@cheeto165 so breking into strip malls and spray painting numerous businesses is a peaceful protest. Also what are there demands, I mean come on. @venusbrain that is some twisted logic. you are defending the perpetrator of the violence. this is why i don't trust any of you. you side with anyone who shares your views no matter what the person does. It's just like the nazi's in germany. I suppose you are defending the accused rapist Tonye Iketubosin...after all she was in his tent , right. This is how the nazi's started rounding up the jews, intimidation, surrounding them and destroying any one who didn't fit in or agree with them.
@MrPooponit I don't know anything about the alleged rape, so I take no position, on that, as you shouldn't either; but I know everything about this assault with a 2-ton deadly weapon because I can see it with my own eyes. It's fucking funny that you think I'm the one with twisted logic, when you're comparing Nazis to some guy that got run over by a car.
@venusbrain and what about the video link, i noticed you completely left that out of your post back.once again if it was an assault he would have been charged, it was not, so he was not charged. your opinion will not change the law.
@venusbrain you don't know everything from the video. the audio is inaudible, maybe he was saying i'll kill you or i'm gonna kick your ass. maybe there was someone on the other side of the car, the girl was at the passenger door, why?. you jump to conclusions because you think with your emotions and not neutral logic or common sense (for some).
@MrPooponit You're the one thinking with your emotions. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty, so until you come up with something that proves he posed a credible threat to the driver, I'm not going to believe it. I will, however, believe what I see in the video, like any rational person would.
That guy was assaulting the man in the car. the woman who was ran over appears to be at the passenger door. they were assaulting this guy. and not everyone appears scared when they are. one frontal assault and another creeping at the passenger door....put the pedal to the floor, escape. the guy that hit the car should be charged with assault, intimidation, unlawful imprisonment and property damage. then sued for all the grief he is about to cause the innocent man in the car.
@MrPooponit What drugs are causing this hallucination of yours? The driver assaulted them by driving up to and shoving them with his car(a 2-ton deadly weapon). Maybe I should try doing that to you and see if you don't get pissed and start banging on the hood. That doesn't justify attempting vehicular homicide. If it does, maybe I should go run down the assholes who put dents in my car. I didn't hit them in my car to deserve it so I definitely get a free shot, right?
@venusbrain you are mistaken. you need to watch the video again. first the man stops, lunges toward the car and then he hits the bumper, starts a verbal assault then imprisoned the man by not letting him leave, the man in the car is honking, indicating he wants to leave, he begins to inch forward and the man makes it clear he is imprisoning him at which point he begins to attack the man in the car and the man escapes. you can't say he attacked the car because the car was driven by the man.
To Fox news fans. There's no such thing as a liberal media. All the stations are owned by huge corporations. Not one of them spoke out abut going to war in Iraq. None of them EVER made a stink about the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty. Google it. What happened to Walter Cronkite & real news? How many stations reported on this man being run over? Instead of believing everything Fox says, try reading credible books 4 yourselves, go to a library & ask for help. It's not OK to run people over.
@Spanosmusic a few blogging outlets, but in reality, liberal media (an entity that exists), far outnumbers little ol' FOX NEWS...as far as the running over, I made those statements while clearly acknowledging that I didn't know about the specifics, exept what I saw, and what the liberal media neglected to show. No, it isn't ok to run over anyone, but it isn't ok to damage property, rape, do drugs, violate city ordinance's regarding public and private property (parks), violence against police,
@Spanosmusic espousing racist beliefs (anti-semetism), and a # of other immoral and illegal things either. But that is what the protesters are doing in all parts of the country. And all the while, they havn't even said what they want, specifically. They are a bunch of self-entitled lazy punks, most of whom failed miserably in school and in life choices, and now are just angry and want other peoples $. As far as the 2008 financial crisis and understanding it correctly, you need to understand
@Spanosmusic the influence of the FED, government "REGULATIONS", not "DEREGULATIONS", and the entire methodology of capitalism. There was no risk in these transactions, which is why they occured. I could write over a 1000 word essay to you right now but, I have a class to attend, but "YOU" should read Peter Schiff, Adam Smith, and David Hume, and learn what capitalism is. Educate yourself....
