The music in the beginning that has that "soaring" sound (the air rushing past your ears as you fly), what is that music, is it available? The sound is a part of the music? Because I really love it...

@birdheartedgirl This music was existing royalty free music licensed for the game; unfortunately I do not have permission to distribute it separately. The wind noise is the game sound effects, not part of the music.

Wow, as a swan therian, I'm so happy to see a realistic game designed to let you play as a swan! I really hope there will be a PC release, I don't have Xbox 360 and I can't buy one just for this game! But I need to play it! I'm in love!

@birdheartedgirl Alaysia (the swan) is my favourite, that is why she is in so many of the dev videos. You can see the swan doing water landings and takeoffs about half way through video #13. I will release on the PC if I can find a publisher for the game.

@jaguarqueen22 Windhaven is still in development but it is about 75% complete now. Windhaven will be released on Xbox Live Indie Games for 400 MSP. A PC release might also be available on Steam later.

I've been helping test this game, and it really is as awesome as it sounds. The challenges can be difficult but are not impossible, and the free flight mode is quite relaxing. I'm eagerly awaiting the story mode. Also, if you happen to find the game too easy, try the more realistic physics mode and just try to stay in the air! Windhaven is one of those rare amazing games that will be worth the wait.

@THEMIGHTYWEEDWACKER2 Yes, you can land and walk/swim around. I haven't implemented perching on tree branches yet, that's pretty low priority. Unfortunately Microsoft broke a lot of things in the new version of the Xbox programming tools (XNA 4), and it's going to take some time to make this game compatible with them.

This game reminds me of a downloadable demo called "Shark of the Seven"! T'was very short, but amusing.

I really like how each bird is true to their natural wing beat movement. I'm not too sure about the Star Wars style lazer beams though. But none the less, I look forward to its release date! :)

@bloodrecuted : This game doesn't use any pre-defined animations; I just input the physical parameters of the birds (mostly bone lengths and muscle strength). The physics/aero engine plus some very basic AI generates all the movements. It doesn't use conventional 3D models either; they are a combination of randomly generated (e.g. the trees), randomly generated from a basic template (landscapes) and procedurally generated based on geometric constraints (buildings, enemies, birds).

Development of this game is now resuming, after being suspended for nearly a year due to lack of free time to work on it. The game is currently about 2/3rds complete, so I am optimistic about releasing it this year.

If you did release it in that state, then even down the line I'd be willing to pay for an upgrade when the graphics were upped and the ambitious multiplayer support was added. I'm sure there are many out there pining to play a game like this, although between xbox and pc I'd rather get the pc version. I've been learning Torque to write something like this, but too late!

Thanks. It depends on whether the prototype gets picked up by Microsoft as an Xbox Live Arcade title ('up to 25' DBP entrants will be). If that happens we'll need to redo all the assets to a higher quality which could take some time. If not, the game will be released as an XBLIG title with the current graphics and less ambitious multiplayer support.
