  • I really enjoyed Tom Sawyer's Island during that time period. Does anybody remember the hippies invading Disneyland in the late sixties, I do. My freeway on ramp was like ten minutes from Katella Ave from 58 to 65, then I moved about 5 minutes down the street. They like it too, I guess it was a good place to take a toke and desecrate the American flag. Wasn't it in sixty five that Uncle Walty died and Roy his nephew got everything? Young people don't smoke. Peace.

  • @ferkco Yes Walt Disney died Dec 15th 1966. He never got to see the opening of Pirates of the Caribbean. When Walt died, his brother Roy became the CEO of Disney.

  • Disneyland was so magical, and special then, they didn't design rides to mirror the times. Just Walt's ideas come to life in a beautiful place to be. Thank you for this short but sweet video!

  • @videotimesss1 Disneyland was magical back then. I still love Disneyland but it does seem to commercialized now.

  • wow disneyland during my mom & dad's time. lt looked soo cool

  • @deflepnBonJovi4ever This is the Disneyland that I went to as a child. They had real Indians, real old West soldiers and cowboys, real pirates. It was very fun back then. I still love Disneyland but it is just not the same now.

  • @LoreneFaith i know :( tomorrowland is pretty boring now except for space mountian.

  • hey lorenefaith u were saying som ething about downloading something to my drop box. well whatever its is please feel free to do it cuz iam crazy abt disney.

  • @MsDisneylandlover I will message you when I have done that through your inbox.

  • Excellent video. We use to take our anual end of summer trip to Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm. So glad it was during this era and not now.

  • @MrDanlj Glad you enjoy the video. It brings back wonderful memories for me too. I also went to Knotts Berry Farm as a kid and Disneyland many times.

  • Nice clip! People looked so well-groomed and neat in those days. So unlike today.

  • @mrshinyshoes It is true. I was a child in the 60's and people did dress nicer and they were much more polite too.

  • @LoreneFaith I've always admired the early 1960s in America. It seemed like a Golden time for the country. I watch videos and shows from that time period, and people look like they took care in how they dressed in public. Men wore suits just to go to Disneyland, their shoes were shined, and they were well-groomed. Women wore dresses, looked nice and feminine, and acted like ladies. Is it my imagination or was that for the most part true?

Thanks for the reply---I believe you.

  • @mrshinyshoes I think it was true for most of society back then. The standards were much higher for appearance and conduct. It is sad to see what has become of us.

  • @LoreneFaith Yes, it is very sad. And it seemed to change almost immediately starting around 1969. It was at that time things started to deteriorate rapidly. Very strange, but true. People, especially young people, started to abandon morality, good grooming and dress habits, family values, and respect and kindness towards others. The early 1970s saw the beginning of a lot of ugliness. To this day, I can never understand why the rapid descent. :(

Videos like yours preserve that era. ;)

  • @mrshinyshoes So very true. Thank you for the compliment on my videos. I really appreciate that :)

  • I am really looking forward to visiting again in 2011 when I can see "The Little Mermaid" ride. Besides it will have been over 3 years since the last time I was at Disneyland by then and I will be overdue for a visit.

  • Great video love the old Bob sleds cant waite for the new ones but that wont be for 2 years.

  • I wanted to go to Disney Land SO BADLY when I was a little kid. We were too poor to go. Our neighbors went and their kids smeared it in our faces over and over. So...I kicked her snowman to the ground. REVENGE! SWEET REVENGE!!! Well...to a five year old it was sweet revenge. Till I got told on and got in trouble.

  • @ElderPinkerton So, have you been able to go to Disneyland since then? I sure hope so :)

  • There was also a show there called America Sings, which had animals singing folk songs. I loved that and still love the Carousel of Progress in WDW!

  • After Carousel of Progress moved to Walt Disney World, this change to "America Sings" which took us from old songs to the present day songs back then. Now defunct, some of the characters are in the "Splash Mountain" ride.

  • Beautiful

  • The original is located in Tomorrowland at Walt Disney World next to Space Mountain. It's still lots of fun.

  • ya it was called General Electric Carousel of Progress =)
