@vulkanizer m8 its a dobro it will gets dents but it doesntt affect the sound and this guy is vey talented so he must have played a longtime and be very expierienced
@paulpenny6 I know it doesn't affect the sound but you know when you see a new national with your very own eyes you are sad even when you see fingerprints on it.
I have had the opportunity to learn guitar from Bob. A real nice guy. He works very hard to make this look so effortless. Desire! He is all about rhythm and tone. Clean and tight. Everytime I watch this clip (many times) I feel it like an injection into my soul. Got to work on my drumming. Happy Holidays. Enjoy.
I worked with Bob on a few occasions when he played at The Wynd Theatre in Melrose, Scotland, and, let me tell you, the man is a true gent !!! Bloody brilliant musician ... there is nothing about music theory that he DOESN'T know, but more than that he is a thoroughly decent bloke ! Keep on making music, Bob, that's what I say !!!
The Unvarnished Music Festival whole heartedly endorsed this musical savant (Okay, he wouldn't want me to say that!) We've enjoyed his music a few years running.. his refrains can still be heard echoing in the bays and bayou's of Lake Okabena. Bob, safe journey...carry on!
of course they are, i don' t think he meant to be condescending, I think he meant he is already getting music without using any guitar string notes....
you're probably right puppyuncle. Bob's really talented everyone can see that, but he's got nothing on, Rory Gallagher. If I had a choice to see Bob or Rory (when he was alive, God bless him) on a resonator guitar, I'd pick Rory everytime. I get the impression Bob has a really big ego, Rory on the other hand was a very humble man with more natural talent than any other blues guitarist in history. Rory was the best. Easily.
fair point, uncle. fair point. Not forgetting John Campbell and Rainer Ptacek as two fantastic guitarists. But I agree, it's not sport, and all three are very very good. I just prefer Gallagher, Campbell and Ptacek to the music of Brozman.
i can see where you're coming from, but i don't think it's a fair way to look at it really, rory sticks to blues music and nothing else, where bob plays a lot of different genres, and really pushes what you can do with a resonator, and he's not an arrogant guy, he's really down to earth. i emailed his site a while back about the guitars he plays and he replied personally to me, gave as much advice as i asked for
Bob Brozman a big ego? Well, he should have one, but he doesn't. He's an incredibly intelligent, positive (compare that to Rory, RIP), and friendly guy having fun doin' what he does best. Which is a lot of things, actually, but most of all he plays the guitar straight from the heart.
Brozman is a science type of gye on the open tunned resonator, check out my resonator video, brozman has been my #1 influence as far as avant garde resonator stuff
There are 10 new Brozman videos posted this week, by VariationsMusic. Search Brozman Toulouse 2007 to find them. This one is OK, but it is 5 or 6 years old....
almost, it's B, not C, i gave this a try too and i think the tuning is more likely to be B,F#,B,E,G#,C# - it makes the hammer on after striking the guitar a lot simpler
I don't think anybody with the slighest bit of appreciation for any sort of music could possibly slate this guy. Maybe he ain't your favourite, but he is very very good at what he does. Somebody asked what tuning..? My guess is Open G, because that seems to be his favourite... Good stuff!
it's facing the soundhole, it's just coincidental that the soundholes on a national are right up next to the fretboard. if they were at the back end of the instrument then the mic would be there