@Spanosmusic blah blah blah. no one gets news from any of those networks anymore. you can see everything for yourself with the social networks and read several views on any story from thousands of sources. "It's not OK to run people over." most people don't want to run over someone, but in certain situations you are within your rights to do so for your personal safety.these are the laws.
There's something very wrong with this country. I think most Americans agree, left, right, poor&middle class, that the banking failure has ruined our economy. Not only has no one been held responsible, they got bonuses! It started under Reagan with deregulation, promoted by big business&banks. It continued with Bush, Clinton, Bush Jr. now Obama. Our gov. works for the rich not us. Now it's come to all this. Screw the news especially Fox. Read investigate, learn 4 yourselves with an open mind.
@Spanosmusic Well, first off, I am a political science major, minoring in international affairs which has a strong basis in "history." Secondly, capitalism is still the predominant economic system in this country, peppered with tidbits of socialism and special interest lobbying. Now, to assume that the presence of a monopoly nullify's the condition of capitalism, shows that you clearly do not know anything about the capitalist system, which by the way, I am currently writing a term paper on...
@Spanosmusic Continuing, YOU should do more research on capitalism and what the actual definition of the economic model is. As far as the liberal media, I suppose it depends on predispositions and biases, that is, what side of the political spectrum you are on. I myself am a strong conservative (not social), and I can openly admit that Fox is biased towards conservatives, irrespective of who "OWNS" them...CNN, MSNBC, NBC, and CBS are clearly on the other end...Honestly, I would have to referen
@Spanosmusic reference every single story, the kinds of stories covered, the amounts of time given to certain stories, omitions and doctoring video and audio, and of course, the # "opinionated" statements on midday newscasts, not the evening newscasts, becuase clearly "Hannity" is not objective, but neither is Rachel Maddow. IDK where you get the idea that a liberal vs. conservative media doesn't exist. They both do. To ignore that is kind of ridiculous. Yes, conservative have talk radio and
Find out who the driver was and how he is connected to corporate media or whatever. You know he is connected. Wake up people. These incidents are on purpose.
try hitting my hard-earned car (yes, it's a luxury). i'll run over you, then get out of the car and stomp on your fucking head. that scum got what he deserved
look 123 stfu niga his nt the criminal u stupids watch the fuking vid the guy stop the driver then bang his hood driver got mad ight so yea the guy deserve it except the girl she didnt she was with the guy maybe boyfriend girlfriend so it the guy fault
@HeartAttack141 Yes, of course you're right. Anyone who blocks traffic or hits a car with their fist should be run over and killed. New Yokers would just love that! Do you really think that if some crazy person crossing the street suddenly hits your car it would be OK to run them over? Do you think the police would let you or me get away with that? I can just imagine telling a judge, "well your honor, as you can see in the video, he hit my car so I had to run him over." Do you think I'd walk?
Don't stop in the middle of a crossing in front of a car and start banging on the hood, or surround and yell at or start banging cars that are trying to drive away, etc.
This is the best advice I can give to avoid being run-over.
These liberal idiots need to pack up and go home. They are losers and the only message being sent is we are doing unseedy things where we are camped out. We are destroying nice public parks. Martial law will be declared because thse nut jobs are violent. Obama would love to declare martial law before the elections so he can suspend elections and become more a dictator than he already is.
@theenforcer1977 Aren't those people part of the "public" too? Does the constitution only apply to those who you agree with? If the nut jobs were so violent, I'd think they'd have dragged that driver out of his car and strung him up. Banks & large corporations have screwed liberals & conservatives, left, right & middle. What's with you & Obama? Obama, Bush 1&2, Clinton, Nixon & Reagan, they're all the same. They don't work for us, they work for the rich. Don't believe me study 4 yourself.
@Spanosmusic I don't support the big politicians. I support the little guy the ignored Ron Paul and Jesse Ventura. Im all for protesting but not like this. Go DC where the criminals live the politicians and occupy dc and leave the cities alone to do business with small business.
Watch Fox News and understand what these protests are really about, not this biased bullshit media coverage from outlets like abc, nbc, msnbc, and even cbs and cnn. They cover only the good. They overtly ignore the obvious illegal behavior of a large minority of this group. Atleast 25%...This is going to ruin our country....These people are going to tear down everything that has made us great....CAPITALISM PROMISES RAPID PROGESS AND A GROWING PIE, BUT PROMISES AN IMPOVERISHED CLASS. accept it
@jiventurkey718 I think you should study more US history instead of watching Fox news or any other news, they are all biased and controlled by huge corporations, Fox is the worst of the bunch. We don't have capitalism anymore but a bunch of monopolies. The country has already been ruined. The average American has been sold out, left and right and we're being played against each other instead of being united. How many bankers have gone to jail for destroying the economy? None they got a bonus!
