  • Since salvation is ALL of God, it is not merely the "initiative" but the "entirety" of salvation that God completed. (Heb 10:14) The truth is that regeneration precedes faith IN TIME (I John 5:1) and imparts eternal life (Eph 2:1). It follows that faith, repentance, obedience, trusting, seeking knocking, etc., take place AFTER eternal life has been imparted in the new birth, and thus played no role in obtaining eternal life. That's salvation by sovereign grace.

  • To depend on the sacrificial death of another human being to gain a second life in a paradise is primitive, barbaric and immoral.

  • 0 dislikes. haha nice :)

  • Well said & absolutely true.

    For His Glory!!!

  • @jaga454 I try to make this clear for you in a few words. It is my priviledge to be of help. If something I have written is unclear, I hope you will feel free to ask me about it. I am very thankful that you have written!

  • @jaga454 (cont.) that sin-covering can't be earned, it can only be received freely. Let me put it this way: I have broken God's laws, my sins have earned me the death penalty. But, instead God put his son to death in my place! (his love shown). I disobeyed, but God's son obeyed perfectly. God then credits or transfers the perfect obedience of his son (Jesus) to me, to my account - IF I wil just believe (called Faith). The name for this is the Gospel, means "good news".

  • @jaga454 My dear friend, I'm thankful you wrote. We humans all try to earn God's favor, by our working for it, or trying to be good. Our failure to obey completely, can cause us much guilt. In love, God sent his only son (Jesus) to earth and for 33 years he obeyed Perfectly (that is, Jesus was sinless, unlike me and all men). At his death, God's son was nailed to a tree (or cross) where his blood was spilled to cover all the sins of me and you. . . . now the amazing part!

  • Of course the Cross is still offensive and scandalous.

    Thank you Duncan.

  • That was a whole lot of extra stuff.

  • A huge amen to that.

  • A succinct and accurate synopsis of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
