there's 2 kinds of bikers. Those who fell and those who are going to fall... U just have to gear up so u can laugh about it. The best ride I ever had I fell 3 times that day (off road & dirt - dl 650)... but would do it again...
I'am surprised that you were laughing after laying down the v-strom. I would have been pissed off.... swearing....etc Did you have any Chassis protectors on the bike?
wacthed it all the way throuhg you cleaned up sand fucking good guys you need some recogntion for that somone could Had a horrible crash if you hadnt nice work
I really don't know what went wrong with this ? I've been in such situations and I'd recover it from falling...
Very strange because it seems the speed isn't too much high and the first sleep was quite small to cause the fall...very strange, maybe if the driver could explain better will be worth to learn and avoid that kind of accidents...
It was a U turn, a serpentine, so the speed was moderate. I was leaned a lot, maybe you can't see that from the video. Check my Corsica video - I have a raised Strom, it looks like leaning was not too much and I've scraped a peg in the beginning. Try doing that with raised Strom and you'll see the leaning angle.
I doubt there is a man on earth who would recover from this. It went so fast - I've hit with my crash helmet on the pavement before I've fully realised what's going on...
thanks for answering ibujanov, my intention never was to minimize your ability, just wanted to know what could happened, i was watching the video several times and I almost realize the lean angle....I could say, that almost feel it...yes was very impredictable..how fast do you think u went on the U turn ?
Hopefully your last accident too

Ouch! Fortunate for the crash bars on your Strom. It still hurts though - more for the bike than yourself!
Good vid actually, shows how quickly an accident can happen due to unforeseen circumstances, even when riding safely.

I need to put crash bars on my Strom...

The more I see of the V-stroms and their ability (not the riders) to handle any bad surfaces, the happier I am with my DR650.
Could've went faster flat-track style on a true dual-sport with knobbies.
rivercreep 4 years ago
It was not the bad surface, but 1" thick sand on the hairpin apex. Nothing to do with the bike type or tires.

sands a bitch the corners in poky idaho are covered with tons of gravel it sucks

Very lucky no oncoming, lean angles are unforgiving on sand.

The sand was 2-3 cm (1 inch) deep!
