@Roamancing Thanks for watching another one, Emme! Indeed that climb to the top of the mount to find a treasure consisting of nothing struck me as a pretty good metaphor for life.
DEVGIRI fort in MAHARASHTRA has been considered as the most powerful design that offered strong resistance to the enemies.
This forts specialty is the Height and the underground tunnel which was built to deceive the enemies...till date no one can go cause of the live traps...u should check this one Williams...u wil love it...hope u will be here too...filming on this fort..
@Connectwithall Thanks for all that information about Devgiri. I just looked it up- you're right: that's a serious fort! If I get up to Maharashtra I will definitely check it out. Gosh, so much history in this country, so little time!
@ivanavanderveen Well I'm honoured you watched this, Ivana! It's a shame that you see me so fat here, but the food in India is simply too good to resist... a bit like your songs!
wow, isn't that something! Thanks so much for the share of a cool place. Yes, I would wath your show too. You are a great host. Take good care my friend.
@funkandgroovin *blush* Guess I know one video that we should show the lifestyle channels when we try to sell that travel host idea. Thanks for another vote of support! Having just visited your page, I see I owed you a subscription from way back. Fixed!
@GreatScottPilgrimage Haha- not yet- but the suggestion has been raised by a few of my friends out here as well. If we get lucky I'll be sure to let you know!
@lesliewand Ah- there's an interesting suggestion! The English countryside is peppered with such things, isn't it? There certainly were- and are- enough rich Indians to do the same here.
@davidsquall351 Must give credit to Shyam for that one! Yeah, it sure does draw the eye from the town below, bit like a bricks & mortar version of the Hollywood sign.
.. fascinating - maybe as with other high minded ideas they ran out to money - anyway I'm sure it won't make the travel diaries of the major touristy sites - thanks :)
@GeoffJennyOliver And if it ain't in the Lonely Planet Guide, the tourists blow straight past. Whereas if it is, you see the westerners with their backpacks and their cameras- we're so predictable. I like your "ran out of money" theory- this fort's all package and no contents!
@manningroad Why thank you, Steve! Of course, my cameraman shook his head when the shot was done and said "We really have to get you out of T-shirts... " When the body ain't right, you have no choice but to trade on charisma.
VW, Interesting stuff, how old is the structure? It is interesting that the individual stones fit together like gloves. The quality of the stone work on the foo dog is excellent. It seems as if the castle was never finished or portions other than stone may have been destroyed and never replaced? Anyway, it is always good to hear from you, keep in touch.
@aduziproductions Lucky first comment, Mr. Aduzi! (I ought to offer a prize for that!) I've no idea how old the fort is- that was one of my frustrations- the only signage said "Historic Site- Don't Damage It". You're quite right about the quality of the stone work- this was built to last the ages- and that more of it might have existed at one time. Perhaps some history professor will visit this vid and enlighten us all? Meanwhile, I'm off to look up "foo dog". Thanks for my new word of the day!
wow how interesting !!!!!!
