When I was a small boy I used to watch all the great Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon and other movies from the 40's and 50's and dream of space flight. Then Star Trek came around when I was 13. Fantastic! I also was a huge fan of the space program and watched every single blast off. They used to bring the TVs into our classrooms to watch them. I watched the first Moon landing live. It was one of the most exciting moments in my life.

Ion thrusters have very weak thrust but last a very long time. They are only good for long-duration missions were time isn't a priority. (So that makes them a no-no for manned space travel).

NASA knows even if it produced clear photos of Apollo the nutters would just dismiss them as faked.

You don't understand anything about electric propulsion. Its basis is low thrust, high specific impulse propulsion and there is absolutely no way an ion thruster could generate enough thrust to lift a spacecraft into orbit. They are very useful for interplanetary trips from orbit, but they just don't have the power to get off the ground. Plus most designs can ONLY work in a vacuum.

We've been there enough times, let's focus on Mars"... first, yes, focus on Mars all you like, but we can't get there yet. And why not go back to the moon? To see it, google "The Naked Scientists". In the "New Theories" section of the forum there's a thread entitled "Did We Land on the Moon?". It's on page 15. It's the 7th post from the top.

When I was a small boy I used to watch all the great Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon and other movies from the 40's and 50's and dream of space flight. Then Star Trek came around when I was 13. Fantastic! I also was a huge fan of the space program and watched every single blast off. They used to bring the TVs into our classrooms to watch them. I watched the first Moon landing live. It was one of the most exciting moments in my life.

The technologically feasible atomic powered rockets had an issue with military nuclear attack tactics at that time and was the "real reason" for the atmospheric test ban treaty. (The emp from each explosion creates an anti-detection shield, allowing warheads fired from behind the explosion to do a first strike much closer to the target, minimizing a chance for retaliation.) Its not like the nuclear spacecraft would lift off under its own power, it would first be propelled into orbit by a SR booster like any other spacecraft.
Regardless, NASA is currently developing a nuclear propulsion system (Prometheus) but it is in danger of being shit-canned since the allocated funds to finance the project have not been paid.

Most of the Constellation programs technology is just recycled from the Apollo era with updated computers and boosters. If Apollo was actually about scientific/human endeavor, and not political gain (beating Russia), we would of had a moon base years ago.
Instead once we landed there the government said "fuck it we already beat
Russia here" and just left.
And now, as of August 2009, it has been determined that a moon return or Mars mission is out of NASA budget for the foreseeable future.

The new LRO currently in orbit has a resolution of 0.5 metres, so it could image the Apollo landing sites, but NASA won't bother as it's simply not important that a few paranoid conspiracy freaks can't handle the truth. NASA knows even if it produced clear photos of Apollo the nutters would just dismiss them as faked.

Well, it's obvious that there was no landings by any of the Apollo missions and that they were faked.
Anyone with a basic knowledge of Physics would realise that the heat from the LEM landing thrusters would have melted the cheese into fondue.

Companies like NASA & Exxon etc dont want more effective tech like HHO and High Voltage/Current to be used because it cost less (practically 1/100th) of the cost of current tech. We have clean free energy and the tech to harvest it, I urge everyone to look into it. Solar, Wind, Geothermal the list could go on. Sorry if I offended anyone!

NASA makes me want to puke. Im sorry if I offend anyone but we already have the materials and tech to go to the moon faster safer and cheaper than these rockets. Rocket tech is far out dated! Read up on electrothermodynamics and electromagnetic purpolsion. Tesla (the father of electricity IMO) said we could go anywhere we wanted with minimal energy 100 years ago.

You don't understand anything about electric propulsion. Its basis is low thrust, high specific impulse propulsion and there is absolutely no way an ion thruster could generate enough thrust to lift a spacecraft into orbit. They are very useful for interplanetary trips from orbit, but they just don't have the power to get off the ground. Plus most designs can ONLY work in a vacuum.

We make new discoveries about the universe everyday, there are plenty of videos here on youtube displaying properties and power (potentially) of Electromagnetic propolsion. Its basis can be whatever I want it to be because im the one working on it, my design doesnt have to be the same as anyone else? Anyways!

first of all I think that a physics degree would serve you better in this debate. Anyway you have failed to reconise the law of conservation of energy. In other words you can use a tiny amount of energy but you can't just turn that into enough energy to say fire a rocket into space. What you put in is exactly what you get out as newton's 3rd law states.

If you had the materials and brains enough to understand The Handbook of Aeronautical Engineering from the 60's ( my fav book btw) you could go to the moon also like they did .

I am not against progress, but maybe it is better to spend the money to protect us from some stupid rock hitting YOUR city, country, earth so we don't meet with some extinct species...

Yes, you are right. It will go further, like 1000000 km roundtrip. Is it going to create as many jobs for the money it is going to cost to go back to the Moon? US can't even fix it's financial system!
Meanwhile there is A REAL DANGER from asteroid, comet and whatever else might hit us IMPACT, and we are powerless against it. If the piece of rock just 2 km wide hits us it will have "Rest in peace forever!" sign on it but it won't be us who reads it! I am FOR progress. but a MEANINGFUL one!

actually NASA has about .06% of the Federal budget...even at its highest during the mid-60s it was only 4.5%, quickly dropping below 1% by the early 70s and thereafter....
