  • The name of the story sounds like an ad for a sale.

  • hes back dr vincent from the frist ep

  • Dracula you have Edward Cullen waiting for you on line 2.

  • I'm not trying to be a bitch or start anything, but why in the hell does everyone keep saying that the actor who played Frank looked like Taylor Lautner? It's really starting to annoy me. He doesn't/didn't look a damn thing like him. Taylor Lautner was only a baby when AYAOTD was on the air. Absolutely freaking love this love this show, born '86, grew up with retro Nickelodeon. I'm a '90's kid and damn proud out of it! :)

  • Oh God! Dr. Vink. He's NEVER up to any good......

  • Gary looks like Harry Potter. Dr.Vink looks like Hagrid. That narrator man does look like taylor Launter and Nosafartu looks like Voldemort. Why is the Harry Potter crew in Are You Afraid of the Dark?

  • Ahhh 240p......We meet again.

  • thats not taylor lautner! it doesnt even look like him!

  • Months ago, I saw the fright night version of 2011.

    It was awesome.

I really would like to see the 1985 version.

  • Taylor Lautner was born in 1992, so it's kinda hard for him to be this kid...

  • @MayPhoenix when was this made

  • They reuse those plastic cups??? O.o

  • Wasn't that kid in twilight

  • This show still scares me!

  • I'm drunk and watching this, and I must say, while my mind is distorted, I still remember it from when I was a kid :) oh sweet old Nickelodeon, what happened to you?

  • hey...vinks looks like haggard from harry potter

  • One bucket of popcorn one hotdog one packet of candies one soda, one movie ticket total price about 13 bucks at my local cheap-theater. every town has em, they show the movies that the New theater had 6 months ago. cheap prices good food. A great way to spend an evening.

  • Wow he looks like Jacob from twilight lol the storyteller of this episode

  • Word to the wise...if you want to pay UNDER 6 bucks for 2 sodas and popcorn, sneak it in ;) I never play movie theatre prices for food...fk that... You can get a much larger soda for about 1.50 (quantity wise, because a bottle of pop doesn't come with ice), a bag of popcorn for 2 bucks--if you pop it yourself (even less), totaling 4-5 bucks or less.

  • @TheCatsLastWord Me too. That's why I carry a huge purse to the theater.

  • YO COME BACK IN AN HOUR XD

  • 1 popcorn and 2 sodas for only 6 bucks!?

That's like, a bag of skittles now!

  • @pirateking888 Ha ha, Lmfao. Sad, But a very true reality.

  • @pirateking888 6 dollars for a bag of skittles??? 0.o You must live in NY or one of those other expensive cities... bag of skittles is still about 1 dollar where I live.

  • @TheCatsLastWord No, I'm talking about the price of Skittles at the MOVIE THEATER. They play by their own rules!

  • @pirateking888 Lol CHILL OUT! Even at a movie theatre it's not 6 bucks where I am... 4 AT MOST. And if you're so peeved go to a convenient store and get a cheap pack...

But seriously, calm down..it's just a pack of skittles 0.o

  • @TheCatsLastWord I smell a rat, or rather...a CAT...you're probably an undercover advocate for Skittles!

I'll make my own Skittles and show your precious candy conglomerate what's what!

  • Help, I'm translating this episode and I couldn't understand what Mr. Vinck said at 7:02. Please, native speakers, help me out.

I understood: "Back when films tried to stir your imagination, not ...."

    Thanks in advance

  • @carvalho141 Not bludgen it.

  • @carvalho141 not bludgeon it

(or oppress it--you probably could have gotten that through context anyways :) what language are you translating it to?)

  • @TheCatsLastWord Thanks, I'd never heard this word. I'm translating to Brazilian Portuguese

  • @carvalho141 Ah okay, cool :)

  • this used to scare the shiiiiiiit outa me :D

  • 6 bucks for one popcorn and 2 sodas!??? thats unbelievable

  • @mrkyburzy Six bucks will barely pay for a large popcorn these days.

  • i love this show use to watch it all the time when i was a kid. this one kind of gave me the creeps

  • Dr Vink with a vu vu vu you are most definatly a nutbag

  • the black girl is the voice of francine from arthur! :3

  • This one was the SCARIEST for me.

  • Pete "So you wanna get something to eat?" Girl "Um, no I have homework." Pete "IS IT BECAUSE I'M BLACK?!!!"

  • Wasn't Dr. Vink in the first episode?

  • The kid telling the story kind of reminds me of a straight and sexy taylor lautner....

  • It's nice to see how invested that boy is in his part-time job handing out those leaflets on street corners lol. And I can't believe Nickelodeon showed the boss drinking...oh the days when kids shows were slightly more realistic :)

  • i would totally bang the narrator!

