  • Searched for "Drake" but I actually found good music

  • A Summer of 2008 encountered within my self depression I read for hours at a local Library , one day i walked past by the CD section and just placed my hand and reach to a random CD... it was Nick's "Pink Moon" , THAT day I discovered Nick Drake , THAT day was one of the Best days of my life. Thank You sir , I shall visit your grave perhaps soon.

  • Luv this tune.

    peace and luv.

  • i love this song :'D

  • I love how it says, "Playing at Rickshaw Stop, SF Bay Area on Jan 22, 2012." For some reason I don't think that's accurate...

  • it just wouldn't be a free market if someone didn't take beautiful, meaningful songs and try to sell you a car with them.

  • @johnnypocketable Well, a free market's better than an "un free" market, of course.

  • @irishbug14 Yes, undoubtedly.

Didn't mean to come across too socialist, haha.

  • @johnnypocketable Haha, I understand. I don't like seeing great music lose it's meaning in commercials either, honestly. But the good thing is that people discover great artists through commercials. I remember that song New Soul by Yael Naim a few years ago was in a MacBook commercial and it became popular. Interesting how that works. Nick Drake's sold more records than ever after that commercial. I find that pretty cool.

  • @irishbug14 Well said.

  • "now we rise and we are everywhere" :)

  • @shoegazingnudiscoer I love Shoegaze music.

  • Comment removed

  • @SX1995able isn't it great?

  • WHAT YEARS WAS HE POPULAR?

  • @MrVampiredog well really? atleast he wasn't while he was alive...

  • @MrVampiredog He was never popular. I`d say very late 60s, and early 70s.

  • @MrVampiredog Read the Wikipedia article on him, you will understand better.

  • @TheGreendragon1001 or is it the other verse, "Now we rise, from the ground".......?

  • beautiful

  • isn't this song on a car commercial or something? didnt know this was a real song?

  • I love you!

  • Nick Drake is without doubt the greatest songwriter of his generation and no others come close to matching his beautiful craftmanship. The world lost a wonderful talent and it will be a long time before a lot of people get over this loss to music.

  • go to my channel rkane6 for some amazing music

  • Thanks for posting......you made my day! Added it to my solo gig almost immediately.

  • beautiful soul!

  • Sleep tight sweet prince... Chalets and chiffon afhans apprise, you will arise... again.

  • I found his music by mistake & am really glad I did.

  • @hubbards98 You too? It has improved my life immeasurably, no exaggeration.

  • Wasn't Jim Morrison 26 when he died?

  • The iconic photo of Nick standing by the wall with the briefcase-late-for-work guy sprinting past aptly symbolizes the world rushing past while the artist hangs back and sees the world at his pace...

  • I'd like this song played at whatever send-off my family plans for me. It's such a perfect farewell song, like a bittersweet love letter to those left behind. God, what a loss for us all when he died.

  • This music opens doors to worlds I have not visited since I was a child.

  • i'm going to personally kill the next person to try to get people to go listen to their music by posting on this genius's videos. fuck yourself, idiots.

  • Mr. Drake is a huge influence of mine. His use of obscure chords and brilliant melodies is unparalleled. R.I.P. you are sadly missed

  • Wow! That is all I have to say.

  • wasnt tihs used in a commercial?

  • @swingAE86

Well I had this album waaaaaay before this was ever in a commercial.

  • @thecritiquevirtuoso I bought this album actually a year before the AT&T commercial. I was glad that I was able to reconigze it. I'm glad that I bought the album.

  • Stop advertising that rip-off shithole Starbucks.

  • Love it...a good gift to give during the holidays...pick up a CD at Starbucks.

  • i think the most appropiate comment for this song would be the simplest and most honest one:

    this songs makes me happy

  • look I come from metal and punk rock and this song is just awsome really nice and relaxing it really gives out a message.

  • 47 people have no ears...

  • Nick Drake is one of the best musicians that ever lived .

  • I know what you mean. i only discovered Nick's music earlier this year by chance. I am SO glad i did, he is fantastic. I adore his music.

