@karatecurtis1 osu! Kankudai is different thhen Kushanku. If you are JIKC then if your competition then you don't learn kushanku. Kankudai pattern is different pattern, but just barely, and has just a bit diifferent kicks. Kankudai is Shotokan and kushanku is standard heiwado.
its a bunch of different styles mixed up. their kata and teaching differ from from location to location. even the kata in this video is done a little different than its done in other JIKC dojos
Do you still train and where. I have been training for 24 years now. I started with a different organization, shiti-ryu for my first 5 years along with hakaryu jujitsu, then started training with S. Dale Coker and have been with JIKC now for about 16 years.

This looks more like the Shotokan Kanku-Dai variety kata to me than Kushin Ryu's Kushanku?

we call this kata Kanku-Dai, same basic pattern but we do our techniques a little different!
