  • it's not coop, it's co-op ;)

  • NORWAY WTF thats where black metal started i wanted to go to norway but ffuck that shit

  • At uh kid!!!!! You speak words of the lord my friend. Words of the lord.

  • Amen. You speak the truth!

  • I agree with everything you say,Jon.I play violent PC games and it hasnt made me want to go and kill anyone.Besides,if retailers ban them, people are just gonna get them from sites like Pirate Bay instead.

  • I like love violent films and games thats all I like like sr3 gta4 skyrim but am not violent in realaty, maybe I like a good brawl now and again tho.

  • Have you noticed Coop looks similar to co-op like in video games? BAN NORWAY!

  • Did You know? The guys from the columbine shootings used to eat bread! Take bread of the shelves!!! It makes You go Postal!

  • It's the online interactive. Most of the older kids get in a game with someone who's 12 and they cuss and are rippn out farts on each other instead of playing with kids there own age. Stop wanting to be an influence

  • @undertakerrulez321 Holy Crap! Your elipses is wayyyy too long.

  • xDDDDD, I hate lag

  • Yeah I agree I've been playing games my whole life

  • Jon, it's because of the fact that you ARE a mature adult, but nowadays adults are letting their 4 year old kids play these M rated video games with sex, violence, drugs, etc. That doesn't always affect a kid, but it will if they can't discern morality from that.

  • a load o shit both ways

  • I think you used incorrect vocabulary in this video, the word "banned" means they can not be lawfully used, sold, or distributed, Yes, Coop Norway is a large retail chain, what they did was refuse to shelve them, and technically, it isn't a ban, but a refusal to sell. There are several Walmart locations near me, and some of them carry products that others do not, if you ask me, I think the decision on what to sell should be up to the individual location.

  • They removed the games in respect for the victims, not because they were afraid for more terror.

  • jon for president!

  • exactly

  • there is a saying "sometimes one can often meet the outcome on the path they take to avoid it". beware traveling to Norway for a few years

  • what year did you join youtube? your username is just Jon..........

  • @undertakerrulez321 - I joined in April of 2006, and I grabbed this username/channel as my 2nd account in 2010.

  • i find it rather funny that the add b4 the was for a violent video games XD

  • It's like banning art. Violent art doesn't make violent people. Violent music still persists, yet IT isn't banned. GET A BRAIN. THEY ARE VERY NICE.

  • This Guy Is Like A Hero To All Gamers It Doesn't Sense In Banning Violent Games Its Just For Fun And One More Thing Its Doesn't Mean If You Play Violent Video Games You'll Turn Into A Terrorist Or A Killer

  • so are they gonna ban gun clubs in America too... I don't get it

  • Exactly right!!

  • Now try to convince my dad... -_-

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this guys got a good point......he should run for president

  • The problem is, these games also sell to those individuals who are genetically more likely to develop violent habits.

  • Terrorists drink water, BAN WATER!!!

  • Idiot! In norway Coop is a food store! They only sell games at the country side Coop market!

  • People are fools, they don't understand the medium and it's position in society, and they rely on studies that show that violent video games=violent people, even though these studies are outnumbered by the ones that contradict that.

I played Doom and Duke 3D as a kid, I've got nothing but fond memories, I barely remember the game, but I always played it with my brother, and that's something that will stick with me forever.

Not the violence or the guns, it's a misunderstood art medium.

  • Cope Norway is a basterd

  • Why do they ban? I agree hate banners

  • couldnt say it better myself.

  • its the same with guns, games and even toys. whenever there's a tragedy the government assumes it has a legislative mandate. norway would ban guns but they already have draconian gun laws which did nothing to stop a determined psychopath. the next logical evolution is to ban images and depictions of guns if you lean that way. the fact that private industry is beating government to the punch is just PC run amok though and its very sad.

  • the only game that made sense to stop selling and ban was RAPEplay

  • I live in Norway and haven't seen anything in my local Coop shop

  • yea whoever thinks that video games causes violince is just stupid the ONLY time this has actually happened was somw guy got knifed in CS S and planed to kill the guy that knifed him i just think that he was fucked up

  • Why ban World of Warcraft? Is it going to teach kids how to frostbolt their bullies?

  • I personally believe it's how they were brought up. If you grew up in a violent family you'd probably have a better chance of being violent. If anything, bad parenting should be banned. Seriously, I was like, 5 when I played my first Mortal Kombat and you don't see me running around preforming fatalities! This is just stupid.

  • Thank God. This Black Ops has taken my brother away and stolen years away from his life. I say take those games and burn them!

  • @anglekan Years??? Black Ops was only out for 9 or 10 months...