  • Nick is a genius, i love it! and it's amazing how many people doesn't know him...what a shame!

  • u guys remember the at & t comercial ha that where i heard it.. the on with the cool orange sheets over seattle...yea

  • i love bob dylan but its like dylan is fiction and talks in metaphors while nick drake means everything he says and brings his uniqe perspective on life to his music

  • wow i am so glad i came upon this gem! beautiful yet chilling voice and the guitar compositions are just tranquil.

  • A day once dawned, and it was beautiful..

  • heavier than any heavy metal and acoustics lighter than air.beautiful.

  • Nick Drake's music is phenomenal

  • This was the final song on his final album. "Now we rise, and we are everywhere." is the epitaph on Nick Drake's grave.

  • @TheGreendragon1001 what does that phrase mean... " now we rise and we are everywhere"? Just courious

  • @scarmitdy Well, "we" could mean the young people who think differently about things, their generation or the up-and-coming one...?

  • @TheGreendragon1001 which is such a great phrase, but occasionally makes me think of zombies.

    pink moon <33

  • Was this song on a commercial or movie or something? I keep connecting it to something like that in my mind but can't figure it out. Was it an AT&T commercial maybe?

  • @Kr33mpuff yep it was an AT&T commercial. When I first saw that commercial over a year ago, it surprised the shit out of me, because I was listening to Nick Drake daily and wasn't sure if my subconscious was playing the song or if it was actually the commercial.

  • I was thinking about this song when I reconnected with an old friend of mine. Thanks for the strength and courage you give off Nick!

  • And now we rise, and We everywhere, and now we rise, from the ground.....

  • i have spent hours walking outside with no destination with this song playing and a blunt in my hand because all the emotions i cant express verbally when hearing this song come flooding through. its a nick drake effect not much other artists can do

  • @mrbonquiqui1 dog, me too. none of my friends understand how magnificent he is either :/

  • His songs are so beautiful and pure. so brilliant. I love it

  • This is just Beautiful

  • Comment removed

  • this man is timeless. just brilliant.

  • More musicians should follow

  • search nicolas and the iceni summers end. they write beautiful english folk music which has echoes of denny and drake.

  • a full movie is being made soon! not sure who nick will be yet?

  • @MrGarysCreigh `I vote benedict cumberpatch

  • @dionrowntree That is an excellent suggestion. Cumberpatch would probably resemble Nick quite a lot as well, with a few tweeks here and there. I hope it's a British actor that plays Nick. Will not be happy if they pull in an international actor just to draw the money in.

  • @jrb1802uk I've seen James D'Arcy's name thrown around - he has a good look as well

  • @MrGarysCreigh

I think it would've been Heath Ledger. I know he was a big fan of Nick. Too bad he can't do it. :(

  • This song is absolutely beautiful.

  • "Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy"..........Ludwig Van Beethoven.........I think he nailed it.

  • @movement26 I nailed your mum!

  • @movement26 not really but that's ok

  • "Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy"..........Ludwig Van Beethoven.........I think he nailed it.

  • he looks extremely sad in the second picture

  • Hey,

sorry, I wrote this on Pink Moon too, but...

I'm an aspiring singer/songwriter. I'd like some feedback on my music, and I figured I'd go to a respected artists page to find fans who know what's what. If you would like to critique, slander, or praise my music that would be appreciated. I appeal to your superior musical culture as nick drake lovers

  • He is pretty good, but still I find he tries a little too hard to emulate Justin Bieber. Which isn't really respecting J.B.

  • I'm always dead silent when this album is over.

  • search nicolas and the iceni summers end. they write beautiful folk which has echoes of denny and drake.

  • So few persons know of Nick Drake beyond "Pink Moon". That's tragic. His tunes may not be "hits" as perceived, they are more like great works of art or literary genius. Not saying that they don't sound superb, like heaven to the tenth degree, it's just that these songs are so sophisticated and over a lot of casual listeners heads.

  • passionate comments, by passionate people.

  • how dare a fucking car commercial use this amazing song for there shit company

  • @PuffSmelly I had the exact same reaction. This is a magnificent piece of art, not something to be used to champion your piece of shit car.

