This is for you @Fender377 If anybody wants to know and for future reference what this song is, its called "Sigur Ros - Svefn-g-englar" like this if you want others to know.
That was amazing. It was one of the simplest, yet one of the best vids I've seen. Your choice of music alone deserves so many more thumbs up than I can give.
In most space related things, a ship has artificial gravity. For Humans, it is as strong as Earth's gravity. Hence, why there was a fire. Because the gravitational pull was strong enough to keep the oxygen inside instead of quickly disappearing, or imploding.
@MalumZeth Not sure what that minmatar had fitted but even a noob would have his high slots filled out, along with a web (if not a warp disruptor) and the range would have had that little frigate dead in its tracks XD Rifters are the shiz for combat. I'd also have an afterburner just to make sure they can't get away.
Actually, the flame in any fire you see is light emitted from ionized gases, but only if the oxidation reaction yields relevant bandwidth coverage. You don't need oxygen specifically. In fact, you don't even need any reaction so long as you have some gas and enough energy.

@MyFaceHole Not really, double click anywhere in space to move in that direction, or choose a target, right click and choose either approach or warp to
pretty awesome man, i expected something totally different by clicking on a link to this, but got something even better than a blob ambushing some poor fleet ;)
@DorusDomino Combustion is not possible without Oxygen, which is pretty much fire. Explosions on the other hand are possible, because an explosion is just a sudden release of energy. So that's why reaction like the Sun and Nuclear reactions can occur in space.
@thisisme357 Thanks for the kind words. The eve client has some great "camera" options that really help when making videos, but getting the angles just right was a challenge. I ended up with about 2 hours of footage that I edited down to these 3 and a half minutes.
@DorusDomino Because no matter what you make in life, whether it be a video gmae, movie, or a crayon-colored picture of a pony, explosions always make it better whether it's realistic or not.
EVE is a game of space ships shooting at eachother. Let it go, dude. Should the game be played muted, too, since there is no sound in space?
It's so easy to make movies in EvE since the game is so pretty to begin with, but not many people to it well. The long shots with the executioner in the background with the fire trail is nice.
Music is way more important than the visual. Most people who are good at this sort of thing have a song in mind and then visualize to the music. At least that's what I do.
So what came first Poster, the audio or the idea. :P
@fishblades Tough question. I had the idea for this video bouncing around for a while, but while listening to the song one day the structure for how the idea would play out came into my head. So, both?
Actually getting the structure damage/fire trail effects to show in the video was a bitch because I had to keep switching my "camera" account. :)
@rulesaremyenemy there's a lot of theories on where exactly the "fire" from hull damage comes from. since, on most ships, if not all, it's close to the engines, most assume it's just leaking fuel that caught on fire from anything between a short circuit to enemy gunfire, but it could be anything. besides, eve physics aren't too realistic and the fire could just be an eye perk.

@StelarCF Well yeah, but I would think that nobody would want to waste O2 reserves that they may need during a critical system failure to run the engines. ^_^
Yep & sending small gangs of ship all over the place is how you take space in EVE! CCP have stuffed the game with it now black screening for groups smaller than 400 in total in some places!
Am expecting at least a decent amount of people will stop playing EVE if it doesn't get fixed soon as it is boarder line unplayable unless your a Empire dweller
CCP should have updated 0.0 large battles cause they are shit with this new expansion. Sure things look pretty, but when you staring at black screen its not to great.
Great stuff! Very cinematic :)

just look at the sun and tell the there can't be fire in space
lukalalala 1 year ago
@lukalalala
Actually the sun is not fire, it's superheated hydrogen plasma.
However you're right in the fact that you can get fire in space, as long as the oxygen is supplied from somewhere.
e.g. the life support system on the ship.
Clint945 1 year ago
@DorusDomino What if the explosion happened by the oxygen scrubber and the hull is leaking O2? ;)
rulesaremyenemy 1 year ago 15
@rulesaremyenemy what if thats not actually fire, but various ship-borne gases and plasma leaking from a damaged section?
ArchAngelTruth 1 year ago

Wizardunic 10 months ago
@uselessSomeone A simple explanation is that there fuel does not require oxygen to burn, so is able to burn even in space
vipertxt 10 months ago
@vipertxt hah! there doesn't have to be oxygen in space; can't they carry their own?

@vipertxt during a critical system failure the capsuleer is automatically killed and replaced by his clone.
So there is no need for so much O2