And all you hear in the background are angry failures, screaming nonsense. These animals are disgusting. A bunch of self-entitled, noisy, lazy pieces of garbage....I still don't get what all of these "occupier's" are protesting against or what it is that they seek to achieve from this nonsensical behavior..."HE'S A FUCKEN CRIMINAL".....ummmm, guy....look around, your the real criminals....
Also, watch the beginning, he almost hits another lady as he cut off a bunch of people crossing the road, even before he comes to a stop due to the couple in front. You people standing up for him must have no shame whatsoever.
How anyone can stand up for this driver is beyond me. He was aggressively pushing his way through a group crossing the road and nudging someone with his vehicle, someone who was crossing the road, and turned to face approaching steel menace. The white shirted guy was bumped into before he hit the hood, so how come so few seem to understand why the pedestrian was so angry? The driver was very aggressive towards the pedestrians. I bet he was some entitled big league who will get off from privilege
@EZisasEZdoes Your a fucken idiot..first of all the dumn ass is banging on the hood, attempting to damage his property...Second, he could have been threatening the driver, you don't know....Thirdly, in the event that he was threatening the driver, and the car contained children, possibly a baby, the danger would have justified the action, clearly....And he wasn't a "Pedestrian"....He's a protester who just happened to be crossing the street....The driver was clearly threatened and reacted...
@jiventurkey718 Hi, there was a News clip that has disappeared, they had a close up of the driver who didn't look afraid, but smug & impatient, a young guy mid to late 20's, no one else was in the car. The definition of pedestrian is: n. A person traveling on foot; a walker. That includes anyone, protester or not who is walking. What about the woman? You don't agree with the protesters so it's OK to run them over? I some drunk or homeless crazy person hit your car would you run them over?
@CenterNews just take a look at many of these movements overseas where the military has been brought in to restore order(unsucessfully in some instances). when large mobs of people start causing civil unrest and physically destroying the country they live in. if they don't do this in a civil manner, it will happen, mark my words.
@MrPooponit What's interesting is that I can't find video of any of that, yet there's a flood of videos showing protesters being brutally assaulted every day. I don't believe for one second that the police wouldn't release their own videos of these allegations if they were true. I don't believe anything that hasn't been proven, ever since I found out the truth about the 80 years of cannabis lies that made and kept it illegal. Your news and government are lying to you, and you're falling for it.
@venusbrain youtube.com/watch?v=RMDzb6ivT88. here is just one example, use your own research skills. I'm not going to do all the work for you, which is funny because your movement also wants me to do all the work so they don't have to. you are the one on the drugs according to your own post.
@CenterNews ?????, not who, but what...the video documentation, a large # of recorded arrests, reports of rape and even murder, drug use, anti-semetism....should I go on....?
In Paris in the 1980's a driver ran over a man who turned out to be a elderly citizen. The driver was literally lynched by the demonstrators which should have happened to this guy.
If you took the Benz driver to court the pedestrian would lose. The white shirt dude shouldn't be standing in the middle of the road in the first place Also banging on random people's hood is a big no no.
My biggest problem with the Mercedes driver is that it looks like one person is banging on the hood of his car, but he struck two people.
(I can't tell, was the other person also banging on the hood of his car? It doesn't look like it...)
If someone can tell me more about the other person who was hit , I'd appreciate it, cause right now, I have an extreme dislike of the driver of the car.
@MrDaxonislander The dude in the white shirt disobeyed traffic laws. He stood in front of his car then slams really hard on the hood. You can even hear the sounds with the camera phone. White shirt dude provoked the the car driver. It's pretty damn clear to me whose at fault here.
It would be a totally different story if the Benz was running a red light.
Pedestrians should follow traffic laws. If you went to court the pedestrian would lose.
@MrDaxonislander My consistency is fine. I'm referring you to other systems that both work, and for better or worse, agree with my mode of thinking. The "pedestrian" was given ample time to remove himself from a temporarily stopped vehicle. He, instead, tried to fight that vehicle, fist to hood. By all accounts, what happened next was on him. And, once more, the police effectively agreed. And (rare is it that I commend cops) good on them for doing so.
