Such interest is reasonable because Nephite teachers themselves drew comparisons between Lehis colony and their Israelite forebears. For instance, in an important speech, King Limhi referred to Israels escape from Egypt and immediately drew a parallel to Lehis departure from Jerusalem (Mosiah 7:1920)
The memory of Israels exodus from Egypt runs so deeply and clearly in the Book of Mormon that it has naturally drawn the attention of modern students. A major focus of recent studies has fallen on the departure of Lehis family from Jerusalem as a replication, almost a mirror image—even in small details—of the flight of the Hebrews
The close ties between birth, the goodness of the gods, rebirth, and the image of the serpent infused Egypt during all of her early historical periods down to the end of the New Kingdom. When corn was harvested and grapes pressed into wine, an offering was made to the harvest goddess, Thermuthis, who was depicted as either a snake or a woman with a serpent's head
I was touched by your testimony,I have a son also serving a mission em Boston (MA).We have seen the gospel changing his life.I also love this gospel and I hope a day serving a full time mission.Like you.
Cool video and he is sincere in what he believes. It is sad that people have negative labels for belief but it is nice to know the work moves forward despite of their pessimism. So many young men in this world are out there wasting their lives and here is one who will go out and do something for others in remote lands. I hope more people see the worth of these missionaries for the sacrifice and good work they do around the world.
Wonderful video. I just submitted my mission papers last night... so in 2-3 weeks (according to my stake president) I should be receiving my mission call! I can't wait.