  • that girl gave me a boner

  • man i loved this show.

  • @ GMOOREISAWESOME ACTUALLY SHE DID RE-WATCH SHE STATES HE'S A NUTBAG I'M CALL-IN THE COPS ;) GET IT RIGHT BEFORE YOU CORRECT SOME ONE

  • @jamille5108 Sorry. My mistake.

  • whos the girl in this? she loook very familiar from madern movies

  • "And I'm not a nutbag"

I love when he says that. :)

  • @missjunkheadx If you listen closely, that's actually a bit of a blooper. He said "I am not a nutbag", but no one actually called him a nutbag.

  • @Gmooreisawesome The girl did, 6:00 in...lol

  • Ther shouldve been a new theme song 4 this season. Oh and is that dr. vink from episode 1? I suspect truble! ;)

  • @TheYellowgalaxies143

He first appeared in the first episode, Phantom Cab.

  • @TheYellowgalaxies143 you are extremely retarded.

  • Ther shouldve been a new theme song 4 this season

  • Dr. Vink is my favorite recurring character :)

  • dr vink.. with a va va :) i love this showw! i remember it scaring the crap out of me

  • DR.VINK!

  • Damn frank does look a lot like Taylor lautner 0.o

  • One of the scarier episodes. I get strong Zooey Deschanel vibe from the female character.

  • @shatwood whoa totally!

  • This was the absolute scariest episode. I sort of remember a few episodes, but this one still remains vivid in my mind.

  • Man do I ever miss the old Nickelodeon, especially Nick at Night. And Ahhh! Real Monsters! That was the shit. And waking up on Saturday mornings watching cartoons & eating eggs with my mom, now I usually wake up with a hangover on Saturdays haha. What I'd give to go back in time to be a kid again.

  • at 1:29 he says about the movie feeling like it's real and make believe and all that. Mu word to him is it is called the uncanny valley - scientifically proven, nothing new there dipshit hahaha!

  • AHAHAHAHAHA "i am not a nutbag"!!!

  • Oh shit Team Jacob is a pretty good storyteller

  • @The1JRsuperstar &nd who would think team jacob would be telling a story about edward lmao

  • awesome story teller lol

  • Is Vink the same guy from the Soup episode?

  • @benniquaid

He's one of the frequent recurring characters of Gary's stories. They all have their own reused characters.

  • @Anonym0109 You mean Frank's recurring character. Gary's recurring character is Sardo. ;)

  • @NachtPhoenix

Knew I should have checked the names before opening my e-mouth. tell benniquaid.

  • @benniquaid Yeah, he's Frank's recurring character.

  • won't cost him a dime? do they have dimes in Canada?

  • @aaron305 yes they do. I have a boyfriend who lives just across the canadian boarder and I asked him for you.

  • I loved this show when it was on and This one was the only one that freaked me out.

Out of the skeleton from Dead man's float, the Dangerous soup, Cuttlers cove, nightly neighbors this one with the vampire in the movie biting the neck was the one thing that creeped me out. I miss this stuff

  • man girls ruin EVERYTHING. this proves that vampires use to be hella scary! now they glitter :(

  • @GabeGuevaraTV

im a girl and i hate twilight its actually just stephenie meyers and her brainwashed followers that ruined vampires' images T_T

  • @ThyRedRosary you are a nutbag :)))))) with a "NNNN" "NNN" "NNNN" :> just kidding , i hate twilight too :D

  • @PolicromaticMadness

xD glad to see i'm not alone

  • @GabeGuevaraTV As someone else said I'm female and I don't like Twhylight. I believe in vampires that bite people's necks and burn not sparkle in the sun.

  • who does homework on a friday?

  • He looks like jacob from twilight ahah fail!

  • @JoeydSaint

nope it's actually jacob looks like frank because frank was born first

  • This is my favorite episode!

  • lol for a theater thats going under. they're not very enthusiastic for a customer regardless of the time.

  • i just wish they had like 100 different epidsodes of Are You Afraid Of The Dark ..because watching all these re-runs of only 15 epidsodes is getting boring i know theres more out there but this user just don't have all the epidsodes but thanks for posting these childhood memories!

  • @ledgend209 There isnt only 15 episodes, there is about 75 or 80 of them from all of the seasons.

  • @dsc385 man someone should upload all that ....75 to 80 episodes for the person who owns the whole intire collection please do so upload the whole seasons.

  • @ledgend209

The majority of them are uploaded. Search on google for the complete episode list.

  • @UofLCardFan08 Thank you...

