@petermos2381 Nothing, but a hometown (unfortunately) can interfere with a match with biased ring politics ie (the shady two knockdowns not counting) . Its best if both fighter fight on neutral ground but I agree, birth place means nothing, I like different fighters from all over the world. Just because one is born in my home does not mean anything.

@petermos2381 Uhh....it has to do a lot with the first fight, where the canadian officials screwed Hopkins out of the belt. It's ok though he just had to come back and do it again. In 18 years when Pascal is 46 he'll just be reliving his glory days in his head, not smashing a younger "champions" face with solid lead rights.

Yes, Hopkins clearly won that 1st rd. That was a flash knockdown thrown behind the head, but hopkins was in a position where any punch thrown by Pascal was going to land there, plus Pascal in his hometown. That would have been called behind the head if in Vegas. Hopkins won this fight !@

That 1st rd knockdown was atrocious. CLEARLY and directly a rabbit punch, and hopkins was winning that rd. Went from 10-9 Hopkins to 10-8 Pascal, 3 pt swing on an illegal punch...and that was the fight right there.

I (obviously) gave round 1 to Jean Pascal. But I only gave him a 10-9 round instead of a 10-8 round.
The reason is because the knockdown occured in the last 10 seconds of the round, and I had Hopkins winning the round up to that point.

Pascal lost the fight in my opinion, but to be fair he beat a very talented fighter in dawson to get to where he is today. And if my memory serves me correct, Hopkins has had endless opportunities to fight Dawson, but has always declined. Pascal should not be considered a paper champ. A paper champ would't have lasted five minutes with someone like Hopkins. At least I think so.
Major congrats to Hopkins though.
