How do you get the screen to zoom out. I'm stuck with a 4th of a screen and cant see anything. Is it because I installed yellowdog on 480p?

You can run emulators in Ubuntu.. but my script wasn't written for that. I will only support YDL right now.

alright, im new at this whole ubuntu stuff on a ps3. but the main reason im interested is this. since ubuntu will be an operating system on your ps3 (like a computer), will I be able to install and play pc games? the one im trying to play really is battlefield 2 the PC version on my ps3. Only games that have Linux PowerPC ports might be possible.. or older stuff run under DOSBox/Qemu. Think older 80s and 90s PC games.

This is genius man, pure and simple. I tracked down a PS3 phat spcifically for Linux and more specifically, MAME and other emulators. I can see a lot of people using your setup as the guts of their PS3 MAME arcade cabinet.

Nicely done, can't wait until the release! You really should add a Paypal donations page to your site. You'd be suprised how many grateful people would show their appreciation once this is released and out there.

Who said anything about default settings? It's under System Settings. Can't be done on a PS3 slim.

This looks very awesome! I was considering installing YDL on my PS3 to be able to emulate older games. This application looks like something I'd want to use to emulate them. I'm not a hardcore Unix user, I know the basics of the command-line. Next to Mac OS X, I run Ubuntu 9.04 (Server Edition) for my web applications. Is there a lot of knowledge required to get YDL up and running on a PS3, including your ZeroGame Project?

Some of the emulators like mednafen have online already. Kaillera will never happen as it's Windows only.

will your script install emulators? if so will it include neo geo, turbografx 16, etc? will users be able to save their progress (states), or is that dependent on the emulator itself? will it support 4 players?

It'll be ready when it's ready. Yes, it will install the emulators. Yes, it will support those. Yes, that's dependent upon the emulator. Yes, 4 players will be supported where possible.

I have a beta but I wouldn't recommend it right now. Wait until next week. We've got YDL 6.2 coming with some massive speedups that could make more stuff very playable.

The arcade version of MK1 plays fine. None of the others are fast enough. KI isn't remotely fast enough. I'm not familiar with the MK Trilogy hack... link me and I'll let you know.

You'll be able to play Emerald and Ruby, but not the DS versions. No, this does not void your warrantee whatsoever and is fully supported by Sony.

It'll be publically available whenever it's ready. It may be a while. I'm shooting for about a month from now. Yes, it will be free, but you will have to provide your own ROMs, screenshots and previews.

Yes, DOS games can be run on the PS3 using DOSBOX. I have had it on my PS3 previously. I intend on adding it to my project as well eventually.

Street Fighter 3 runs far too slowly to be playable, unfortunately. All the SF2 games run well. Never tried the rest. Pretty sure that the earlier Samurai Showdown games are fine, but haven't tried most of them. I'll see what I can do.

This sounds fantastic! I've been looking into emulation on the PS3, but I have absolutely NO IDEA what I'm doing when it comes to Linux.

Since you seem to know a lot about Yellow Dog, do you know how well the OS would work on an SDTV? I've heard that it's not even worth it, but I know it's possible.

I wouldn't say that it's not worth it on SD. It depends what you want to do. SD's resolution is really low, so some MAME games won't be displayed properly, but most standard console stuff (NES, SNES, etc...) would be fine.

No, as that would absolutely require graphical acceleration, which we do not have. 3D stuff is out the window... so no PS1, PS2, N64, Saturn and later.

I know that all the SFII series and SF Alpha series plays fine. I don't play KOF, but I would imagine at least some of those will play as well.

It won't "have" them though, as it will not be distributed with any ROMs. That's up to you.
