***not to say that Theory or Mixing is easy, but Im studying theory now on my own off a book and its seems easier to grasp compared to the depth behind mastering sound.**
LoL at the dumbfuck who saidhe got bored 2 minutes in.
Really? Then stop trying to make music punkass brat. This is a grey vid. Basics of metering and giving a track some more full sound. Im def going to pay up for classes on mastering though. Its just not something that you can pick up as easily as say theory or mixing.
sigh, nfx is doing a great job at these vids, for all the people who do not know, mastering first of all is separate from mixing. Mastering is a fairly long process and is done best by the professionals who have had years of practice in sound engineering and that is why so much money goes into it. For example a typical mastering session goes from between 8 - 12 hours and it costs about $2 an hour. Do the math that is why it costs so much and that is why you hear little people with that clarity.
The guy who makes all the warbeats tutorials is a fucking badass and good samaritan at the same time, so all yous who talk shit shud fuck up and go buy a 30-year old drum machine. thanx dude!
@maztakeef420 I was talking to a producer who makes money doing it and told me his track was !! Get ready for this guys !! here it comes !! wait for it .... wait for it ................. Pay to get your music mixed and mastered professionally !! if you want radio quality music its going to cost you money since some in the music industry are good at mixing and some mastering and some do song writing ! some make loops !! Its an industry and you can't do it all .... :) case closed ....

can i like set the audio to Linear make a song with zero cpu problems and then when its odne set it to highest and render it and then its HQ.. is that possible?
@MUNEY23JORDAN this just happens to be the most thorough "quick" mastering technique that i've ever seen...people serious about their craft watch 25-45 minute tutorials........sMhAgAin
Can't you just use the Fruity Decibel Meter and set each of your instruments and analyze your your final mix to peak at zero or less? Then even use the Fruity Limiter or Multiband Compressor to increase audible sound. Do you really need an external program is what I'm implying.
hi NFX, i am a Biginner Producer from Portugal, and i have been watching your tutorials about 4 years, everthing i know about beat making is because of you, thanx alot.i want to ask you if you can do a tutorial about Vocal Mastering & Mixing on cool edit pro 2.1?...keep doeing those tutorial.thanx 4 everthing.
hey when i play song on the mixer sum of the channels will lower or go higher by itself is there a way of takin that out cuz i wud set a certain level and wen i play it it wud go higher on itself and i see the knob goin up how can i take it out?
what kind of program are you using after you leave from the fl studio on the video i mean whats the name of the program you are turning every thing up with?
Thanks for making clear sense, so many of these tutorial rush through the mix, not showing where and what to click on clearly. This vid has already helped me with my exam production, and im not even mixing down yet.
Does my sound card affects the sound quality of the final rendering?
I have a Sound Blaster card. My music sounds loud and good on FL, but when I render it as WAV or MP3 it sounds very low, even after it's been mastered in Audition.
By the way, thanks for all these GREAT tutorials! : ]
very nice tut man... i will probably starting doing this in pro tools. n i usually just render my wav to mp3 in itunes idk if thats good quality or not
In music industry terms, this video is already ancient. The newest version of Audition doesn't even have an Analyze in the toolbar. SO here is what I did.
I downloaded Audacity for free instead (open source) and I used that. It has many similar features to the old Audition used in this video.
IN FACT if u use the amplify effect it WILL NOT let you clip, thus there is no need to analyze at all because Audacity does it for you.
The idea is to make your song as loud as possible without clipping.
Audition 3,, Analyze.. look at the bar at the top, "window" Amplitude-statistic, or something like this.. got it in german, haven't got the english version here.. sry, but I hope i've helped you
That's exactly what I wanted to hear, I'm using audacity also, but it didn't have this analyze stuf and peak amplitude. I thought you had to do it this way, but as you write, audacity does it for you...nice, know i just need to figure out the difference between amplifying and normalize
Amplify makes the waveforms louder ( bigger peaks in the amplitude ) and normalize will level those peaks out to an average of the same level. This can make quieter parts louder but can do so by sacrificing the sound quality of the louder parts. It's really not something you want too often unless the situation calls for it. The idea of mastering is to fill up the waveform with as much amplitude as it can stand without busting out your headroom and losing volume within the same band
Ok. I have used normalizing since I read this, and I also tried amplify, I didn't hear a difference much though, or maybe it was that I thought that the music sound a little better, because evening out the instruments volume is important so you don't have anyone but the one you want to stand out.
There is usulally plenty of room to amplify when im done mixing, so I render a wave file and use audacity to normalize. I alos tried compressing but that would give burst of volume change..
...when going from a break melody to having all instruments playing.
It seems that alot uses kompression or normalizing, so Im confused a little as to what to choose, but I gues I'll just try it out to see what the difference is.
I would like to hear what your comments is on this?
i somehow manage to master my track with multiband compressor and simple compressor both turned on, when i open it in audition the sound matches those lines almost perfectly without doing anything
take out my explanation for everything and I can do it in under 18 minutes! J/K actually my mastering has changed since I recorded this many years ago. This is still s good way of doing it though.
Anything exported from FL that was made with a generator/VST, is not likely to have noise, unless the renderer added it. Audio recordings with a microphone are the most susceptible to noise. See my "preparing an acapella" video for one way of dealing with noise in a recording.
HI man, sorry 4 my english if i'll do some mess..i use fruity since 5y,i learned by myself to use it and i really like your helps.but i have a serious problem, the track that i export with fl sound SOO different from when i listening it into the software,it was like it lost amplitude of all instrument bass,cords..now i saw this video, and i'm asking you,it resolve my problem?if not, what's the problem?also, name of 2nd software in the video?i have wavelab(similar??).i hope you can help me.thanks
right click the mixer channel and select rename or select the channel and hit F2 then click the square box to the right and a color selection should come up
i use these for everything i do. cant thank this man enough. bless u cracker.
