The thing is, you can NEVER size up to what the game of Max Payne was, ever. You might get close, but even then there will be a decent amount of haters. Doing this movie was a bad idea in general.
Aside from that, I think people wanted a solid and dark story with badass shootouts and slow motion scenes, not some almost sci-fi turnover with the fucking angels, seriously.

"fucking angels" are a part of Norse mythology reference and after all they're just a hallucination caused by the drug. Why the weird tape the protagosnist has to tiptoe in the game is ok but the valkiries are a problem ?
If I were the director of how the movie would go as the game I would do the exact same thing as the game except I would make the action parts in the movie a little more intense but too bad I cant do that tho

Mark Wahlberg may be a good actor but he didn't get Max Paynes personality down at all. MP has a bit of a darkened 40s Noir Detective Persona about him as where in this movie he was just depressed.
The movie had potential but failed atleast the games are still good.
The movie did nail one thing: cinematography. It looks and feels like the universe of Max Payne and if you watch it in HD, the atmosphere and contrasts look stunning. But its such a mediocre movie that has potential but never uses it. Crappy action scenes too.
The only good thing about this movie was Mila Kunis' acting. She basically carried Mark throughout the entire thing. Given how tortured and complex Max Payne is as a character, he really acted 1-dimensional throughout most of it but there were a few good moments in his acting. But he's not to blame for fucking this is up it's just the story for the movie was abysmal with those stupid demons. If they'd run through it with Remedy or Rockstar and made a collaboration it would have been 10x better
Anyone that has played Max Payne, should KNOW they didn't have to fuck up the storyline and totally rape it by re-writing it. It already had a good storyline! Typical Hollywood that can't make movies of games or books without raping it much like they did Super Mario Bros and the terrible movies of All The Kings Men.

The movie did nail one thing: cinematography. It looks and feels like the universe of Max Payne and if you watch it in HD, the atmosphere and contrasts look stunning. But its such a mediocre movie that has potential but never uses it. Crappy action scenes too.

The only good thing about this movie was Mila Kunis' acting. She basically carried Mark throughout the entire thing. Given how tortured and complex Max Payne is as a character, he really acted 1-dimensional throughout most of it but there were a few good moments in his acting. But he's not to blame for fucking this is up it's just the story for the movie was abysmal with those stupid demons. If they'd run through it with Remedy or Rockstar and made a collaboration it would have been 10x better

Anyone that has played Max Payne, should KNOW they didn't have to fuck up the storyline and totally rape it by re-writing it. It already had a good storyline! Typical Hollywood that can't make movies of games or books without raping it much like they did Super Mario Bros and the terrible movies of All The Kings Men.

@LivinWorstNightmare kinda hard do a realistic film when you have to shoot at least 8 bad guys in each room you enter :p if u like that kind of stuff u should see rambo or something instead... the atmosphere was pretty good without totally destroying it with 1hour of JUST shooting scenes >.< i know they skip the last part and some in between, but like i said. its just the shooting scenes they cut out. u need to have a flow or els all movies from other sources would be 5 to 7 hours each...

For the people saying look at all the other video game movies, you must have not seen Silent Hill's movie yet. That movie stuck with the script of the game pretty damn well. Best movie to ever stick with the gameplay. The only major flaw of it was that the main character of the movie should have been a guy, not a woman. Than the movie would have been pretty much on track. As every TRUE gamer knows, the worst to stick with the games were the Resident Evil movies.
