@MarzX1802 The manga is a four panel strip, like you would find in a newspaper. So the jokes are done in a very short space. The author has a great sense of timing, and can covey emotions really well in a small space, so the manga is really impressive. The anime just does the same jokes, but because each joke has to be a few minutes it doesn't work as well. The dub is bad because it doesn't convey culturally what's going on, and because the voices don't really fit the characters that well.

Sakaki completely and utterly OWNING the rest of the students in the race, despite them having a headstart, after Chiyo-chan was mocked HAS to be one of the Crowning Moments of Awesome in the show, especially since she did it with a great deal of dignity. I love Sakaki's character. She's so sweet and kind.

But my favorite bits with her are her moments with Maya. Sakaki deserved having a kitten who loves her. :)

In Japanese, we use "-san" in a wide range.

one is called "**-san" when we feel him or her unfamiliar, like "sakaki-san"

also,it's a formal and respectful type of referring to somebody, after "-sama"

I think it's not weird if "sakaki-san" was used in a respectful way, and translated into "miss sakaki"
