Music is an art and i think that people forget this sometimes. Performance take liberties and emotion is shown. If you dont watch the video its all about how you interpret the music. Did you enjoy the peice ? well if you did than thats what matters. Was her performance enjoyable? I try to think noone can play anythign perfect ever but i did thouroughly enjoyed listening to performance

I think that anybody who can play this piece cleanly and (at least moderately) in tune is amazing to me. Don't forget that the violin is a difficult instrument to play and requires a lot of hard work and dedication. Su Yeon may have her flaws but at least give her the props she truly deserves.

If you want examples of how she was a long way to go, just look at her bow arm; it's just about as stiff as a rod. You could also point to her rather inferior vibrato (no feeling; to regular). One could also point to the appalling use of dynamics.

Just because she is young does not mean she is inferior. I also don't think you can say she has "apalling use of dynamics" and "inferior" vibrato after viewing your horrid rendition of the bach prelude.

My Bach prelude was done in a cheap webcam over the course of two minutes (I hadn't even played the damn thing in months); what phrasings I used (I don't even remember) are rendered inaudable by the camera. look at my Martinu, my Fantasie Ballet if you want to see my playing. Anyway, my comments still stand; she is young, and she is inferior to professionals; I never related the two. By the way, let's see your playing?

Why don't you just enjoy her playing instead of creating needless competition and tension? She's having fun; that should be enough for you. I'm sure your friend is great too, and we, as listeners, should be glad that both of them are good so that we can enjoy the playing of both. Age isn't important as long as both the player/listener are enjoying the playing.
