where was this video taken? at just outa intrest??? was it at a rally or some kind of amature event???? I've got a brand new YAESU FT-857D there a brilliant radio arn't they I got mine last wednesday afternoon and I must say I am certanley inpressed with it's preformance it's a exelent radio to use and if anybody is thinking of buying one then defenately go for one trust me what I'm saying you will not be disapointed the 857D and the 897D are identical radios same fetures the works GET ONE.
I have this radio and i love it, bad things are the small meter so i got the ldg external meter works fine, the other thing is the yaesu matching tuner it sucks bad, the ant has to be under 2.5 to tune, i wasted money on it, should have got a ldg tuner. oh well lesson learned
Yes, most mobile units including the 897D are designed to run directly from 12 volts DC. As a matter of fact, if you want to run it at home you usually need a 12 power supply that can handle about 25 amps. Keep in mind, though, that the typical car battery is not designed for deep discharge cycles, so consider a marine/boat battery or a sealed lead acid (or gel cell) design for ham radio use.
Such an antique now!!!!!!
