...film is based on the first novel in the trilogy, which altogether have sold 50 million copies in 46 countries ...
but they make a 3.32m trailer - which always spells DOOM - no confidence in the story -in the audience - in the stars - and hiring a 'stylist' director won't mend a leaking boat.
It doesn't really matter who had the rights first. They are both adaptations of the novel, making the new version a RE-MAKE. Is it that hard to comprehend?
@Arc2 Oh my goodness! Ignorant people like you need to get their mouths taped shut!
It is NOT a remake! Fincher and Sony are NOT remaking the crappy Swedish so-called "adaption"! They are simply making ANOTHER ADAPTION of the original source material- the book!
@MadonnasMrDj The original "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" was an adaptation of the first book in the Millennium Trilogy. The one with Daniel Craig is ALSO an adaptation of the first book from the Millennium Trilogy. So yes, it IS a re-make considering it's already been made.
@iMDizzzzzy Except that it's NOT a remake, since they are not RE-MAKING the Swedish adaption. They are simply making another adaption of the novel. To me, it doesn't matter which version came first (Sony had the rights to the film version before the Swedish producers did, by the way!).
What matters is how good a film it is, and how close it is to the novel. The Swedish version was neither.
3 different Girl with the Dragon Tattoo movies within 2 years =/

If it's from David Fincher it's most likely worth watching.

@MadonnasMrDj Lol, You said it yourself, "They are remaking another adaption". In simple terms: a remake. Ok, thanks, bye.
Arc2 3 months ago
@Arc2 I NEVER said they were "remaking" anything. You put words in my mouth! Don't believe me?
"The internet isn't written in pencil, Mark, it's written in ink."
It's not a remake- that's final.

@Arc2 no, a remake means the same thing again. this is supposed to be different to the first adaptation. btw, i love you.
