If you were to compare the actual income tax rates that the billionaire pays to that of the maid the billionaire pays a larger percentage. this is why we need the fare Tax Act to be passed so that everyone pays the exact percentage into the system, & so everyone knows they pay the same.

Texas, in particular, is "extremely imbalanced" in its reliance on sales and property taxes. Even without having to pay income tax, the poorest fifth of Texans ended up paying about 12 percent of their income in taxes in 2009, ITEP reports. The wealthiest 1 percent of Texans paid only 3 percent of their income in state and local taxes.

If you tax the rich more ( they own the businesses) they raise prices to make up for money they lost. They also pay huge corporate taxes, hoping for tax breaks so their businesses survive. And inflation hurts everybody. Even economists like reagonomics, the reason it didnt work is because we needed more military spending to keep up with the ussr.
