  • can you help me out. i have a ps3 thats connected to my monitor through HDMI if i connected an optical to the disc player on this system it works right? please help

  • Getting this next week.

  • is the reciever also a dvd/cd player?

  • oh wait , never mind, its a 5 disc dvd changer, but so pretty much the player is the receiver right? so for instance i can have surround sound with ps3 if I connect the ps3 to player with optical?

  • yea

  • Yes, that's what I'm doing later this month.

  • You can go optical from your tv to the receiver and anything playing on the tv will get surround sound.

  • yep

  • thinking about getting this particular model, could anyone comment on what they think of this? strengths & drawbacks. thanks

  • the drawback is that you can't choose what you want for the audio input, thats why I had to set everything up the way i did. even though it has optical and analog and sp/dif they are all TV/VIDEO

  • dude hell yea get it! totally worth the money! i bought this about a year ago and im always happy with how much this system pounds! the only drawback on this system is there isnt very many sources... the only thing i wish it had a game source but whatever i can still play with amazing crystal clear sound and picture! it

  • hey, how did you set up the rear speaker on to your wall like that? did you use a wall mount or is it just two-sided tape lol cant really tell from the video

  • the speakers had some slots in the back for a nail or a screw, i put one screw in the wall and the speaker rests on it

  • I really don't know why this guy got in trough this, it so complicated, I do this for living and there is like three different ways to do it easy, simple and better, cable box, pc and tv, without use that piece of switcher and all those cables....going and coming.

  • I am open to suggestions, but understand that on this DVD player/ Surround setup there is only one external input, of which I want my computer and TV connected to , thats why i have the external switch, and the setup the way I do.

  • I'm getting this sometime next week

  • Same here. lol Can't wait!

  • Same here lol. I can't wait!

  • the wireless rears are great, you wouldn't know they are wireless. the sound quality is amazing, but you need to make sure you have the right input(optical or coax digital from a 5.1 source). what are you using it for ? from my TV it just has R/L stereo but uses pro-logic to simulate 5.1

  • I was going to use it for my PS3, HDTV, and Cable Box. I know that their is only one optical in, so I'll probably just get a 3 in 1 digital optical splitter, for $5 from monoprice. But yeah that's pretty much it. Also thinking of my computer so could you link where that switch is and the cable you used, please?

  • a 3 in 1 optical splitter ? that could work, you just have to make sure the you don't have more than one of the devices that are connected to it on at the same time. I bought a simple RCA input switcher from Radio Shack and a RCA Audio cable ( the L/R White/Red Cables) and ripped it down the middle. The Connection for Digital Coaxial is the same a RCA - they say the real ones are 75Ohms and that's better, but the audio quality is the exact same; it's digital so it doesn't matter.

  • Alright thanks, I'll let comment back when I finally get this and get everything together.

  • How much did you pay for this, and where?

  • It was $419USD from Best Buy, then the switch was like $14USD from Radio Shack, are you looking at getting something like that ?

  • Yeah I was looking at the same exact one. $325 USD from Amazon, with free shipping. How is the sound quality? How well does the wireless rear speakers work?
