A perfect example of my comment re: a "sick and deranged" act is the recent incident that took place in Norway. One sick right-wing nut woke up one morning and decided that day he was going to murder everyone he could. Now, imagine if a black person committed the exact same act. I think it would be a great idea to refer to anyone who is not White as a Person of Color, as opposed to a "minority." It seems whenever white people try to be honest and fair regarding race, some whites take it as an attack on the whole white race. White Privilege is built upon paranoia; that all Whites have an upper hand in everything in society. This isn't 1860, there's no Slavery, we all have the same LEGAL rights. @emmettk I'm saying that one outcome of being a minority for many is discomfort, and that's just natural to feel that way, to feel like the majority is (white people in this case) automatically in a greater position of power, making you feel vulnerable in society--therefore easier to believe a theory such as "white privilege". This is the case in South Africa, where white people are the minority; and the most abundant (and rich) are the black people.

@emmettk It's many things. First of all, it's not really relevant in modern society--so what does it mean today? It's the fear/paranoia of being oppressed (regardless if you really are or aren't). Its another way for "some" to hate white people, stemmed from black people making themselves feel like lesser citizens because of it. It's saying whites have more rights and a more powerful stance in society; which was true for hundreds of years....but "Today" white privilege is mainly an illusion...

I think it would be a great idea to refer to anyone who is not White as a Person of Color, as opposed to a "minority." Although the idea may be that the term minority was started due to population, it is now used as a descriptive term instead of relating to Census data and can be seen as a pejorative term.

The video shows that most stereotypes are directed at non-whites and the ones directed at whites are usually innocuous in comparison. I commended the makers of the video for showing the difference. It seems whenever white people try to be honest and fair regarding race, some whites take it as an attack on the whole white race. When someone mentions racism still exists, it does not implicate the ENTIRE white race.The majority know this and don't take offense. The ones who do, do so for a reason.

I can think of a few white stereotypes like we can't dance, we can't jump, we aren't that good at sports. It may be that most rich people are white, but most white people aren't rich.

Whites from multiracial environments are often forced into a form of duality where we hold the stereotypical images of ourselves (as intrinsically racist, without ethnicity, boring, stuck-up...) against our self images which usually consist of none of the aforementioned. The problem is there really is no space for us to work thru this due to there only being 2 social models 4 whites when it comes to race: Colorblindness or White Supremacy. Whites discussing race are often branded as racists.

this study was flawed in so many ways. It totally absconded white hegemony from creating the historical propaganda for which most, if not all of these stereotypes were concieved and totally blamed "Minorities," for oiling the wheels of their own oppression. I really believe whites go through this world with blinders on that shield them from seeing or even understanding anyone that doesnt look like them.