@MrDaxonislander Call me a troll. If that helps you comprehend that not everyone has your dim viewpoint, then by all means, use that as your device. It neither changes my position or thought on the matter.
Fuck, take a trip up to Canada some time. They've got it right. Pedestrians DO NOT have right of way up there. You step foot out into traffic, and you do it at your own (legal) risk. It's a policy that, saved for some minor changes, we should adopt.
@MrDaxonislander I wish I could say I was trolling, but I am not. I honestly do believe that a willing person, that steps in front of a moving vehicle, watches it stop and is given a chance to move, and then proceeds to instigate violent action towards said vehicle, loses all rights to pedestrian status. In Texas, it would be known as protection of personal property. Where I live, it's the same. As far as I'm concerned, it's willing suicidal behavior, and I'm just willing enough to oblige.
@AndrewDeLong yea....but that just shows how you shouldn't try debating, because your fucking crazy. so how do you apply these made up laws of yours....is it alright to run over people in parking lots also? Or how about when you're fighting with your woman/man and you decide to leave, if the don't want to move and had fair warning...you can just run them over. You're really not using your head.
@MrDaxonislander Well, with any hope, more of these violent protesters, wrapping on the hoods of cars, breaking shop windows, and causing all out chaos, will be run down by more brave motorists. You say pedestrian status in non-revokable, but evidently, in this case, it clearly is.
It would seem that it is not MY opinion that's out of line with the facts presented here, but rather, it is yours which is out of line.
@MrDaxonislander You said my opinion does not fit well with the facts "in this case." The facts are: A protester was hit by a driver. The police showed up. They gave the driver a citation, but did not actually charge him for hitting a pedestrian. Ergo, that person that got hit, did not, in the eyes of law enforcement, have said pedestrian status.
My opinion, protesters that egg motorists on & cause them unnecessary anxiety don't deserve pedestrian status.
@MrDaxonislander Fact is, the police didn't view the protesters as pedestrians, otherwise the driver would have been cuffed and charged for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was, instead, cited. So my opinion happens to coincide quite nicely with the facts in this case.
The kid hitting the car deserved it, teach that dumb ass from thinking he could touch a mans car and have no concequence. He should have just kept walking
@libralhippieabortion I'm not saying what the man behind the wheel did was right...but for someone like this punk who gambled by bangin on a guy's hood not knowing what the retaliation might be...look at where his smarts got him..in the hospital.
@MrDaxonislander Really, because from what I saw in this video, it was the fucktards that started shit. They didn't even have a permit to protest, so legally, they shouldn't have been obstructing traffic. The man pulled up slowly to the crosswalk, stopped, and got his hood wrapped on by the idiot in the road. What happened next is totally fair. The man in the Mercedes decided to drive. It's the fucking idiot in the road that's at fault as far as I, and the police involved are concerned.
The protester obviously was trying to insight the driver First by stopping in front of the vehicle and obviously yelling something to the driver Then by destruction of private property The protester is clearly seen pounding on the hood of the car We can not hear whether or not he is saying something as he does this So we do not know whether or not the driver was now in fear for his own well being It is very possible when one considers all the factors in I support END THE FED But right is right.
@Greg8835 its just your type of people with inhuman comments like that which make me wish this would turn into war so i could put a bullet in your head.
@cheeto165 Kid, I severely doubt you, or any of your type that supports the Oakland section of protesters could handle a gun, much less a war. Quit talking bullshit like that.
The idiot that got hit deserved it, as he and his ilk incited the situation. To show any support for them, is a simple denial of reality.
@AndrewDeLong see thats the problem with idiots... you assume things without evidence. I've seen real foottage of him standing peacefully, where is the footage you speak of...o thats right, there is none. So is this the future of debates>? You can just say what you want, make up any fact to support your views? well....good luck with that.
@cheeto165 Lol. The man wasn't just standing peacefully, you can see that much right here in this video. And I'll tell you what I told the other person who asked me these "what if" scenarios: If these things are being done by lone individuals, then DON'T run them over. If it's a Mob-like crowd such as what Oakland houses, then by all means, the drivers have a right to feel safe. If they have to use their cars as weapons to achieve that end, then so be it.
