I don't get is the implied plane crash in the beginning of the movie. Did it happen? Did it have some sort of symbolic meaning? What did it mean whatsoever?

@guzotak It didn't actually happen. It was a dream he was having. It was symbolic of the fact that he feels litterally nothing, due mainly to the lithium he is on. Perhaps of the fact that he is so bored and depressed of life that the idea that it was all about to end wasn't all that scary to him, didn't even bother him. He didn't feel scared, he didn't feel angry, he didn't feel anything. I think the film is about the awakaning of feeling, and living rather than just existing.
