Mrs. Gary Rossinton is one of the best volcalists - ever. She is on par with Janice and all other howlin's blues women that have stolen our hearts......She's still with her hubby, as a part of the Honkettes, Skynyrd's backup singers. I saw her out front as lead for the Rossington-Collins Band in their 1st tour in San Diego way back in the day.She was awesome then!! Listen to the 2 Rossington-Collins Band albums; you will hear the power of her voice!
An *Excellent* Song this US tour of 1980 *Kicked*Ass* & I was Very Lucky to see one of the 2 San Francisco, Ca. Warfield Theatre Concerts & It was *Simply*Outstanding* & this song was performed in *Fine*Style*!
every one was under rated, look at the splice and dice crap today. some of it sounds good but that few and far.where the skill and hard work from the soul
...calderone concert hall hempstead LI around 1980......sitting around 10th row, some guy in the first row pisses off Alan and he winds up literall kicking the guy in the head a few times before the idiot gets thrown out. RCB rules.
I also saw them around 1980-81 in Cleveland. I was in the 9th row in front of Allen. When they played Freebird, I couldn't believe how fast Allen's finger were. Skynyrd guys are some of the best musicians in the world.
I saw them around 1980-81 in Jacksonville and they were outstanding. There was not a dry eye in the house when they did an instrumental version of Free Bird and had an empty chair by the microphone!
This chick really has a great voice! It is very Janis influenced, as a previous poster mentions, but that is about the highest accolade you pay a female blues singer! Terrific track and some great lead guitar from Gary and Allen.
I met Dale Krantz before a Skynyrd concert in Milwaukee I think in 2000? waiting for Gary; they took their own bus and she was like another cool chick you would meet anywhere thats down to earth.Really cool and seemingly grounded.
I had forgoten what a strong band this was. It especially sucked when Allen went. Remember right where I was when I heard. Saw his Explorer (Gibson not Ford) at Hall of Fame in Cleveland with the big long label-maker tape on the back saying words to the effect of "all I want is for my friends and family to be alright".
I saw these guys on Nov. 15, 1980 in Fayetteville, NC at the Cumberland County Memorial Arena. They were great, the volume was ear-splitting loud, and I was pressed against the front edge of the stage...literally! That was in the days of general admission. The show was promoted by Beachclub promotions which was owned/operated by an old family friend from my hometown. A good time was had by all. I still have the ticket stubs. -BC
janis joplin or grace slick can not hold a candle to dale krantz. saw r/c in cleveland ohio. row 13 with billy powell at a white baby grand piano. point blank opened the show. what a show! one of the best i have ever been to!!!
i was at this show and many others before plane crash, georgia jam 74 atlanta staduim, lake spivey -jonesboro ga,several times at ga-tech-73 and 74,back to this show atrmuis pyle sat next to me at that show, what a great and sad night,
saw rossington collins in 1980 and 1981 great band allen collins im so glad I got to see him play.he was awesome on freebird and so tall and thin and gary and leon and billy. This music meant more back then........R.I.P ALLEN AND LEON ~^~
She was lead singer of the Rossington Band, Before joining Lynyrd Skynyrd with husband Gary Rossington. She performs with Lynyrd Skynyrd as a backup vocalist and contributing songwriter to this day.
Saw them in 1981 in Tampa - with the Henry Paul Band at the Bayfront Center. What an incredible band - something you can't forget forever. Thanks Dale & Gary - great show!
Don't know if I'm reading too much into it, but what comes through loud and clear in the guitar work here, above all, is 'pain'. Pain from the past, and (in Collins' case especially) the pain to come. What a moving track. Dale's vocal is stunning - she's no Janis copyist, despite similarities. One of so many fine songs destined never to be heard by enough people. Glad I'm one who did.
I saw this band in Indy in '81! Dale Krantz was the lead singer. This was the band that Gary Rossington and Alan Collins put together after the tragic plane crash that killed Ronnie VanZant and Steve Gaines of the original Lynard Skynard band. Manoman, she sounds like Janis Joplin! Rossington and Collins were guitar gods in their day!
I agree there buddy alan will always be the best for me too cant believe its 22yrs since he passed away at least hes reunited

Pretty sure this was on New Years Eve of that year?
We listened to it all night, and Freebird came on at the crack of midnight.
Will never forget it!

On New Years Eve in the early 80's a local radio station in Chicago played their concert live (they used to do that often back then).
We hung out in my basement listening with a keg of beer and a bag of smoke.
We were craving for Skynyrd, and this was as close as we could get to it.
I later saw the reincarnated Skynyrd at Charlie Daniel's Vol. Jam in Tennessee.
Supposedly their first concert post-plane crash.
