The funny thing is that the space elevator would allow us to build orbital farms. We could literally grow most of our food in space and then send it down the elevator.

space elevators would be too risky....... if your hoping for it to be in your lifetime it wont.... they have to account for orbiting satellites, the rotation of mars and earth as well as their orbit around the sun, what if something breaks while going from A to B. You'd be stuck in space for a looooooooooong time. The distance from Mars to Earth is astronomically enormous.... If i am part of a space elevator team i would make sure to figure out a solution to the problems first. before making it