  • you are awesome for uploading this!!!

  • I saw this 16 years ago and it gave me a nightmare. pretty awesome nightmare

  • i swear Dr. Vink was in the Tale of the Phantom Cab episode

  • @illzidaneyou He was. Vink was Frank's special character (much like Sardo was Gary's) and made multiple appearances. He returned in "Dangerous Soup" and "Cutter's Treasure" (which also featured Sardo).

  • @mst3KGf @Monsterenergy212 @illzidaneyou Dr. Vink, or the character who played him rather, was also in the episode called The Tale of Laughing In the Dark, he played the carnival guy who sends Zeebo after that kid who stole the clowns nose.

  • @dsc385 Indeed, he was. Actually, though, his character WAS Zeebo, posing as the operator of the Laughing in the Dark spookhouse.

  • @illzidaneyou He was

  • So they're out beside a campfire at midnight, then after they're going to the cinema? Unless of course their group's name is misleading and it isn't midnight at all.

  • I like Dr. Vink's cheeriness

  • What does Dr. Vink have his PhD in?

(Someone wrote that on AYAOTD imdb and I CRACKED up.)

  • Love it! The over-the-top acting was something I never noticed before, but it makes the show even more fun, both as a kid and an adult.

Also, I think this is the first time (and maybe the only time, outside of cartoons) that I saw a character drinking alcohol, from a flask, in a kid's show. (9:25)

  • lol with a ver ver ver

  • So much Madness!!!

  • A video store just closed where I live and it really bums you out to see business's or stores loose costomers and eventually close down. lol I know it's just a show but that's probably how people really feel about it. ;)

  • i have a theory about the candle lighting in the credits

  • I always loved when Dr. Vink said with a Va Va Va! Man so many memories. This show ran for a decade! So many great tales!

  • Man, I've been watching this show the last 16 years and I STILL don't know how they make that match light up in the opening credits. HOW DO THEY DO IT?!

  • This was the first episode I ever saw, and the only. I was little and it scared me. XD

  • frank reminds me of taylor lautner

  • this is the first one i ever saw

  • shit, it's roky erickson! talk about scary...

  • the actor who played dr. vink (aron tagger) also was the carnial barker, and zeebo the clown from the episode of "laughing in the dark". god i'm such a 90's kid.

  • Did she call him "Don Quixote" because she believes he's delusionally fighting a losing battle for a lost way of life in a world that has lost its way? If so, that's quite a sophisticated reference for a teenage "Are You Afraid of the Dark" character. She must be an lit nerd.

  • 1:22 he looks like the guy who plays jacob in twilight new moon if you think about it :)

  • HEY hes from the dangerous soup episode !!!!

    "VVV"

  • hey that old guy at 5:58 is the guy from the tale of the phantom cab (the very fisrt episode).

  • The actor who played Nosferatu is fucking genius. Just as scary as Max Schreck in the 1922 movie.

I'd sure like to straddle his balls.

  • @ReturnedGrazzt What the fuck? o-o

  • @ReturnedGrazzt

    Did you mean "strangle?"

  • Of all the episodes I ever saw of this show, nothing ever scared me more than this one. I was about eight years old the first time I ever saw it, and that freaking vampire TERRIFIED me beyond description. I was too scared for fall asleep for weeks!

  • mr vink was in a other episode forgot what its called

  • ah, Count Orlock. Howdey, count.

  • ...............And I am NOT a nutbag!

  • the introduction scared the shit outta me as a kid. this was one of the first few episodes I saw as a kid

  • This episode, among several others, scared the shit out of me as a kid

  • It scared me too!

This episode was scariest for me!

  • : )

  • This episode is effing scary.

  • "I am not a nutbag"... dr. vinks signature line in every episode hes in. vink and sardo were the coolest characters, coming up in many episodes.

  • @MGoffer

"That's 'Sar-DOE', No mister, accent on the 'do'."

  • hey its you! howre u doin :)

  • this episode terrified me as a kid XD

  • Dr, Vink " I don't want your popcorn money!" lol....what a great Episode....

  • that ep. scared the shit out of me. but a classic non the less.

    It's Vink. With a va-va-va

  • frank looks alot like taylor launter

  • i agree :)

  • Vink is a madman. Like a demented Hagrid.

  • Dr. Vink has always been a creepy and unusual character. He is like that in EVERY episode he has ever been in of the series.

  • Damn I miss this show ! Dr. Vink with a

V-V-V-V. Thats classic stuff right there!

  • I am not a nutbag!

  • The manager took a swig out of his flask.. haha

  • this scared the shit out of me

  • I think Vink is a Doctor for a reason. Like THE Doctor from Dr. Who. Or he's Nyarlathotep. Just theories.