@AndrewDeLong you're not looking that bright. You seem to have forgot that the person blocked the car, then the car driver decided to bump the person with there car, then the person banged on the hood. So, the person never bothered the car until the driver acted hostile by bumping him with a car, the person had all the right in the world to bang on the hood of a car trying to push you out of the way, the driver felt safe until decideing to bump someone with their car.
@cheeto165 The bump can be seen as a mere physical warning by the driver for the person to get out of the way. And no, that does NOT give that idiot pedestrian the right to bang on the driver's hood. That gives the pedestrian the right to back way, take down the plate number of the car, and then call the police. Once the pedestrian showed signs of violence, the driver had every right to react defensively, which is what he simply did.
@AndrewDeLong wow...now your just trying to twist reality to prove an incorrect point. Bumpiing someone with a car is showing signs of violence. Who broke the law fisrt i ask? (The driver) Is it really leagal to bump people with cars? (No) Thats like saying its fine to shoot someone if they hit you back after you walk up and hit them first.
As the car bumped and kept car up against his legs, he pounder the hood, while the car is pressed against his legs. i hear cars have reverse.
That honor goes to the pedestrian (and the group he was with) that was
1) Jaywalking
and
2) Crossing the street when he and the group he was with did NOT have the lit up crosswalk signal to do so, and, in fact, the driver had the legal green.
Let me get this right, this is what you're saying is fine and legal. If i where in your driveway and wanted to leave and your wife was in my way and didn't want me to leave....so i bump her with my car, so she hits my hood with her hand. Now i have leagal rights to run her over?
@cheeto165 In the hypothetical case of you bumping "my wife" in our driveway, and then her simply hitting the hood of the car, no, you don't have legal rights to run her over. Now, if she were a part of a larger, unruly crowd that could be seen as a threat to your personal safety, then by all means, run the bitch down.
@cheeto165 it's a completely different scenario. being in the way and imprisoning someone against their will in a threatening manner are completely different. lf your significant other, lets say your wife, were at a light and some whacked out crazed lunatic (man) with a mob starts attacking her car, blocks her and won't let her go, just tell her to sit right there and wait to see what happens.
@MrPooponit the scenario may have been different. But still, the person had no right to run a person over. I watched the video again, there are people crossing the road while the driver decides to drive on anyway. Yes, the people are breaking the law(means call cops/not handle it yourself), So the driver slows down as the dude trying to cross puts his hands out. Driver decides to bump him making a statement...i will run you over. If they feared so much to run over, why did they stop right after?
@MrPooponit also, these are peacful protests...not angry mobs. I don't recall any news about the angry occupy mob beating people up...so the scenario you gave dosen't fit either. By the way...wasn't the driver a 250lb black man that looked like he could kick some ass....yeah....i'm sure he was about to piss in his pants.
@cheeto165 "By the way.wasn't the driver a 250lb black man that looked like he could kick some ass....yeah....i'm sure he was about to piss in his pants." RE: You are confusing this incident with the D.C. incident. In the D.C. incident the people who were run over were given tickets. The couple in this incident did not look "tough" and i'm sure they were very scared. "i don't recall any news about an angry occupy mob" RE:These people destroyed an entire block a few weeks ago, are you serious.
@cheeto165 haha unfortunately there is laws against pedestrians stopping in the middle of the crosswalk look that up buddy. nice try sounding like a psychopath. You dont see those people getting run over.
He pounded on the hood because the guy was inching forward and almost hit him. Just because someone hits the hood of your car does not give you the right to just run people over. The guy in the car should be sitting in jail not walking free.
@BabyK71482 Think about it. One person, in a car surrounded by a crowd of Oakland protesters. Do you honestly think the man in the car felt REMOTELY safe? I doubt it. His reaction was human, and normal. He wanted out of the situation. So he used his car to do that. If you want to blame anyone, then blame the vacuous fuck that decided to stay in front of the moving vehicle. He had ample time to remove himself from the front of the car, but chose not to. By all accounts, he deserved it.
@AndrewDeLong No he may not have felt safe but his reaction was far from normal. Had he waited none of this would have happened. If he was afraid he would never had pulled up. You don't try to cross the track with a train passing on it.
