I bought a load of emit CDs in the 90s in a hippy shop on the Kings Road purely for their covers. I'm so glad I did.The woob CDs are the Sgt Pepper/Dark Side of the Moon of ambient. Only Orb's first CD comes close. Paul Frankland made two other CDs as Journeyman - National Hijinx, and an EP called Mama 6. NH is a more intense record. Mama 6 is closer to Woob. Latneiro is utterly heavely. You can't underestimate how good these albums are. Where is he now...?
I don't know where Paul Frankland is now, but oh my god yes this is (and maybe it's a bad comparison) THE 'White Album' of ambient. Brilliant. Gorgeous. Jaw-dropping.
I was art director at SPIN '94 -'97 and reviewed 1194 in an issue some time back then. I was so smitten with Paul Frankland's dreamy, sampled soundscapes. There are a couple of great, subtle remixes from 1194 (Odonna and Pluto*) on a 2 CD set called "Plug In & Turn On x.2" if you can find it.
back in summer of 1995, i was a 19yo raver, then i found a records store who was near to close for bankruptcy, and there were a big bunch of "ambient" music records... em;t, instinct and rising high... even from Fax... now those are in a very special place on my cd-library... I'll upload them ASAP! ..thanks for sharing!
Alex ... you know there's only one way we're going to end all of this ... we've got to get back in there ... and find Carlotta ... because she's the one who's keeping the spirit alive.
No, the spoken words are taken from "The Night Of Dark Shadows" a horror movie made in 1971, It was a movie based off the old, cheesy, low-budget horror series called Dark Shadows.
The scary dialogue is. The lines about "Alex...you know there's only one way we're going to end all of this...[etc.]" is taken from an old Star Trek episode. Also, there are lines from Quantum Leap in "On Earth".
it's worth the cash...I first heard this in 94 from a local radio station on recorded it from the station on tape then a decade later found CD on eBay. was schoked at price but dished it out and stored on computer ever since. you could then sell the CD back if you wanted but I keept it.
what do you mean ? i got 4 of these cd but not this one ..... so they worth $ 2000.........?EM:T explorer , ambient sistem II,FACIL-ambient and CONTROL X ... to abort the transmission

sonikwaves 2 years ago
They're talking about the EM:T records not Instinct Ambient's.
Facil - Facil and Control X - To abort the mission are respectively the #4 and #9 (out of 10) in the Instinct Ambient 1995 series.
Ambient Systems 2 is an Instinct Ambient record as well.
EM:T and Instinct Ambient were not related at all.
