I am Anglican and some of what is seen here is unusual. We don't intone everything and sing the creed like here. I think that it may be the BCP for their service because of their language. The general concensus now is to have the service in the language of the people.
I don't like the BCP 1662 communion as it is so archaic and full of obsolete language. This is like going back in time to a period where the clergy did everything. Where is the ministry of the people.
I am an Anglican, and I will be received/confirmed on Easter Eve. You've no idea how thrilled we are that Pope Benedict has built a bridge for us to re-enter the Roman Catholic communion. Yes the Eucharist is traditional, though this is an Anglican use Roman church the mas is essentially the same. We like the old fashioned mass, very flowery!
I am not anglican but these groups of anglicans look pretty catholic and they keep many parts of the old mass like the altar and the rest, I couldn't explain but it's nice even I didn't grow up in the old catholic rite
@leigh0127 Yes this is the whole mass. The Introit, confessional, Kyrie, Gloria, 2 bible Readings and Psalm, Gospel, Sermon, Prayers, Peace, Eucharistc Prayer, Communion, Blessing and Dismissal, the Angelus. This is as complete as a Mass can be. What else are you expecting?!?
@foodie65 Oh, that's very interesting to hear actually. I'm Catholic and we seemed to have lost the tradition of singing the Angelus as well as the Salve Regina which used to be sung at every High Mass. It's rather sad. At least the Anglicans are keeping the sacred traditions of the Church alive.
@monkeyman3895 We sing the appropraite Marian anthem at the end of Mass (today it was Salve Regina) , and then sing the Angelus after this. We also sing a Marian Anthem at the end of Solemn Evensong and Benediction.
@rbueno86 Actually that's not true. Most Anglican services hav a more traditional feel that many Roman Catholic NO masses - which are very casual. There was a survey done recently in London, and 98% of visitors said they preferred the Anglican liturgy to the Catholic one.
@foodie65 I'm not talking about the masses (although I believe some catholic masses are still very beautiful) but I meant that the so called church of England is very liberal having women priests, transsexual priests and that kind of stuff. This video again is not from the so called church of England.
@rbueno86 This is Anglican liturgy and many parishes in the Church of England celebrate mass in the same way, and that don't accept women priests. The Episcopalian Church in the US is far more liberal than the Church of England as they have women Bishops. There are no transexual priests in the Church of England. And I don't know why you say " the so called" Church of England: when the Catholic church acknowleges it as a Church. Read about the Anglican Roman Catholic International Commission.
@foodie65 There are female clergy in the Church of England, and they are now debating women's ordination to bishopric. Furthermore Our Lady Of The Atonement is a Roman Catholic church that was formerly an Episcopalian perish who left the church for the Roman Catholic church. They are in full communion with Rome, however they maintain a liturgy that is reminiscent of the Book Of Common Prayer.Their book of liturgy is the Book Of Divine Worship, which can be found on Our Lady of the Atonement's site.
@lingualpfeife This is an 'Anglican use' which is a rite within the Roman Catholic church, so this parish is in communion with the Holy See. The Anglican use have their own Anglican rooted liturgy.
@lingualpfeife at Our Lady of the Atonement, within the Anglican Use of the Catholic Church, this is the liturgy we use for three out of the four Sunday Masses (the fourth being the Latin Novus Ordo)

Do you say the Angelus after every Mass? Also did you say the Angelus even when the parish was Anglican?

@monkeyman3895 I am Anglican and we sing the Angelus after mass every Sunday. Our liturgy is very similar to this.

They are Roman Catholic converts who have been allowed to retain their former Anglican rites. Hence, the term "Anglican Use."

Just to be clear: Is it a catholic or an anglican parish? (alternatively: are the clerics and the faithful in this video catholics or anglicans?

@lingualpfeife they are roman catholics, who used to be anglican, and now are allowed to still worship in a style that is like the anglicans!

There are definetly elements of the bycantine liturgy in this interesting form of the anglican liturgy. interesting, interesting...
How often is this form of the liturgy used by the Anglicans?

Beautiful Mass! I hope that with more Anglicans coming into the Church, there will be a full Anglican rite in the not too distant future.
Peace,
