@geepgeep567 SF2 was one of the VERY FIRST fighters ever made. Bison, Balrog, Vega and Sagat were apart of the Four Devas, the main villains. Having them as playable characters was probably considered unreasonable due to them being your main enemies.

They probably changed it in Alpha/Zero due to the soaring uproar of fighters released, Capcom wanted to stay ahead of the game.

Since the old names applied well to the characters by just switching them around, they didn't need to invent new ones.