@CenterNews Sorry, but no. The man was trying t get home. It was NO HELP that these people decided to take to the streets, with no official protest permit, and decided to obstruct damn near everything. I mean fuck, the man even stopped first, he gave that idiot a chance to move. The idiot didn't take it, and he payed for it. If I jump in front of a vehicle, piss the driver off, and wrap on his hood, I should expect nothing less than to get hit. So should the guy that got hit.
@AndrewDeLong B.S. He wasn't in any danger. He ran the guy over because the guy touched his precious car. It's really sad that you would think any one deserves to get ran over. No one else got involved in it and they were all just walking past and continuing on their way. His car wasn't surrounded by people angry with him. He's a rich asshole that ran the guy over because the guy touched his precious car.
@BabyK71482 You say he wasn't in any danger, because you have the advantage of third person hindsight. Imagine yourself in his position though. Someone, with obvious money, in a now mob level city, with a bunch of people that are angry at the rich, surrounding you. One of them starts to wrap on the hood of your car, and you know these people in Oakland have a propensity for violent "protest." Are you honestly just going to sit idly by? I know that I, and most thinking adults, would not.
@AndrewDeLong Most THINKING adults wouldn't run someone over for hitting the hood of their car. Most thinking adults would wait for them to move or call the police, not run people over. Like I said, it's sad that you think running over people is ok. FYI, they are protestors, not a mob.
@BabyK71482 Most thinking adults would not want to remain in an area filled with people that, for the past week or two, have been seen as nothing more than a violent amalgamation of idiots. Again, you have the advantage of hindsight, so you're ill fitted to even comprehend how the driver felt when he was in that situation.
FYI: It's Oakland. "Mob" and "Protesters" are synonymous there. If this were any other city, you might...MIGHT have a point. But it's not, so you don't.
@AlienProFilms ok...what about the maniac that bumps someone with a car to suggest them to move. Wonder why people say so much dumb shit. The guy was in the wrong for blocking traffic, police should have stopped the protestors from trying to shut down a port, and streets. That is unlawful.
Police should have been called by the driver, not plowing over people. How would you like it if it where someone you cared about, altough in the wrong, think they should be ran over?

And all the while, they havn't even said what they want, specifically. They are a bunch of self-entitled lazy punks, most of whom failed miserably in school and in life choices, and now are just angry and want other peoples $. @Spanosmusic blah blah blah. no one gets news from any of those networks anymore. you can see everything for yourself with the social networks and read several views on any story from thousands of sources.

Now, to assume that the presence of a monopoly nullify's the condition of capitalism, shows that you clearly do not know anything about the capitalist system, which by the way, I am currently writing a term paper on...
jiventurkey718 3 months ago
@Spanosmusic Continuing, YOU should do more research on capitalism and what the actual definition of the economic model is. As far as the liberal media, I suppose it depends on predispositions and biases, that is, what side of the political spectrum you are on. I myself am a strong conservative (not social), and I can openly admit that Fox is biased towards conservatives, irrespective of who "OWNS" them...CNN, MSNBC, NBC, and CBS are clearly on the other end...Honestly, I would have to referen

Spanosmusic 3 months ago
Don't stop in the middle of a crossing in front of a car and start banging on the hood, or surround and yell at or start banging cars that are trying to drive away, etc.
This is the best advice I can give to avoid being run-over.

These liberal idiots need to pack up and go home. They are losers and the only message being sent is we are doing unseedy things where we are camped out. We are destroying nice public parks.

@jiventurkey718 Hi, there was a News clip that has disappeared, they had a close up of the driver who didn't look afraid, but smug & impatient, a young guy mid to late 20's, no one else was in the car. If you took the Benz driver to court the pedestrian would lose. The white shirt dude shouldn't be standing in the middle of the road in the first place Also banging on random people's hood is a big no no.
yellowman88 3 months ago
@MrDaxonislander I bet you your thought process would be completely different if the Benz was an old 1995 Honda Civic.
yellowman88 3 months ago
My biggest problem with the Mercedes driver is that it looks like one person is banging on the hood of his car, but he struck two people.
(I can't tell, was the other person also banging on the hood of his car? It doesn't look like it...)