  • Fuck This Shit

  • this is a good first step norway, now ban pac man for childhood obesity

  • @Jon haha I love your videos! Keep it up!

  • Jon i agree with you on all of your views especially the calming effect. When i'm pissed i play Saints Row 2 with the cheats on and i am happy within a couple minutes of me destroying stuff.

  • Video games dont cause violence, lag causes violence.

  • @dxproductions100 Sorry , still thumbs down. Everybody, if you dont like ads before videos, thumb them down instantly.

  • @AIRDAM1 or you download addblock..

  • oh well at least they don't banned g rated games like the mario franchise if that happens imagine the angry mob there.

  • I have heard that studys show that driving video games make people better drivers excluding driver simulation

  • 26 people were asian parents.

  • I was under the impression that they were banned in Norway because the terrorist who attacked the youth camp allegedly used Modern Warfare 2 as a "trainer".

  • I like the way you said "then why do ya keep doin' it" in the beginning

  • The Colombine shootings were caused by being bullied to over the limit, not video games.I don't think after normal people play WoW, they have a sudden urge to cast spells on people that cause horrible death, or after playing GTA, wanting to drive around in a flying tank killing cops with dildos. The only realistic video games really, are ones that involve you playing as a soldier fighting for your countrry. Just wait, after a while, they are going to lose A LOT of customers.

  • its* not it's

  • Well it states "Violent Video Games BANNED".

That is a broad statement suggesting that violent video games are banned everywhere, i.e. everyone who enjoys violent video games are affected. That being said, everyone will click on the video to find out why this has happened.

  • Misleading title to generate views. I wish I could punch you in the face right now.

  • @conchamelon What is it with the title that doesn't say EXACTLY what the video is about?

  • I don't find call of duty good. I like good games. My 4 year old female baby cousin plays call of duty....she is good at it.

  • Comment removed

  • the video games calming you down argument is what ive always said but no non gamers believe me

  • just MALE teenages BS

  • wait WoW was removed? I thought it was about mindless farming of purple items?

  • This is one of those case by case things. for example, i live in Colorado and i remember one time this teenage couple tortured and killed her little brother by performing moves from Mortal Kombat. but its not like everyone is doing it. i see why coop Norway took the items off their shelves, but instead of the violence aspect, it should be more about creating a more family friendly environment. so in this case, video games are the victim, not the colpret. and vary seldom is it the opposite.

  • Why do people want to pussify the world? In a few generations everyone will be that nerd who got beat up in school.

  • Comment removed

  • jon, this is so true. there are no connections between violent video games and im sick of hearing people say that

  • you think your stuff. me as Norwegian take this hard. i did remove my cod mw2 vid just because of this. i live in oslo i was planning to go to utøya but instead to another island. the attack was on my birthday so i'll rember it forever. it's a good thing coop does.

  • Laws should protect you from yourself and others from you, they should not ban everything they think isn't fun. I mean smoking, drugs and alcohol (if drunk to much) are bad for you, video games aren't.

  • it depends on the kind of violence the game has, for example there is this one game put up by the Skin heads where you play as a Klansmen or a skin head and you go around killing black people, games that incite hate crimes should be banned

  • you SUCK idiot :(

  • @transmission0488 Why does he "SUCK"?

  • Ads before vids. Instant thumbs down.

  • Go Granite State! woo!

  • I like your New Hampshire shirt.

  • This video made me kill a puppy. I didn't even want to. :'-(

  • @theCHA70 What can I say? Jon is a bad, bad man. D=

  • This guy is absolutely right in all he said.

  • I started playing Turok when I was 8.

  • ok so im 11 but i dont get mad when i get killed and i agree with you Jon why would they do that, what if a 20 year old man wants to get a copy of Call Of Duty?

  • alright. What they need to do is look at the numbers. Millions of people play Call of duty, Halo, Battlefield, and allof those other violent video games. Now, out of those Millions of players, how many actually go out and...do something violent?

  • GUYS while we are at it, we could ban religion & movies and burn books too! Why couldn't we just nuke the world, and end all this crap?

  • it kind of reminds me of how america bans some things because it might of been offensive to 911

  • Banning video games makes a lot of people aggressive...

  • I would hate to be in Norway.

  • What the hell good does this do anyway, with things like steam and eBay, Coop is just throwing money away. Wether you go torrent eBay or gamestop people WILL get there games

  • While it's true that correlation doesn't mean causation in the video game/violence studies, I do think there's something to be said about such graphic depictions in games being easily available.. For the people predisposed to becoming psychopaths, I'm sure that things in Grand Theft Auto only put ideas in their heads. I'm fine with war games. War is real. But I think a lot of today's shoot-'em-up games are pretty pointless. The violence is pointlessly graphic, and the games exploit females.

