It's amazing. They weren't even all the way through the second season yet, and look how developed their world already was. Almost all the characters were there, the town was a fully realized place, the locales already familiar...

It's also agonizing to watch the relatively fluid, flowng animation in this video and compare it to the SUPER-stiff, sterile, lifeless animation that they've watered themselves down to nowadays.
