@TheMiloszdevil On the guitar I think of it as scale shapes and patterns. Minor pentatonic scales and natural minor (aeolian mode) scales that are played in the right key to the metal riff work best. Also arpeggio shapes that are in the same keys as the riff or chords work great for metal. So I know what key I'm in and I know the shapes of the scales and arpeggios but I don't necessarily think of what each note is, but I know it works because of the scale shapes if that makes any sense?
@bernpaul92 it's based on you. if you play guitar every day every night you'll build your callouses and make a finger stretching, like this, you must stretch them away from each other as far as you could, do that for 1 min each hand. sorry for my english :D
this is the best lesson ever, those other guys out there, either the camara is to far from the guitar neck or the play it to fast,it seems that they dont want u to learn,
1:03 "laws are based on data, the hope that this is a fifty-year welfare activities during going twelve." started to sound like a barak obama speech lol
you're moving too much with your fingers and your pointer finger should lay on the e-string in order to muffle it, this way you save so much -otherwise wasted- energy and time which will lead to inaccurate playing like you do, sir.
@MomentsInGaming Actually ,you should move your pointer finger when you play licks like this. If you do not, your pointer finger will become very undeveloped, 'sir'.
@xKtulu Undeveloped? Sorry but this is the usual way to play licks by muting the other string with your pointer finger, which should be pushing down the actual string while just touching the other one in order to mute it. talkin about undeveloped, dunno if this was just a misunderstanding or a real question of yours.. i hope its the first, for you are a fool if it wasnt.
@CreativeMast3rmind i can tell you think you know everything about being creative and guitar. I recommend delving deeply into the title of the video and realizing hes showing us a quick little solo in a pentatonic scale.
hey thank you for the video .. it really help with some riff .!!!!. what help me the most is the last note ( 6th) of the pattern when you come back on the string with an upstroke to pick it.. once i had that "upstroke back to the string" after 10 minute .. i realize i could play some pretty fast riff accuratly everywhere on the fretboard with less effort . before my pentatonic sound messy and inacurate ... now it sound good .
dunno if it make sense but it does for me thank you
I am always interested, though, in the 'talking with numbers' that happens in videos like this. I'm self taught, and I learned a lot of songs through tabs, but I never really got to learn a lot about music itself with 'fret numbers'.
Learning shapes that way is always good, of course! I just imagined hearing more about which notes are what and why somewhere in all these videos- That is perhaps a lesson for another day, though! Cheers. :)
do you need to go back to the root in a pentatonic u started at c# at the 14 fret but the key is F# I'm confused can you explain and isn't a pentatonic 5 notes instead of 4?
im having so much fucking trouble picking up and down. besides that its easy, if i try to alternate pick these notes hes showing, it comes off off sloppy and u not good.

same dude, well ive been playing for about 9 months but i cant alternate pick slow to save my life. instead i try ti pick fast which i can and get try to move my hand fast on the strings/frets and its a fail cause im hitting the notes more than i should be since my right hand which is picking back and forth is faster than my left hand which is moving my fingers on the frets that need to be played
@Novalogicss if alternate picking is giving you trouble, start really simple. try playing mary had a little lamb while alternate picking. start real slow and speed it up, keeping good rhythm with your right hand. Alternate picking is something you really want to master if you want to be good.