If someone can tell me more about the other person who was hit , I'd appreciate it, cause right now, I have an extreme dislike of the driver of the car.
guoalber 3 months ago
@MrDaxonislander The dude in the white shirt disobeyed traffic laws. He stood in front of his car then slams really hard on the hood. You can even hear the sounds with the camera phone. White shirt dude provoked the the car driver. It's pretty damn clear to me whose at fault here.
It would be a totally different story if the Benz was running a red light.
Pedestrians should follow traffic laws. If you went to court the pedestrian would lose.
Stop being biased.
yellowman88 3 months ago
@MrDaxonislander My consistency is fine. I'm referring you to other systems that both work, and for better or worse, agree with my mode of thinking. The "pedestrian" was given ample time to remove himself from a temporarily stopped vehicle. He, instead, tried to fight that vehicle, fist to hood. By all accounts, what happened next was on him. And, once more, the police effectively agreed. And (rare is it that I commend cops) good on them for doing so.
AndrewDeLong 3 months ago
@MrDaxonislander Call me a troll. If that helps you comprehend that not everyone has your dim viewpoint, then by all means, use that as your device. It neither changes my position or thought on the matter.
Fuck, take a trip up to Canada some time. They've got it right. Pedestrians DO NOT have right of way up there. You step foot out into traffic, and you do it at your own (legal) risk. It's a policy that, saved for some minor changes, we should adopt.
Sorry kid, but not everything is B&W
AndrewDeLong 3 months ago
@MrDaxonislander I wish I could say I was trolling, but I am not. I honestly do believe that a willing person, that steps in front of a moving vehicle, watches it stop and is given a chance to move, and then proceeds to instigate violent action towards said vehicle, loses all rights to pedestrian status. In Texas, it would be known as protection of personal property. Where I live, it's the same. As far as I'm concerned, it's willing suicidal behavior, and I'm just willing enough to oblige.
AndrewDeLong 3 months ago

AndrewDeLong 3 months ago
Comment removed
AndrewDeLong 3 months ago
@MrDaxonislander You said my opinion does not fit well with the facts "in this case." The facts are: A protester was hit by a driver. The police showed up. They gave the driver a citation, but did not actually charge him for hitting a pedestrian. Ergo, that person that got hit, did not, in the eyes of law enforcement, have said pedestrian status.
My opinion, protesters that egg motorists on & cause them unnecessary anxiety don't deserve pedestrian status.
How am I off from the facts here?
AndrewDeLong 3 months ago
@MrDaxonislander Fact is, the police didn't view the protesters as pedestrians, otherwise the driver would have been cuffed and charged for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was, instead, cited. So my opinion happens to coincide quite nicely with the facts in this case.

AndrewDeLong 3 months ago
The protester obviously was trying to insight the driver First by stopping in front of the vehicle and obviously yelling something to the driver Then by destruction of private property The protester is clearly seen pounding on the hood of the car We can not hear whether or not he is saying something as he does this So we do not know whether or not the driver was now in fear for his own well being It is very possible when one considers all the factors in I support END THE FED But right is right.

cheeto165 3 months ago
@cheeto165 Lol. The man wasn't just standing peacefully, you can see that much right here in this video. And I'll tell you what I told the other person who asked me these "what if" scenarios: If these things are being done by lone individuals, then DON'T run them over. If it's a Mob-like crowd such as what Oakland houses, then by all means, the drivers have a right to feel safe. If they have to use their cars as weapons to achieve that end, then so be it.
AndrewDeLong 3 months ago
@AndrewDeLong you're not looking that bright. You seem to have forgot that the person blocked the car, then the car driver decided to bump the person with there car, then the person banged on the hood. So, the person never bothered the car until the driver acted hostile by bumping him with a car, the person had all the right in the world to bang on the hood of a car trying to push you out of the way, the driver felt safe until decideing to bump someone with their car.
cheeto165 3 months ago
@cheeto165 The bump can be seen as a mere physical warning by the driver for the person to get out of the way. And no, that does NOT give that idiot pedestrian the right to bang on the driver's hood. That gives the pedestrian the right to back way, take down the plate number of the car, and then call the police. Once the pedestrian showed signs of violence, the driver had every right to react defensively, which is what he simply did.
AndrewDeLong 3 months ago
@AndrewDeLong wow...now your just trying to twist reality to prove an incorrect point. Bumpiing someone with a car is showing signs of violence. Who broke the law fisrt i ask? (The driver) Is it really leagal to bump people with cars? (No) Thats like saying its fine to shoot someone if they hit you back after you walk up and hit them first.