  • this is why i watch this show, jon gives his honest opinion on everything, he doesn't change it so other people would agree, jon is an amazing YouTube star, and i lke to hear his opinions, never stop it Jon!

  • They keep doing it so people are conned on that something is being done about crime

  • jon there is lots of people in the world that start playing video games like killing bad games like manhunt and then they start loveing the game more and more and think what if i could do that and it happens ......... but only people that have some thing wrong with them like no social life but people like u and well mabe jory can see that that is not right

  • I did a research paper on this issue and I had the same exact view! It makes absolutely no sense to ban violent video games, the crazy people are already crazy. Too bad the people in charge don't seem to understand that.

  • 23 old people.. aah sod it, you know the deal. Also, if it's just one chain banning them it's just ruining their own business. I predict that online sales / downloads will spike and people will still get their games. And I agree on games having an opposite effect of what most people in politics think. I'm quite sure their are even studies to back it up. Also... why does NO-ONE mention the abundance of violent movies / tv series? The world needs a scapegoat it seems.

  • stupid Norwegian coop people

  • The problem is, people are not violent because they see that on videogames. Videogames are violent because people is violent, no one would buy them otherwise (Not to say that all the people that play GTA are mass murderers)

If you are not into that sort of thing, chances are you will not play that kind of games anyway.

There is this really good video that makes fun of censorship; "The kid that smelt funny" by "fat pie" (aka David Firth). Highly recommended.

  • Terrorists and murderers breathe air. Ban respiration, it's dangerous, plus it's killing all of us slowly(while necessary for life, how ironic).

  • This is not going to change a single thing

  • This sound alot like what Arnold is trying to do. I'm just surprised in the government for this. They may change the legal drinking age from 21 to 18, but they're banning violent video games? I always thought that they were out for the money instead of our well-being. I'm calling shenanigans...

  • WoW related terrorism could never happen. The players of that game never go outside long enough to be able to do something so horrific. If they wanna decrease terrorism they should make playing WoW mandatory.

  • @streetmystic Omgomgomg! YOur a comedian

  • if you ban violent video games even mario should be ban

  • World of Warcraft. Yes, I think that's a VERY violent video game, what encourages people to raid a store with staves and magic! Now, where's our tank so we can start doing magical terrorist attacks!

  • Terrorists drink water! Ban Water!!!

  • just wait until the violent gaming generation grow...

  • @lordanikan3 I already did...Yeah I am not a psychopath I like girls and working out. No we did grow up...

  • World of Warcraft banned. I'm glad you said that, i was wandering why the amount of mage related deaths had gone down recently,

  • I pirate all my games anyways....Poor Norway though srsly they, or any country, do not deserve this. <3

  • Terrorists breathe air! BAN AIR!

  • Totally agree. There are very minute similarities between violent video games and actually violence its self taking place. You couldn't have said it any better.

  • In a related story, the US supreme court recently ruled that video games do have 1st amendment rights in the US, causing the appeal of a Californian video game ban.

  • Awesome new Jogwheel logo!

  • @willpwn4cash That is why I said "practicing Christians" Killing someone violates 1 of the 10 commandments.

  • On April 26, 2002 at the Gutenberg-Gymnasium in Erfurt, Germany there was a shooting. He liked to play violent video games. Ever school shooting in Germany since then, it has been found that the shooters played violent video games.

Having said that, the media attention has also a lot to do with their actions. In Germany 1 to 3 yrs. after Columbine German police found students who wanted "the glory" (or something similar) connected with the media coverage.

  • It's just sad that the authorities want so DESPERATELY to look like they are doing SOMETHING about terrorism and violence that they just don't care if aim of their actions has actually anything to do with the real cause of such tragic events.

Now we just wait till England does something like that -.-

  • Even if there was an attack in your country a month earlier, I HIGHLY doubt it was a bunch of mages and pallidens that did it....not sure how world of warcraft could possibley have caused that...

  • To me I don't see a big diff between violent games and violent movies. To me, I wonder what could be next? Love your show Jon!

  • Its not Video Games its More likley something u believe in like christianity... Who haven't played a video game. NOt many but we aren't mass murderers. So stop this bullshit about violent video games are the cause

  • I have a feeling all these crazy people wore pants when they were being violent. we should get those evil pants banned.

  • Nobody rarely uses the ratings!!

  • The ratings boards for games are screwed because 8 and 9 year olds play GTA IV and COD!

  • There is no Arcade Mode in COD 4 in the German version!!!

