This is from a production in the summer of 1961 at Aix-en-Provence, where Berganza made her international debut on July 23 at the age of 26. The conductor is Hans Rosbaud, Fiordiligi is Teresa Stich-Randall, Despina is Mariella Adani.

this is quite an engaging aria for any singer but especially for a mezzo as its range concentrates constantly on high E, F and G

Ms Berganza is very young here and at her best: true, her voice sounds like a soprano's but this is due to the a.m. range problem and she manages to retain a beautiful colour to it anyway.