As the car bumped and kept car up against his legs, he pounder the hood, while the car is pressed against his legs. i hear cars have reverse.
cheeto165 3 months ago
@cheeto165" Who broke the law fisrt i ask?"
That honor goes to the pedestrian (and the group he was with) that was
1) Jaywalking
and
2) Crossing the street when he and the group he was with did NOT have the lit up crosswalk signal to do so, and, in fact, the driver had the legal green.
So who broke the law first? The pedestrians did.
AndrewDeLong 3 months ago
@AndrewDeLong read my post before this one.
Let me get this right, this is what you're saying is fine and legal. If i where in your driveway and wanted to leave and your wife was in my way and didn't want me to leave....so i bump her with my car, so she hits my hood with her hand. Now i have leagal rights to run her over?
cheeto165 3 months ago
@cheeto165 In the hypothetical case of you bumping "my wife" in our driveway, and then her simply hitting the hood of the car, no, you don't have legal rights to run her over. Now, if she were a part of a larger, unruly crowd that could be seen as a threat to your personal safety, then by all means, run the bitch down.
AndrewDeLong 3 months ago
@cheeto165 it's a completely different scenario. being in the way and imprisoning someone against their will in a threatening manner are completely different. lf your significant other, lets say your wife, were at a light and some whacked out crazed lunatic (man) with a mob starts attacking her car, blocks her and won't let her go, just tell her to sit right there and wait to see what happens.
MrPooponit 3 months ago
@MrPooponit the scenario may have been different. But still, the person had no right to run a person over. I watched the video again, there are people crossing the road while the driver decides to drive on anyway. Yes, the people are breaking the law(means call cops/not handle it yourself), So the driver slows down as the dude trying to cross puts his hands out. Driver decides to bump him making a statement...i will run you over. If they feared so much to run over, why did they stop right after?
cheeto165 3 months ago
@MrPooponit also, these are peacful protests...not angry mobs. I don't recall any news about the angry occupy mob beating people up...so the scenario you gave dosen't fit either.
AndrewDeLong 3 months ago
@AndrewDeLong No he may not have felt safe but his reaction was far from normal. Had he waited none of this would have happened. If he was afraid he would never had pulled up. You don't try to cross the track with a train passing on it.
CenterNews 3 months ago
@CenterNews Sorry, but no. The man was trying t get home. It was NO HELP that these people decided to take to the streets, with no official protest permit, and decided to obstruct damn near everything. I mean fuck, the man even stopped first, he gave that idiot a chance to move. The idiot didn't take it, and he payed for it. If I jump in front of a vehicle, piss the driver off, and wrap on his hood, I should expect nothing less than to get hit. So should the guy that got hit.
AndrewDeLong 3 months ago
@AndrewDeLong B.S. He wasn't in any danger. He ran the guy over because the guy touched his precious car. It's really sad that you would think any one deserves to get ran over. No one else got involved in it and they were all just walking past and continuing on their way. His car wasn't surrounded by people angry with him. He's a rich asshole that ran the guy over because the guy touched his precious car.
BabyK71482 3 months ago
@BabyK71482 You say he wasn't in any danger, because you have the advantage of third person hindsight. Imagine yourself in his position though. Someone, with obvious money, in a now mob level city, with a bunch of people that are angry at the rich, surrounding you. One of them starts to wrap on the hood of your car, and you know these people in Oakland have a propensity for violent "protest." Are you honestly just going to sit idly by? I know that I, and most thinking adults, would not.
AndrewDeLong 3 months ago
@AndrewDeLong Most THINKING adults wouldn't run someone over for hitting the hood of their car. Most thinking adults would wait for them to move or call the police, not run people over. Like I said, it's sad that you think running over people is ok. FYI, they are protestors, not a mob.
BabyK71482 3 months ago
@BabyK71482 Most thinking adults would not want to remain in an area filled with people that, for the past week or two, have been seen as nothing more than a violent amalgamation of idiots. Again, you have the advantage of hindsight, so you're ill fitted to even comprehend how the driver felt when he was in that situation.
FYI: It's Oakland. "Mob" and "Protesters" are synonymous there. If this were any other city, you might...MIGHT have a point. But it's not, so you don't.