  • @suicidefilming right on man the future has no mercy on the sensitive

  • search nicolas and the iceni summer's end. they write beautiful folk music which has echoes of Denny and Drake.

  • What a gem!!!!!!!!!

  • Strangely enough he and Jim Morrison could have been twins.

  • @farfisavox75

they died almost at the same age too.

  • when ever Nick's music touches our soula, he is more alive than ever and he shines like the sun in morning or the moon bathing fields in silver.

    And now we rise

    And we are everywhere

In our hearts you are everything

  • We all miss you Nick. I wish you were still here with us....rip....T.T

  • This song is too short..-_-

  • Its weird i can see the pain in this mans eyes

  • if you like this kind of music you might enjoy my channel...

  • I coach a basketball team and we upset the #1 team in our final game and thought we would make the tournament. However upsets in several other games kept us out. We were all pretty sad, but the next day I listened to this song and I felt better. The whole "now we rise..." and "go play the game that you love..." seemed to speak right to me and my team.

    Thank you Nick Drake!

  • this song brings tears to my eyes, I went to visit my Dad for the first time in 5 years and he played this for me. I'll always remember my Dad through Nick Drake :)

  • quote "it's not a songwriters job to be liked, it is to be remembered"

  • reminds me a little of mojo pin

  • search nicolas and the iceni summer's end. they write beautiful english folk music which has echoes of drake and sandy denny.

  • Nick Drake was a genius. Too bad he died so young.

  • I may not know as much as some here about Nick Drake, but I hate the fact that people are celebrating the fact that it has been used to advertise products

  • AT&T commercial song 2010...love it! #peaceful

  • it is not about success my friends. it is about art!

  • Comment removed

  • It's funny this is the only song i prefer in low quality it makes it sound better and older.

  • Comment removed

  • it's too bad that he was so shy and introverted, he could have acquired a monumental audience and much greater mainstream success. I guess that makes him that much more of a hidden gem to those that don't know his genius.

  • I'm so glad I'd seen that at&t commercial. If it had not been for them I would not have discovered such beautiful music. How could people not notice him ? I'm glad to say I am a fan of Nick Drake. His music touches you very gracefully.

  • he is such a talented musician like a neil young that was never heard by so many, there should be a movie made about his life to let people know what they have missed for the past 30 years.

  • @PunkRockIsFreedom77 i know someone who is planning on making a play about him.

  • his music is relaxing

  • I love this song :) it's so relaxing

  • the late great nick drake ahead of his time and timeless

  • There is no film footage of Drake - just still photos

  • Very delicated, emotional and introspective song. The perfect end for the "Pink Moon" album.

  • pretty sureeee ive heard this in a moviee

  • 46 have no soul

  • @rasheef Oh, I so agree. Who the hell could dislike this? Seriously? :S

  • Wow! finally 1,000,000 views! but its still not enough...

  • cant listen to Nick without a lump in the throat.... beautiful man with a beautiful soul x rest in peace x

  • why I am i just learning about him? what an amazing and under-rated talented man!! Ray Lamontagne led me to him.

  • This song is the reason why I stay awake 3 minutes more, before I go to bed. I love Drake, he's my inspiration, my spiritual healing!

  • R.I.P. beautiful soul

  • This is arguably one of the most gorgeous piece of music ever written by a singer/songwriter.

  • @SmileyWhiplash Ever heard of Elliott Smith?

  • @bubsadoozy Elliott Smith is awesome, but Nick Drake is less depressing imo. :)

  • @fizzgigify I totally agree. Both are amazing depending which mood you're in.

  • @SmileyWhiplash

    arguably......

  • what commercial is this on.... that makes me angry they would defile a dead man by using him to make yourself money... jesus christ...

  • @tpstrat14 think the fact that commercials, movies etc,let people hear the brilliance of people like nick drake, and others, more than makes up for the methods,or reasons they use to do so.its a commercial world we live in,business rules, thats just how it is!!(hence the x-factor etc, etc)a million views here, and its not gonna stop, the volkswagen, pink moon advert, probably put nick drake on the map!he never benefitted from his brilliance, but at least everyone else can!!!