  • How long has Vink been around anyway? Is he even human? XD

  • That old lady at the begning cracks me up LOL.

  • My favorite episode.

  • When Harry Potter came out, I totally thought Hagrid was the same guy who played Dr. Vink.

  • wow, 1 popcorn and 2 sodas was $6 at the time? oh the good ol' days...

Anyways, this was my favorite episode when I was little, and actually made me interested in seeing the film Nosferatu. All this, and I was probably in 1st or 2nd grade. But this show got me thinking at a young age, and that's the point I'm trying to make. I really didn't realize how good I had it growing up. Now all movies/shows are shit and don't make a kid sit down and think, or want to do research on a topic.

  • People who think can't be easily controlled.

  • today's TV is rotting everyone's minds

  • clearly your's is already rotted!

though i can't say i've seen it, i get the jist of it and it's just as stupid and pointless as every other piece of crap on tv nowadays. can't really tell me to watch it to find out if it's good or not cuz it's just one of those shows you know is no good, with or without watching it.

    peace nigga!

  • fuck you faggot.

Macabrehaze is 100% right. You are 100% wrong.

Thumbs down stupid bitch. Who the hell likes a retarded show like Fanboy and Chum Chum? You're the definition of a '00 child. Be proud.

  • wtf.....

  • @macabrehaze i know....whenever i watch chowder.insects start to pour out of my head!

  • @macabrehaze Several times when people say things like this, I think, "man, we all have some horrible nostalgia goggles; these old shows probably aren't any worse in reality in comparison to new shows."

However, I watched a few episodes of this with my nieces, and they can tell (at ages 8 and 3), that stuff on Nick and "the CN" and Disney today is horrible, and that, while TV always has and always will rot our minds, it's not just nostalgia; the classics really ARE classic. =D

  • @TheVillainOfThisTale Amen. I miss this abd Hey Arnold. I want a redo at my childhood.

  • This episode made me cry when i was little.

  • Man whatever happened to shows like these? I mean I know you hear everybody reminisce about the 'olden days' but they absolutely wouldn't show this kind of stuff on tv these days. It's deemed as 'too scary for kids' and 'unfit for daytime tv'

Where are all the mature shows for young people? Do you honestly think they can stomach marathons of spongebob the rest of their adolescent lives?

    Fuck man...FUCK....

  • It is intellectual entrophy man, you keep forcing homogenized media on kids, watered down shit that doesn't provoke them mentally like old shows like this and Bill Nye, Mr. Wizard, ect, and they grow up to be mal-adjusted people who can't cope in a world that needs them to be smarter than the generation before them.

In the world war 2 generation, it was common knowledge to know how to build a radio. Everyone knew how. Ask any highschool kid to do that now.

  • I've been researching basic survival skills just in case the day comes that I'l need them.

  • everything has become kid friendly

wrestling, movies, TV shows & much much more :(

  • Ah the good old days. I am so sick of society trying to tone things down "for the good of the children". The children are just going to grow up to hate them for not preparing them for a tough world.

  • And Spongebob and such are total trash.

  • @drunkdonutboy I agree

  • @drunkdonutboy Dude spoken like a true child of the 80s and 90s. Nothing but garbage for kids to watch today. If I want to watch good TV now, I turn on TV land to watch Cheers, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Married with Children, and all the other great shows of days gone by. Reality TV (which isnt real) has destroyed TV for the most part.

  • i love diz episode

  • I remember the tv series when i was younger back then. I would watch them and sometimes i get nightmares!!! But Now i'm no longer afraid.

  • this ep. was one of the scariest i think....this one and the Tale of the Night Shift :P

  • This was a really good episode.

To this day, I think it's funny the way Dr. Vink mocks the manager saying "Six bucks."

  • rufio? nope..different guy..frank is hotter

  • This one and the Quicksilver episode scared the crap out of me. I couldn't sleep for days after this.

Saturday night SNICK with my friends over a sleepover were the best times.

Lord I feel so bad for the kids nowadays. Hannah Montana? Spongebob? Too bad, so sad.

  • OH MAN!! I KNOW!! THOSE ARE THE TWO SCARIEST!!! I'm 23 years old, and after watching this episode, I'm too scared to walk downstairs now...hahaha...

  • Okay, this is weird...the storyteller looks like Taylor Lautner, Gary looks like Harry Potter, and Vink kind of looks like a shorter Hagrid...haha I love this show.

  • I once saw Dr. Vink on "Dateline: To Catch A Predator" lol

  • old theatres are the best, they have this magic to them you don't find in those from today.

  • nosferatu