  • Hmm this didn't show up in my sub box until just now... or I'm retarded and missed it. Anyway another good video Jon. If you'd like a quick interesting read on the subject check out Child's Play (charity) on Wikipedia made by the penny-arcade guys and take the time to read both the articles that started it by Bill France (currently cititions 3 and 4 on the wiki page)

  • Terrorists breathe air! Ban air!

    ...Wait...

  • i dont get it if i get made at some one on xbox i just t bag them and say how do u like it now!

  • isnt it co-op

  • talk about Operation Facebook

  • The killers was christian. Ban christianity!

  • You know what i agree with you jon but i believe that you have to show an ID to get rated M games

  • There is a ton of psych research that clearly shows there is no causal link between violence in video games and violent behavior in humans. It's a shame politicians, businesspeople, old people, and so forth cannot turn to credible evidence to back up their decisions, stop using media products as scapegoats, and solve the myriad of actual problems that contribute to the issue.

But that, of course, would be sensible. Can't have that.

  • Anders told his friends that he played WoW and CoD so that they would leave him alone, I believe, he wasn't actually playing them.

  • I know the reason WHY people ban violent video games. One time, in the U.S, after GTA IV was released, two teenagers went on a crime spree, full of shooting, rape, drugs, and theft. When they were arrested, they blamed video games, to get off the hook. It worked. Other teenagers have used this excuse to get off the hook, and now politicians (And apperently grocery stores) are trying to ban violent video games.

  • @DarthOptimus207 Link or it didn't happen.

  • Comment removed

  • @DreadfulControversy agree but why do you say "actual" its like your saying portal 1 and 2 aren't "actual" video games just because you have to think same as parts of the Zelda series if your saying they aren't "actual" video games then maybe I don't like "actual" video games as much as the uh.. non-actual ones.. don't get me wrong though I do love to play some COD every now and then

  • @daviddwk I meant to say "actual" violent game. My bad.

  • @DreadfulControversy fair enough and no harsh feelings :P

  • I agree Violent video games do not me people violent they are already violent

  • Comment removed

  • They've banned World Of Warcraft?! ...why?

  • Terrorists eat bread! Ban bread!!!

  • @Zwerggoldhamster criminals wear clothes and eat food and drink water! LET'S BAN ALL THAT EVIL SHIT!

  • @JohnGreene444 LOL... But, what about the children?

  • @OKISIROKI There are children criminals. and adult criminals.... BAN HUMAN LIFE ON EARTH

  • Comment removed

  • @Zwerggoldhamster Terrists also breathe. So... BAN BREATHING!!!!

  • @Zwerggoldhamster I eat bread... does that make me a terrorist?

  • @ThatKidKnows Yes, now go to jail.

  • @ThatKidKnows you tell him.

  • "and Old People" Best line in the argument, haha, but I agree with you Jon.

  • I agree completely. If anything needs to be done we shoud make videogames more graphic and more violent so that when an angry husband wants to strangle his girlfriend he can go do that in virtual reality to get it out of his system. It scientifically lowers crime commited by sain, normal people.

  • this is actually a very stupid decision, people may overreact and cause riots, and there will definitely be more illegal activity to get these games into the country and make money. im sorry but some decisions are soooo stupid.

  • Norway and Sweden are going to sh*t.

  • @Jenga18260 sure norway is but why sweden?

  • I think the effects of video games are different from person to person. i have friends who play non stop and are extremly peaceful, other friends who go completely aggro, its like marijuana; Completely different effects on different people with greatly differring variables. The easiest solution would be of course to get rid of violent games overall, however its not the smartest or most profitable

  • So in order to stop another more terrorism and executions, they pull some of the most fun and sucessful video games in the world? Wouldn't that just piss more people off? I will never understand other countries.

  • The most of the shooters have been men, if not all. Lets ban men! There must be a link!

  • you got it right on Jon, Norway needs to see this vid

  • The reason why they banned those games was because the terrorist who killed 60+ teenagers and blew up our government building played most of those games...Well..It still doesn't make any sense but that's what made them come to that decision..And btw Jon I really think you should talk about what's happened in Norway (Pardon my english I'm norwegian :P)

  • one word: Internet

  • Crap, I meant to write "Threw", not "through".

  • I've been playing Postal 2 since I was 11 and I never through a punch in my life. Problem, politicianfags?

  • @crowbarftw that isn't saying much, as Portal 2 has only been out for a couple months.

  • NH t shirt ftw!!!

  • HEY! I am just 10 and play GTA , Call of duty and counter strike

    What is wrong with that?

    I never get influenced.

  • @Brain245able You have a youtube account, don't you need to be at least 13 for those?