  • i picture this song playing every time i go to the doctors early in the morning

  • Dave Matthews is a thief, he totally copied Nick Drake's style!

  • Such an arrangement of beauty...could listen to this ANYTIME...just get carried away with the melody, the lyrics...thank you for posting!!!

  • I like your youtube name being a massive VII reference and that youve uploaded this

    Good combo ;D

  • Ayman Al-Zawahiri is in karachi

  • this is beauty from within, radiating from the outside. thumbs up if you agree.

  • @cheesekiller26 can't be said any better than you just said it

  • This song is one of the most beautiful and somber things I have ever heard. I can't hear it without crying.

  • Nick would have been 63 today. Oh for parallel universes...

    What might've been.

  • I want this song in my funeral

  • Fabulous

  • This is the last song on his last album and it is a 2 minute summary of the beauty that came from all his previous songs. After I heard it, there was silence that filled my room and I realized that there was no more of Nick's work to be heard. I wasn't sad since every time I hear a song of his, there's something new that comes from it. He didn't only record three albums, he recorded an infinite amount. Thanks again for your music Nick.

  • @julzrulzable Nick was great but that alot of corn you just spewed LOL

  • @julzrulzable Stop trying to be figurative and deep and accept the fact that your words do Nick Drakes work no justice. Logical fallacies are not rhetorically effective you stupid cunt. He recorded three albums, if you have a different interpretation of his work every time you hear it than just say that, dont spew mindless want-to-be poetic bullshit and stop insulting the mans work.

  • @BloodofErin1798 Seriously, the man just wrote how he felt about the song, and clearly a fair few people share his feelings about Nick Drakes music. You might find his statement ridiculous and silly, but to call him a stupid cunt over it is just plain immature. There's no need to be so argumentative.

  • @BloodofErin1798 Ok man, I get it. Keep in mind though that what you spew is also marked as a comment under Nick Drake's work and it does not deserve to be here. Next time inbox me.

  • @julzrulzable god ;} truest past the galaxies

  • I just love this tune. I have only just discovered Nick Drake and I love him so much. What a wonderful singer/song writer. He has become a big part of my life these days. Blessed be and merry be. x

  • @theOUCHcollective he had a profound understanding of how our lives are lost without full connection to nature & of how as people (animals) we are part of the whole, not above it -he sees the feminine in nature, an echo of our natural spiritual roots- he learnt about animism from the servants in his home and was apparently fascinated by Glastonbury, Stonehenge and ley lines- he was like a pagan in a very wide sense, feeling the natural light of life through himself & translating this into music

  • @bootes33 Many Thanks for information. It was very kind of you to let me know that stuff. I also like Stonehenge and Glastonbury and have been there many times. I will remember Nick next time I am up the Tor.

    Thanks again.

  • this song is so intelligent and beautiful

  • Oh baby...gone way too soon..so sad...may you and Jim Morrison be up there making amazing beautiful music together...

  • Dans le pang of childhood i was thrusted my chalice is wine. i was sent in to flights of chaste fantasy.i was destroyed by hope. and i was still born.

  • the other way is tyranny. What could i say, i dont believe in the rights of man, i believe in the ways of man.. The day stormed and everyone agreed, And here i am in hell, where every fat lesbian gets to speak for humanity.

  • Any fans of this song should check out Gordon Wiseman's song "In My Dreams"

  • I think Alexi Murdoch sounds very much alike him but both artists are great ;)

  • Will always love him...

    So beautiful.

  • Could have been recorded yesterday, sounds as fresh today as forty years ago.

  • this song is just beautiful. i love to go out into the fields, sit under a tree and play this song on my guitar <3

  • gran voz!!! es muy completo!!!

  • Nick Drake is the best songwriter ever.

  • I feel that it is physically impossible to like this song,

i now know why my father force fed me Nick Drake and only recently have i become aware of how beautiful and talented this man is. His music makes me feel as if i'm in a different world. It has the ability to make me cry.. with happiness

  • Do you think being born from death will be as scary as dying in life?
